Everything you need is here to experience a true island vacations!

Palm Island is one of the last best kept secrets on the Gulf of Mexico. It is only accessible by boat, with one to two ferry’s running generous hours daily for both cars and pedestrians. Check out the ferry details at: . Palm Island is near Englewood, Florida and just north of Boca Grande. Fly into Sarasota, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda or Tampa. The island is seven miles long with plenty of clean sandy beaches and great shelling and shark teeth and the Don Pedro Nature Preserve.

Many years ago, there were three different islands...Knight Island to the north (known as Palm Island), Don Pedro Island in the middle and Little Gasparilla to the south. Years ago, the passes between each one closed up and they became one island, sharing the 7 mile beach. Don Pedro and Palm Island are often referred to interchangeably.

Life on the island is exactly what one dreams about when they think of island life—relaxed, laid back, quiet, subdued, and yet just a quick hop on the ferry to enter the “real world.” There are only about 200 homes on the island—no high rises, causeways, busy roads, street lights, etc. The air is clean; there are few cars, no hustle and bustle from busy roads. Routinely you will hear the buzz of a golf cart, or the crunch of shells beneath bicycle tires. That’s how most people get around the island. All of this is what makes the island extra special, very safe and calm.

The beach is just a few minutes away, whether on foot, bike or golf cart, with rental available on the island. The seven mile long beach is the ultimate for sunrises, sunsets and an abundance of wildlife and shelling. There is one island restaurant and a small store to purchase minimal supplies and fresh fish and meat. Rent kayaks, boats, bicycles, or charter a fishing trip. Enjoy many restaurants, golf courses, and shopping on the mainland. Don’t be surprised to see manatees, tortoise, exotic birds, dolphins and any number of fish on your adventure. You will not forget your stay at Luna Dunes and making island memories! Come experience our little secret. Owner ONLY accepts personal check or bank check, NO credit cards.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time at Palm Island - Luna Dunes. The weather was perfect and it was very relaxing for our family. The house was very clean when we arrived as was expected per the pictures. The pool was a hit with the kids as well as the private road in front of the house they could ride their bikes on and go exploring. I enjoyed the private boat dock with direct access to the Inter-Coastal. The beach chairs were a huge hit for the adults! There were plenty of kitchen utensils and so forth for preparing meals. The grill worked well and we used it almost every night. All in all, we had a great time and the house was very nice and accommodating for our trip.

Absolutely my favorite vacation home ever!

  • 5 of 5

Luna Dunes is an amazing well kept house with great furnishings. A large screened porch and clean heated pool. It's nested in a great location on the island, next to the water. I was able to walk out the back door and catch fish. Suzie made sure we had everything we need, with a really simple check in, and Stu made sure the pool was clean and warm. Suzie also connected us with a great golf cart and kayak rental. The beach was absolutely beautiful and full of shells and sharks teeth. I can't wait to go back and stay longer. Thank you Suzie an Stu!

Apprehensive At First

  • 4 of 5

We made reservations late and fast and didn't really know much about the house. Towing a boat from North Georgia coupled with two traffic jams provided an arrival time dockside of right at dark. We found the upstairs master bedroom to be almost like an open first we thought the house was somewhat weird. Once settled in, the house proved to be a great place and all of my family decided we would rent again. It's not a perfect house. It's not luxurious. It could stand an interior upgrade, but the pool dock and overall location of the house is really really nice. The nicest part of this house is the pool area and just general feel of the landscaping and dock area. The 3rd bedroom is by the pool, and quite frankly we didn't even use it. I would stay here again. The location of the dock is quite convenient for anyone with a boat. Suzie is great to work with. Thanks Suzie!

My family truly enjoyed our vacation in this beautiful home. The homes location provided privacy and true relaxation. The pool was utilized by the kids continuously and it is a quick golf cart ride to the beach. Jim Hicks provided the golf cart which was our primary transportation for the week. Suzi was able to assist with various questions and was helpful when we needed assistance with items around the house. There were dolphins in the canal off the dock and the dock was great to watch the sunrise. Overall, an amazing house in an amazing location! We can't wait to return.

Amazing Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Luna Dunes was more than we ever anticipated! The home was spacious and clean and the pool was warm and inviting. We traveled with our two children (8 and 4) they had an amazing time watching off of the dock, riding around the island on the golf cart and trolling the amazing beach for shells and shark teeth. The home had everything we needed all we did was order up our groceries and other miscellaneous items that we didnt want to pack from the Walmart on the way from the airport.

The sunsets were spectacular and I was even up for a sunrise or two from the dock.

Not one of us wanted the trip to end and in fact we're already thinking about the possibility of a second visit next year.

While we were there we didn't need much but Suzie and Stu were always able to help us out when the smallest questions arose.

~ 3rd Time Was a Charm ~

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely love this home ! After a long day of travel to get here, its so refreshing to open the door and everything be perfect, the house is so clean the air conditioning is on for our comfort and the pool is clean and the perfect temperature .Property managers Suzie and Stu are wonderful. The island is so quiet and peaceful , setting by the pool reading a book all you can hear is the the birds singing and fish jumping in the bay water, doesn't take long to forget that there's a crazy hectic world out there .The beach is so beautiful and the sunsets are spectacular ! We also have to mention Mr Hicks , hes the gentleman we rent our golf cart from, he always has our cart in the driveway fully charged and waiting for us, hes such a pleasant man ! Once again a perfect vacation ! See you next year ! ~
