About the property

A Two Bedroom Cabin Nestled Between The Purcell Mountains And Blaeberry River

The River House is a secluded cabin nestled between the Purcell Mountains and the Blaeberry River.

The River House is a two bedroom cabin, which sleeps 4 adults and 2 children. It has a full kitchen, fireplace, hot tub, t.v., blue-ray, internet and laundry facilities.

The River House is located on 8 acres of wooded land and is the only rental cabin on the property. The other house on the property is ours. You can wake up every morning and while eating breakfast watch a pair of bald eagles fish from the Blaeberry River. In the evenings watch a herd of elk drink from the river all while never having to leave the comfort of the River House.

The River House boasts peace and quiet, but for those that are looking for adventure, the House also includes the use of the 'shed'. In the shed there is a place to store and clean your equipment, which includes skis, bikes, sleds, ATVs, and all other equipment you may bring with you.

About Grant and Antoinette

We are a couple who work in Calgary but play in Golden. Golden is a short commute from Calgary and this property allows us to enjoy everything the mountains have to offer.

In the winter we can go skiing at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, or strap on our cross country skis and headed out for a day of touring from the deck.

In the summer we can drive up the road 7km for a beautiful day hike to a gorgeous waterfall. Or we can grab our fishing rods and step off the deck into the Blaeberry River.

Grant and Antoinette purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Grant and Antoinette chose Golden

This property was purchased because it is a location where we can play all year round. We love the fact that this cabin is the only rental cabin on the property and we are surrounded by 8 acres of wooded seclusion. This allows us to get away from the hustle and bustle of Calgary, AB and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

We love to sit on the deck in the evenings with friends/family and listen to the Blaeberry River or in the mornings drink a cup of coffee and watch the sun light up the beautiful Purcell mountains just outside the door step.

What makes this cabin unique

The best part of this property is that it allows us and everyone who stays with us to enjoy the complete seclusion of the Mountains, and yet is so close to all the mountain adventures that Golden has to offer. It truly is a place to get away from it all!

Golden Times at the River House!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the River House Golden in late September 2017, while we were in town for the Golden Ultra race.

The views from the back porch of the house are epic. Huge mountains, lovely trees changing color, and the wide river. It was late season so there were pink hockeye in touching distance right at the shore. The cabin feels secluded, nestled among trees with side lawns, a deck, and hot tub for outdoor play. We enjoyed some horseshoes and had we stayed longer would have made use of the fire circle. The hot tub proved the best recovery after our trail race!

While outside the cabin you can see bald eagles and say hello to the affectionate dogs, inside felt so at home. Everything was so perfectly appointed for a comfortable stay-- from linens and extras in the bathroom, to a well-stocked kitchen. The washer & dryer were handy for a mid-trip laundry, so we came home with clean clothes too.

We visited spots in Banff and Yoho National Parks, with stops in Golden and Calgary, all within driving distance of the River House.

Our hosts being so welcoming was what truly made it feel like home. We can't wait to come back to explore and see how the pup Roxy has grown!

Love,

Melanie, Blair, Andrew, & Pony Boy

A Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

It's is always great when something exceeds your expectations and that is exactly what happened with our visit to the River House. The attention to detail that Grant and Antoinette pay to ensure that their guests are comfortable is absolutely wonderful! The cabin was even nicer than we expected, the perfect quaint and cozy lodgings we were hoping for, and stocked with everything we needed to make our vacation relaxing and effortless. They thought of everything, the kitchen being well stocked enough to satisfy a fussy cook like me, extra linens, tons of towels, games and videos, and a book detailing points of interest and restaurants to visit in the area (the suggestion of the Wolf's Den in Golden is a winner... the food was great and they could accommodate my gluten issues).

If you are looking for a lovely cabin with spectacular scenery, the River House is a perfect choice. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future. Thanks for being such great hosts Grant and Antoinette!

Blaeberry Bliss

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful Thanksgiving retreat for the whole family. Walk out your backdoor to the shores of the Blaeberry river beneath the majestic Purcell Mountains and watch both Golden & Bald eagles soaring or perched nearby.

The river house was as depicted by the owners and completely met our needs.

Hope to visit again soon!

Clean, Gorgeous, Serene - Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

The River House was a beautiful and quiet (except for screeching Eagles) absolute gem. We loved our stay here and as we check out this morning wish we had booked it longer. The salmon are spawning in the river and we practiced our amature photography skills on them. What fun we had. The River House is very clean and well stocked. If we ever get back to this part of Canada we would love to stay here again. Thank you!

This cabin in located in the most beautiful spot we could have imagined. Backing onto the Blaeberry River is the most wonderful, relaxing sound. The cabin inside and out is fabulous and the property It sits on is amazing. We very highly recommend this cabin for a great spot to relax, the Golden area to enjoy! The owners are wonderful people and have done a fabulous job!
