About Sandra Szoke

Our family resides in Charlotte, NC. We're blessed with a large family - - five children, several in college.

Sandra Szoke purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Sandra Szoke chose Beech Mountain

For many years our family has enjoyed getaways to the North Carolina mountains. With hectic schedules, busy lives, and growing children, our trips to the mountains helped us reconnect, slow down and enjoy each other's company. We relish our time hiking waterfalls, biking along trails, skiing and golfing - - - or simply making s'mores over the fireplace.

We wanted to provide a setting where other couples and families would have an opportunity to relax and reconnect. We hope TimbeRock will bring you, your family and friends a special place to make new memories.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sandra,

I wanted to take a moment to tell you about our stay in the mountains in your cabin earlier this month.

The cabin itself was everything we had hoped for and a great time was had by all. We tubed on Sugar Mountain and skied on Beech. We ate out at various local establishments and made the trip to Boone. We had deer pass right through the back yard and saw them throughout our travels. We had light snow fall almost every evening. In short our family had a fantastic time and I have already been informed that we need to "do this" every year. Odd for a Florida family!

Thanks again and I hope we left your cabin in satisfactory condition.

Wonderful mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights at TimbeRock cabin and it was a lovely getaway. The cabin was clean and everything was as it was described to be.

The heater in the living room worked great! We loved watching for animals from the multiple windows. Deer were everywhere and a family of turkeys were spotted out the kitchen window. Speaking of kitchen...it was fully stocked with pots, pans and dishes which was great!

We were able to put my all wheel drive Subaru to test on the mountain roads which was exciting! Ha! (From Florida!)

Thankful for a pleasant stay at the cabin.

Tara and Chris

Disappointed there was no view

  • 2 of 5

The listing shows a long view, but does not mention that it's not from the property. Cons: no view (the single deciding factor for our trip), house is on the back side of Beech Mountain in a valley (takes a minimum of 20 min to get to Banner elk for the grocery store and more to grandfather mountain/linville falls/Boone, fireplace filled the house with smoke (yes, we had the flue open), the upstairs shower door does not close without a struggle, which causes water to flood down to first floor, the main floor bed was too hard for our liking. The pond and clubhouse were farther than "around the corner". Cable was provided, but with very limited channels. Directions said to take trash to a place, but there was no explanation as to where that was. Trash box at the foot of the road was locked. Pros: it is in the mountains, the air was clean, there is a stream with waterfall within walking distance, the ski resort is close, the upstairs king bed was comfortable, the porch swing was nice, there were plenty of dishes, a coffee maker and keurig, the heater worked, the porch swing was nice. Note: the driveway is steep and gravel. GPS found the house with no problem. There is a fireplace, but no firewood.

Owner's Response: Hi Jennifer, We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed as we work very hard to make sure all of our guests have a wonderful time at our cabin. To be clear, our site absolutely shows photos of a view, however it includes a caption below that states it is from the golf course for those who want to enjoy a day on the greens. We offer that option. Our cabin is tucked away with a stream running through the yard. Coffey Lake, Club Tennis Courts and pool are exactly .3 miles from our cabin. We have considered that to be around the corner, since we never walk there - - we enjoy the stroll. Bears may come searching through trash, so we instruct all of our guests to drop it off at the recycling center across from Freds at the top of the mountain. And yes, the shower door upstairs sticks and we recently had our handyman repair it. We will revisit and make sure it's in good shape and appreciate you letting us know. Hope you had a safe trip home. Sandra

Homey Cabin Near Beech Mountain Resort

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. There were 3 full bedrooms with 2 adequate baths for multiple families. The property was beautiful and we saw many deer all over the neighborhood and by the cabin. The cabin is in a neighborhood setting and while the lots are large, it is not totally private. Also, the televisions upstairs and down did not work 100%. We have little kids and needed to turn on a movie at one point but the DVD player did not function. Couldn't get the tv in the bedroom to turn on. Not a big deal. Also the coffee maker did not work and we had to buy a new one at the general store up the road. All in all it was a pleasant trip and the resort was great and very close for skiiing, tubing and ice skating. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Owner's Response: Hi, I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip. Like many cabins on Beech Mountain, there are other homes on the same quaint dirt roads. While not a neighborhood, per se, there are other homes that share the same road as our cabin. Unfortunately cable can go in and out on a windy mountain. Certainly wish it was more predictable. We keep a DVR player at the cabin with a selection of movies for these times. We will double check functions. Regarding the coffee maker, we provide two 1) generic coffee maker 2) Keurig. I'm assuming you are talking about the generic one which we replaced during our visit to the cabin this weekend. We hope you'll visit again soon.
