About the property

A Two Bedroom Cabin Nestled Between The Purcell Mountains And Blaeberry River

The River House is a secluded cabin nestled between the Purcell Mountains and the Blaeberry River.

The River House is a two bedroom cabin, which sleeps 4 adults and 2 children. It has a full kitchen, fireplace, hot tub, t.v., blue-ray, internet and laundry facilities.

The River House is located on 8 acres of wooded land and is the only rental cabin on the property. The other house on the property is ours. You can wake up every morning and while eating breakfast watch a pair of bald eagles fish from the Blaeberry River. In the evenings watch a herd of elk drink from the river all while never having to leave the comfort of the River House.

The River House boasts peace and quiet, but for those that are looking for adventure, the House also includes the use of the 'shed'. In the shed there is a place to store and clean your equipment, which includes skis, bikes, sleds, ATVs, and all other equipment you may bring with you.

About Grant and Antoinette

We are a couple who work in Calgary but play in Golden. Golden is a short commute from Calgary and this property allows us to enjoy everything the mountains have to offer.

In the winter we can go skiing at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, or strap on our cross country skis and headed out for a day of touring from the deck.

In the summer we can drive up the road 7km for a beautiful day hike to a gorgeous waterfall. Or we can grab our fishing rods and step off the deck into the Blaeberry River.

Grant and Antoinette purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Grant and Antoinette chose British Columbia

This property was purchased because it is a location where we can play all year round. We love the fact that this cabin is the only rental cabin on the property and we are surrounded by 8 acres of wooded seclusion. This allows us to get away from the hustle and bustle of Calgary, AB and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

We love to sit on the deck in the evenings with friends/family and listen to the Blaeberry River or in the mornings drink a cup of coffee and watch the sun light up the beautiful Purcell mountains just outside the door step.

What makes this cabin unique

The best part of this property is that it allows us and everyone who stays with us to enjoy the complete seclusion of the Mountains, and yet is so close to all the mountain adventures that Golden has to offer. It truly is a place to get away from it all!

Our experience at the River House was more of than we expected. It was a wonderful peaceful place. The views were outstanding and the house was comfortable and clean. The beds were super comfy but supportive.

The hosts/owner were kind and accommodating.

Overall we highly recommend staying at the River House!

WE WILL BE BACK!

  • 5 of 5

Hello,

This home away from home is a hidden gem in the Rockies. We stayed here twice now and will be back again. We are very fortunate to live only 2.5 to 3 hours drive away from this beautiful spot.

The cabin is a very private, secluded and peaceful while surrounded by tall trees, the Rockies and the river. It has two bedrooms, one equipped with king size bed and a single bed, the other with a queen size bed. You will also find a comfy futon in the main area and a leather couch and a leather ottoman so large, that our 120 lbs rottweiler slept on very comfortably. Yes, this place is kid and pet friendly. It has a full bath, fireplace and full laundry facilities.

The cabin is supper clean and well stocked up with supplies, towels, sheets, pots, pans, etc. It has a fully functioning kitchen with a huge stainless steel fridge, stove, nice family size table and you get a good size BBQ and on the deck and an awesome fire pit with log benches.

The hosts are very environment conscious and provide you with recycling bins, etc

This place is close enough to drive into Golden for a nice casual meal or grocery store in case you forgot to bring something.

Golden is buzzing with locals and tourists at any time of the year, yet the cabin is nicely private. If you are into hiking, fishing, white water kayaking or rafting, or wild life watching, you have all that available to you right at the door step. There are roads for 4x4 thrill seekers and for mountain bikers. And of course there is the river for casting, angling or fly fishing. And if its too cold you have the fire place. And for those who like a bit more entertainment there is TV and a huge selection of movies and games, but i still prefer the hot tub. You can't beat the hot tub at night while looking at the unobscured view of the sky full of stars. You will not hear the cars or miss the sounds of a city.

While staying at the cabin we have seen bear, also deer in front of the window, eagles (Bald and Golden), and salmon, not to mention squirrels, butterflies and owls.

You are surrounded by nature and you can enjoy a good cup of Kicking Horse coffee on the deck in the morning or a soak in the hot tub after a day of hiking, skiing or horseback riding. It is a perfect place for couples, family with kids, or a girls weekend get away.

The hosts are both friendly, kind and welcoming. We love it here and will be back really soon.

Thank you for the hospitality Antoinette and Grant!

LOVE THIS PLACE

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with a vivacious springer spaniel the month of September 2015 and it was wonderful! What an amazingly beautiful place, particularly in September. You are feet away from the Blaeberry river and in September (particularly late September) you have the gift of seeing the salmon spawning, which is quite a sight. Nature surrounds you in this peaceful setting. We spent countless hours gazing at the many bald and golden eagles and were fortunate to also see coyote and wolves. We enjoyed kayaking down the Blaeberry and running/dining/hanging out in Golden, which is about 20-25 minutes down the road. The cabin was comfortable and the owners were so, so kind. They routinely checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, but were careful not to be too imposing (but they were so nice, we were kind of hoping they wouldn't be so respectful of our space). They aren't on the property too often, so if you want your privacy - you have it. The location is just superb, particularly if you are looking for a peaceful place to connect with nature. The views from the cabin and yard were breathtaking. The hot tub was wonderful. I think often about our month in September in this amazingly nuturing place and can't wait to come back again.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, well-appointed cabin with a large yard, private hot tub, and private fire pit located on a beautiful creek. We had a great time enjoying the view from the hot tub after a day of whitewater rafting in Golden and cuddling up by the fire in the evening. I would highly recommend River House and hope to be back soon!

As well the Thompson Falls area is a 2 minute drive away from the River House which boasts beautiful water falls and sledding areas. The possibilities of activities is endless for this area, all you need is a little imagination and adventure.

If you are looking for peace and quite, the River House is a secluded location, perfect for artists, wildlife watchers, or someone who just wants to get away from it all.
