Providenciales Villa Rental Photos and Description

5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms on 2 levels with bar, infinity-style pool, hot tub

This unique villa is shaped like an octagon and includes 3700 sq ft of living space on 2 levels. Both levels feature decks that overlook the tranquil, turquoise waters of Chalk Sound.

The lower level has a kitchen, living & dining area, together with 2 bedrooms and a full and half bathroom. The living room includes two couches (one is a sofa-bed), a flat screen TV, DVD player, and xbox. One of the bedrooms has a King bed with french doors that open on to the lower deck and provide magnificent views of the water, The 2nd bedroom can either be set up with a king bed or two twin beds. There is also an side entrance to another 2 piece bath and laundry area beside the pool deck.

The upper level has an great room that spans over 40ft across the back of the villa overlooking Chalk Sound. This impressive room includes two separate sitting areas with 4 couches/loveseats, a bar, and pool table. The bar also includes an ice maker (with purified water) and a cappuccino machine. When the sun goes down and the water views are gone, there is also a large 55' 3D LED TV complete with 3D glasses and DVD player that you can enjoy.

Also included on the upper level are 3 bedrooms. One with a queen bed and an en-suite with a shower, one with a king bed and en-suite with a tub & shower, and a smaller bedroom with two twin beds. There is also a separate 2 piece bath close to the entrance.

The outside of the property offers a Weber BBQ, 2 dining areas and 7 separate sitting areas so that you can have sun or shade at any time of the day (or just get away from the rest of your group - discreetly of There is an impressive 42ft long infinity-style pool that is great for doing laps, but also great fun for the family since it is just 4 1/2 feet deep. There are several pool noodles, squirt guns and pool toys are available for your use (and a little machine that blows them up for you!). If the average 75 degree (20C) night time temperatures are too cold for you, there is also a 6-person hot tub available.

The property also features a wonderful, private, sandy cove that is great for younger kids. By the water there is also a dock, and two small kayaks that you can use to explore Chalk Sound.

The villa itself is located about just 10 minutes (5 miles or 8km) from the airport, and 2 miles (3km) from the turn off to Chalk Sound Drive. It is also just 1-2 miles from what I think are the two most beautiful beaches in the world: Taylor Bay and Sapodilla Bay. At these beaches, on a busy day you might find two dozen people sharing a beautiful sandy beach that spans 1000 feet. The water is crystal clear, and at Taylor Bay, you can usually walk out at least 200 feet before it even begins to feel deep.

Also, just 2 miles from the villa is one of the best restaurants on the island, Las Brisas, but if you want to head towards Grace Bay which is about a 10-15 minute drive, you can find dozens of 4-5 star restaurants that would rival the best restaurants in any major city of the world. Whether you want French, Italian, Thai, Japanese, it is all available to you, but you can just as easily find burgers, pizzas or some local chicken or conch restaurants if you want.

There is a convenience store and gas station located just 2 miles (3km) from the property, but for major grocery shopping there is a 'Quality Supermarket' about 5 miles away, or the main IGA supermarket about 10 miles away. Everything is imported, so prices are quite high - especially if you are looking for a specific brand of cereal, toothpaste or coffee - so bring what you can.

A few additional items available to make your stay more comfortable: (1) Toyota Camry Hybrid available for just $50/day (including insurance), (2) prepaid cell phone - can include 100 min/day to US/UK/Canada for just $20/week, (3) Discounted Golf Passes available with your booking (save up to 40% off regular rates) & both left/right handed set of clubs available at the villa for your use - details on the course available , (4) 2 kayaks available free of charge, (5) 4 bikes also available free of charge

About David McGee

This is a picture of our family with Chalk Sound in the background. We are from Toronto, Canada and our kids are 9, 11, 12.

David McGee purchased this villa in 2013

Why David McGee chose Turks & Caicos

We immediately fell in love with the beautiful turquoise waters of Chalk Sound and thought this was just the perfect property for us. Built on the rocks sloping down to the water, it is similar in many ways to a cottage back in Canada, but except for one important difference - it doesn't get COLD!!!

What makes this villa unique

This property is truly unique.

First of all, it is built in the shape of an octagon. Not only does that provide better views of Chalk Sound, but that combined with it's concrete construction makes the building virtually hurricane-proof.

Secondly, it has a small private cove/inlet that we thought would be amazing for our friends (and renters) that have small kids.

Finally, we really loved all of the outdoor seating areas. Many of the villas we looked at only had one deck area by the pool with maybe an umbrella you could use to get some shade. This property has SEVEN separate areas that you can sit and either enjoy the sun, the shade, the waves, or the pool depending on your mood. It is truly remarkable from that perspective.

Private beach was a huge perk!

  • 5 of 5

Having a private beach with kayaks, small boats and paddle boards at arm’s reach was amazing. I took the kayak out every morning. Often times I was the only person on lovely Chalk Sound- it was like having a huge national park all to yourself. Remember to account for the water’s current. I highly recommend starting your trip going against the current so that you’ll have an easy time back. Another cool thing about Chalk Sound is the high salt content and warmth of the water both leading to a very high bouncy making it super cool to just float on your back.

The southern area has mangrove trees you can glide through and the little islands are awesome to check out.

Just up from the beach was a private patio I napped at each afternoon- just a touch of bug spray (don't forget to bring some) made it a very comfy/relaxing experience. The pool and hot tub were very nice- I felt so spoiled/lucky floating in the pool while overlooking Chalk Sound. 5 of us got ear infections and the doctor said this is common when swimming in well water pools on the island. Not sure if it could be prevented by better chemical balance maintenance of the pool or not.

There are several levels of decks so if you are with a large group it's easy to find your own space. There were also a lot of beach toys so no need to bring any. There was a child's life vest, but one of the old, cheaper ones- yet it was still fine for our cousin who didn't bring her own. We brought life vests for our children from home and it was totally worth it.

The salt water plays havoc on the wood so make sure to wear flip flops when walking on the decks so you don't get splinters (I walked around barefoot and was fine because I was careful, but other's had problems).

The booze is expensive, but if you buy the local rum (Bambarra) and beer (Turks Head) you’ll pay half the cost and it is soooo good! If you do this with all the items you can you’ll be pleasantly surprised and not pay so much. The local brand of cereal for example was just as good as any of our US name brands.

This was a family reunion so 16 of us stayed comfortably in the house. Some of the rooms got hot, but not bad considering you're in the Caribbean and if you don't want to be hot you should go somewhere else- in other words, it's hot on Provo and all the air conditioning in the world isn't going to change that.

Taylor Bay is an out of the way beach walking distance from the house. It is hard to find- but worth it. The Bay’s home owners

Quiet crystal water location on Bay

  • 3 of 5

The Chalk Bay location is perfect for those wanting a peaceful location on the quiet side of the island.

The Good: Stunning hillside location, kayaks, water toys, large house, nice kitchen and common areas. Good parking. The local agent listed in the VRBO site has been replaced and the new person who helped us when the car was not at the airport and when the power was turned off by the utilities company. Fresh fish market close by; ask a local how to get there. The owner David was helpful and procured extra kayaks for our group, but did not send the needed information on house entry until after I called him the night before our departure which was stressful.

Not so good: maintenance is overdue. The entire house needs interior painting and updating. Hot tub works intermittently as others have reported and had not been filled in some time. Unheated swimming pool. Average furnishings, small bedrooms. Cleaning staff was at the house at 9am on the day of our departure. It a long, traffic filled drive (allow at least 30 minutes) to tourist areas downtown, restaurants, golf club, snorkeling.

Not acceptable: Rental car was not at the airport when we arrived. Other renters have also reported this. Gas tank was half full. Owner should look into this recurrent problem.

Owner's Response: Hi Diane - I am little surprised by your review. Your email to me following your stay was: "Turks and Caicos is a superb vacation spot. We enjoyed our time at your house. What a location! " I am sorry about the problems you had with my car not being at the airport when you arrived. I don't believe that is something that has ever happened before, but I am glad my property manager was able to help you get to the villa without incident and deliver the car later in the afternoon. With the year-round warm weather in Turks where the temperature rarely drops below 65F/18C, you generally don't need a heated pool - and except for the big resorts, most pools aren;t heated. The hot tub does work well - there is a new remote control that operates it and the pool lights and it is heated with a large 400lb propane tank that has to be refilled every few months - unfortunately, I believe that needed to be done during your stay. The villa is located on the Chalk Sound peninsula which is 10-15 minutes from the downtown/airport and 20-25 minutes from from the main tourist area in Grace Bay. In less than 5 minutes, you can enjoy the beaches at Taylor/Sapodilla Bay, or dine at either Las Brisas ior Bugaloos. With those so close-by and having the relaxing tranquil turquoise waters of Chalk Sound at your doorstop every day the small commute to Grace Bay when you need to go there should not be a concern. beautiful location-best vacation ever

  • 4 of 5

This was the vacation of a lifetime. Our group consisted of 13 people -7 adults and 6 children ages 5-13. When we arrived the property it was spic and span . There are places for everyone to just hang out, or be quiet and read and has every video game or movie that one could want .The kids would go from paddle boarding to kayaking to swimming in the pool on in chalk sound. In the morning we would get coffee and watch the most inspiring sunrises' near the hot tub and at night the sunsets were equally stunning. Betty the property manager was quick to respond if we had questions and to fix anything. The pool and hot tub were cleaned and taken care of 2 times while we were there. I only wish we could do this every year as we all agree this has been a once in a lifetime vacation in the most beautiful place ever. My friend had stayed here last year and recommended highly. The only downside was the downstairs back bedroom that was near the air conditioner, when it went on i felt like i was on an apollo mission- No other place on this beautiful Sound offers the amenities that Apego Del Mar offers.Thankyou for sharing your home

Owner's Response: Hi Marilyn - Thanks for your review and so glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the noisy AC unit downstairs, we did install 2 new AC units just a couple of years ago, but somehow a geico managed damage one of those, so we had to do a temporary fix until we can get the replacement parts from the States. Hope you can come back and stay with us again in the future. David

Terrific Vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Turks and Caicos but hopefully will not be the last. We had 3 couples vacationing

for a week at this beautiful villa and we had a blast. The description of the house was very accurate.

The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. There were lots of activities without leaving the house

and there were lots of places to just hang out or read a book! The little beach was so nice and made it very easy

to use the kayaks and paddle boards. The hot tub had some issues...sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.

Also, the air conditioner downstairs didn't work and it did get uncomfortable especially at night.

Overall, it was a lovely house and we would definitely rent it again!

PS. The Camry was not available for some reason and we had to rent a car which was unexpected. Check on the

car before you get there.

Owner's Response: Hi Teresa - I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at the villa. I hope you get a chance to come back and stay again in the future. Since your stay we have added a new control panel for the hot tub and replaced the AC unit downstairs. Also, sorry for any confusion over the car rental, but that needs to be booked separately in advance because I do rent out a few different locations and offer my car on a first-come-first-served basis. I can also help getting a discount with one of the local rental companies too if needed in the future. Thanks, David

Fantastic House!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our 3 kids (ages 19-24) and an extra, and had an absolutely fabulous time! The view from the house is as pretty as any we saw on our trip, and we felt like Chalk Sound was our own private little lake. We did go over to Taylor Bay to see the beach one day, but decided that the set up at the house was so good there was no reason to go back. It is a small beach area at the house, but we thought it was perfect - so nice to have it to ourselves! We swam out quite a bit, used the kayaks a number of times, and enjoyed playing some games in the cove area. The hot tub wasn't working while we were there, but we didn't miss it - plenty to do. The house was very clean, nicely furnished, very well equipped with anything you might need, and the owner was very accommodating. And there are so many outdoor nooks that everyone could have had their own area if they'd wanted! The Turks and Caicos are beautiful, and we had a fun day on a fishing excursion and another day snorkeling, but what made our trip was definitely being at that house - a great find!

Great Villa for Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 9, including 3 kids aged 7-10 enjoyed a week in the villa in July. We used the kayaks to explore Chalk Sound and this villa appeared to be the only one with private direct beach access to the water (the other villas had docks) which was a major advantage enjoyed by all. The beach area is much nicer than the picture suggests.

Another highlight of the villa was the extensive outdoor space. We could all congregate on the main deck area, or retreat to quieter areas with a book and cocktail for some relaxing time.

Most nights had a steady breeze which kept the bugs away. The outdoor fans were not operational so on calm nights, we had to retreat indoors.

The close proximity to the secluded beach of Taylor Bay is a bonus.
