About Jim and Barbara Lashua

Jim and Bobbi L.

We purchased this cabin because of our love for the mountains and trout streams. We have four children and their spouses/friends. The cabin is just far enough away for the big cities to get lost in the mountain serenity.

Jim and Barbara Lashua purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Jim and Barbara Lashua chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

We have a rather large family so this cabin is large enough for family reunions, but small enough for a couple to spend a weekend in the mountains next to a stream. A separate guest cabin is also available for guests who might want individual privacy.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin can be rented through three different options: The large cabin ground floor (3 bedrooms); and add the upper floor for larger groups (4 additional bedrooms) for an additional fee; and add the small guest cabin for an additional fee for 2 to 4 persons. It has its own hot tub and kitchenette.

Back to nature

  • 5 of 5

We were exited to be on vacation together so nobody had time to pay attention to any small imperfection. Overall , nice place to stay and I would recommended this place all my friends.

Thanks Jim and Barbara

Great space for a large group

  • 5 of 5

First things first: the location of this property is fantastic! Helton Creek runs alongside the backyard and there's a gorgeous pasture with cows, goats, and horses across the road. You're less than 30 minutes way from Grayson Highlands/Mt. Rogers, and there are plenty of other outdoor recreation opportunities just a short drive away. The house itself is quite large; we rented out both floors of the main cabin as well as the small guest cabin and had plenty of room to spread out between all of us. The kitchen was well equipped, making it easy for us to cook dinner for more than a dozen people. There were plenty of board and lawn games to enjoy, and the fire ring in the side yard was a nice place to spend the evening after a long day of hiking or canoeing. We all felt very comfortable and happy here, and will definitely keep this cabin in mind if we are coming back to the area.

Lovely cabin in a perfect location

  • 4 of 5

We came to town with five families to explore at Grayson Highlands and ride the Virginia Creeper Trail. This cabin accommodated us all with plenty of room, lots to do, and an ideal location between our two destinations. We had a wonderful stay.

It was a nice house and spacious enough for our family..

  • 5 of 5

It was a great experience with activities near by for us to participate in. Yard was big enough for the children to play. They loved fire pit. The rushing waters was peaceful to out spirits. We spent many days on the back porch.

GirlFriend's Weekend

  • 4 of 5

We had total of 10 ladies on our trip. We enjoyed the Cabin so much. It is so peaceful there! Not far from Lansing, we ate at the Country Restaurant with home cook breakfasts and great waitress tell Salina Hello from us :)... Then we went to West Jefferson, wonderful little town. Spent the weekend the weekend at the cabin with fellowship and prayer. We had plenty of room for all 10 ladies. Enjoyed the hot tub! Enjoyed the creek behind the cabin!! Don't forget your paper products (paper towels, TP, etc) :) We did go to the little Lansing Grocery store and it had everything we needed. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay. We hope to be back next year!!!! Thank you!!!!

Beautiful Scene

  • 4 of 5

It's was very peaceful. Only negative was that we could of used a little more time to finish all the cleaning without being rushed. And of course, with 20 people taking showers and doing dishes, the hot water ran out quick.

Owner's Response: Stephanie, Thanks for your review and thanks for cleaning up so nicely. We appreciate the responsiveness. Hot water can be a problem with that large a group. We only have a 50 gallon water heater and it can run out of hot water when everyone uses it at the same time. We enjoyed your company and hope you come back. Best regards, Jim and Bobbi
