|Minimum Stay||3 - 30 nights|
One of the most distinctive historic properties in the Finger Lakes, the former White Gazebo Inn B&B, is now open for weekly vacation rentals!
The White Gazebo property is home to an original Victorian gazebo built in 1852, as well as a picturesque period barn, sprawling pastures, and quiet woodland privacy. The regal, historic home includes three/four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms. Private terrace and patio for gathering, picnicing and barbequing, and extensive grounds for walking, or just sitting and sipping wine and enjoying the bounty of the Finger Lakes, or for doing just about anything. Just dream!
The main house is a charming, cozy home with a recent addition for more space and key amenities- a Master Bedroom suite, a cozy family room, a breakfast nook, and a utilities room with a full laundry. The second floor has two bedrooms and a shared bathroom with windows facing the historic gazebo. Large closets. The home comes furnished with sheets, towels and pillows.
Outside- the grounds provide a peaceful relaxing setting. If the Lakes are not keeping you cool enough, an inground pool is here for your swimming enjoyment (Closes second week of September so you can enjoy that last swim over Labor Day weekend).Tables, lawnchairs and gas BBQ grill are at your fingertips.
The main house and cottage may be rented together; rates shown here are for the main house and grounds use only. However, the cottage may be rented at a sharp discount along with the main house, as we truly wish for our guests to enjoy the full intimacy the property offers- it is its true hallmark. Even if you don't need to sleep two more people, the cottage is useful as a poolhouse changing room, or for lawn picnic/event kitchenette convenience.
Minimum stays may be negotiable depending on booking calendar; please call to inquire. Fall minimum stay is 6 nights.
If the cottage is NOT rented with the main house, guests should be aware that it is possible that the pool area may be shared with cottage guests; driveway and parking do not need to be shared, however, as the cottage has private driveway access.
Please call for seasonal weekly rates on the cottage. It is not generally rented by the night, or for less than three days. Available during summer months only.
Special requests for reunions, events, weddings, or receptions on the grounds are negotiable with a full property rental fee (House plus cottage). Call for details.
I welcome you to my childhood home!... where growing up in one of the best small towns in the country, Trumansburg, provided me fond, lasting memories.
And as you can see, I always took great pride in taking care of the family property- that's me keeping the Gazebo spotless oh so many years ago... Even then, I always knew there was no place like home. Experience our home for yourself and you will agree.
Christine R Swift purchased this estate in 2013
For years, my parents welcomed guests from all over the world into our home as the White Gazebo Inn Bed and Breakfast.
We hosted parents and students from Cornell and Ithaca colleges. Grassroots music fans, international scholars and wine enthusiasts all which enjoyed the welcoming sight of the White Gazebo as you drove into Trumansburg.
Growing up here I have fond memories of the many family gatherings of picnics under the trees to celebrating a family wedding in the gazebo. The White Gazebo is serene, private, and convenient to many of the major attractions of the Finger lakes.
We will help you navigate your way to them with pleasure! After all, we now live elsewhere, and could vacation anywhere, but we choose to come back year after year and spend our precious vacations in the Finger Lakes. You should, too!
Why you will LOVE the Finger Lakes... (And why the White Gazebo is the perfect base for enjoying all the best the region has to offer...
THE WINERIES: (Of Course...)
The White Gazebo is uniquely situated for you to enjoy easy access to both the Cayuga Lake and the Seneca lake wine trails:
The Cayuga Lake wine trail starts one mile from here, and wineries such as Americana (2 miles away) are now places to gather and relax, and enjoy both cuisine and entertainment as well as the fruits of the vine. Seneca lake wineries such as Hazlitt's and Wagner have become popular gathering places for Friday night music on the Terrace and other special events, and are only 10-15 minutes away from the White Gazebo. THE OUTDOORS:
With Taughannock Falls park just one mile away and its miles of hiking trails, lake access, fishing and boating options, there is no end to the outdoor activities you can pursue right here. Additionally, the proximity of the Finger Lakes National Forest to the White Gazebo opens even more possibilities for hiking, fishing, and more. Even Lake access to Seneca is only 15 minutes away! There's Montezuma N.W.R, etc. We love to kayak, bike, and fish, too, and can help you find your way to the activities you desire!
THE REGIONAL FOOD REVOLUTION:
This region is the site of the most dynamic natural, organic and local food revolution anywhere. We can get your started with how you can enjoy the farm market scene, local producers, and soon you'll be out on the grill, cooking up anything you can imagine, all produced and raised within miles of Trumansburg! MUSIC, CULTURE, CRAFT FAIRS AND OTHER EVENTS:
All within easy range of the Gazebo!:
The Grassroots Festival; Ithaca Highland Games; Watkins Glen Italian Fest; Hammondsport Craft Fair.. THE MUSEUMS AND REGIONAL HISTORY:
With the Museum of the Earth just 5 miles away, and the Musuems of Ithaca (ScienceCenter, Johnson Art Museum) only a few minutes further, there's plenty to do even on rainy days!
Our group was made up of 4 adults and 3 children aged 8,9 and 14 coming from Canada and France.
Arrival was super easy - Christine provided key less entry code which gives you and your group the flexibility of arriving at time convenient to you. During the stay, it also made it easy to have people do what they wanted without worrying of who would have the key and time meeting back at the house. Christine called us to check everything was ok.
The pictures on the website are a true representation of the house - the terasse / covered patio sat our group of 7 very easily and it was a godsend the nights were we had rain. We could still enjoy dinner outside. The kitchen is small and a bit dark (no windows) but very functional - you have everything you need to cook meals for a large family/group - bbq, pizza, there is even a s'mores maker and a ice cream maker - plenty to bake as well - not that we had time to.
Conveniently there is a grocery store and a wine store less than 5 minutes by car. There is a gas station within walking distance if your forgot milk. You can walk to Trumansburg to restaurants. Ithaca is 20 minutes away by car. There is a school across the street with tennis courts, basket. All courts and a large play ground for kids.
We kept busy for the all week between swimming in the pool to start or end the day and exploring this wonderful region. We hiked the trail to Taughannock falls state parks - 1.6 miles there and back. Then we hiked Robert Treman state park with Lucifer falls. We enjoyed dinners at little Venice in Trumansburg - they will take you gladly for dinner until 10pm. We enjoyed live music at the Rongovian Ambassy. We visited Ithaca, Cornell university. We had lunch at dano's Heuriger on Seneca and tasted local wines from Ravine's, Damiani's, Wagner, Standing stone's vineyards. We even enjoyed the local fair held in Trumansburg at the end of August. One our last day, part of our groups visited Watkings Glen state park while we had to sadly head back to Toronto.
We will be back to the finger lakes area and based on group size would likely stay at Christine's house again. It is central and within short distance from everything. A perfect location to visit and enjoy what the finger lakes have to offer. I can't believe we live so close (less than 5 hrs) and had never visited.
Thank you Christine for your wonderful hospitality and sharing your beautiful property with us. We enjoyed it tremendously. The Delivuk & Perez families.
This beautiful home and setting exceeded all of our expectations. We were in the Finger Lakes for a family wedding and wanted to find a place that we could be together, but still have our own space. The house is very inviting and the furniture is comfortable. The decorating is lovely and the space was more than we had hoped for. I don't think anyone spent anytime in the living room or formal dining room because we all enjoyed being together in the breakfast room and family room. Two of the groom's Aunts came (on from CA and one from NE) and it was nice that they could have the upstairs bedrooms and bat all to themselves. We went to Ithaca to pick them up at the airport and stopped by Wegman's Food Store, which was a real shopping experience for them. We ended up going there 3 days in a row. There is a food store, liquor store, ice cream and other shops and restaurants less than a half mile from the house. We had dinner at "Little Venice" in Trumansburg two nights in a row. It is only a 10 minute walk. My son and his fiance went to the "Rongo" and enjoyed the live music (they bought a CD of the group that was playing). After the reception, on Saturday afternoon we had about a dozen people stop by for dessert. Everyone raved about the house. The Gazebo was a perfect setting for more pictures. Sunday we made arrangements to take a tour and do a wine tasting at Heart and Hands Winery. It is on the other side of Cayuga Lake in Union Springs. Great tour and great wine! My favorite spot was on the covered patio where I had my coffee every morning. I was hoping to see some deer, and two fawns walked through the yard a few times. The pool and covered patio saved the day when the grandchildren came. We were able to cook, drink and relax and still keep an eye on all of them. There is plenty of yard space for fun and games. A also wanted to mention that the kitchen is so well stocked with dishes, glasses and every appliance (blenders, food processors, crock pot, etc.) you could want. I would love to stay here again on any future trips.
The owner went out of her way to SAVE our family vacation after the property we had originally booked was unexpectedly not available. We lucked out! White Gazebo Inn is a beautiful place, with lovely old evergreens and a historic barn and gazebo. The beds were very comfortable, and the layout of the house allowed flexibility in our sleeping arrangements. The kitchen is well-stocked, and opens to an eating nook and family room with TV, which was perfect for the kids on lazy mornings. The pool is awesome, large and and well-maintained with room to lounge about in the sun or shade. The nearby cottage is very cute and well-suited to a couple. We enjoyed nightly dinners on the lovely outdoor terrace, badminton on the expansive lawn, and tennis at the high school across the street. The location is very convenient in downtown Trumansburg, but it feels like you are out in the country. We loved the frozen custard within walking distance of the house, great NY pizza, and Taughannock Falls just down the road. The owner is wonderful, even making an extra trip to the post office during our stay to retrieve our package. Thank you, Christine!
Our large party had a great stay at the White Gazebo Inn. Nancy and her biking girl friends biked from Rochester to the Inn. They all found the accommodations very satisfying, especially the Pool after a long day on the road. The house is wonderfully located to many of the finger lake gems. The girls were able to walk to Taughannock Falls Park and hike the entire rim trail. We find this area to be one of the nicest biking and Kayaking regions in the country, with majestic views and a variety of destinations including downtown Ithaca, wineries, breweries, and even cheese tasting at a goat farm. The spacious outside veranda was a favorite space on a summer week with well manicured landscaping and peaceful surroundings. The house had all of the amenities that we needed for a weeks stay (some did want a few more cable channels to watch the Tour De France, but we opted for outdoor activity anyways.) There was plenty of space inside to allow our large group to comfortably prepare meals as well as get ready for the days activities. We even took advantage of the indoor tables for evening card playing. Thank you again for providing a wonderful location with friends and family.
Steve and Nancy
Had a wonderful time! The house was large enough to hold all of us and a great place to relax. The kids played for hours in the pool while the adults had plenty of places to hangout, inside or out. It is located in an area that getting to Cayuga or Seneca Lake is very easy, and there is so much to do in the Finger Lakes. In addition, it’s walking distance to the village and just down the street from Not My Dad’s Ice Cream that serves the biggest portions of ice cream I have seen. The owner Christine was very responsive to any query I had. Will recommend to friends and family wanting to stay in the southern part of the Finger Lakes.

The home is a beautiful, historic residence that did provide us with good accomodations. Two weeks after our stay 7 pictures were sent to us with the news that our security deposit was not to be returned. I will attempt to attach those photos. The floor was ruined? (picture of normal wear on wood flooring), couch was stained (one picture was of the spring covered fabric under the pillows), and towels were distroyed (bleached- we used nor bought any bleach).
There was definately miscommunication as well. The pool which was one of the selling points of our selection of this home was not ready upon arrival. While the contract does indicate that circumstances beyond their (owners) control might prevent its use- the pool's maintenance man indicated to us that he had not been called prior to our arrival to begin chemical treatment. We waited 2 days for chemicals to be shipped to the residence and additional days for it to work. Lawn was in need of mowing upon arrival- only when we inquired, was a call placed to their service to have it done.
We are in the process of filing a petition at small claims court. This expenditure of time and money may consume the money lost, however we will not simply stand by an untrue accusation.
The first Winery on the Cayuga Wine Trail (west side) is one mile away!
Taughannock State Park is less than 2 miles away, with full access to Cayuga Lake: Canoe and Kayak rentals available there, with no transport required to put in, a swimming area, boat ramps, fishing sites, and hiking trails to the world famous Taughannock Falls.
