Don Giovanni is a spacious, stylishly furnished apartment. With its niches, arches and vaults, it is an impressive example of Mediterranean architecture with a distinctively Moorish feel. This large apartment is 240 square meters (2500 square feet), covering the whole of the ground floor of Casa San Matteo and the dependence in the lower floor. The private terrace, at the exclusive use of the Don Giovanni guests, is one of the most beautiful in Positano and offers an impressive view over the village, the beach and the gulf.
The price quoted for the apartment is an all inclusive one. There are no 'add ons' such as final cleaning, electricity etc . These are all included in the price.
The apartment can host 5 to 10 guests.
Our three holiday apartments are set in a magnificent, historical, privately-owned villa build in the 18th Century and carefully renovated. It is situated in the heart of Positano, in 10 minutes walking distance to the pedestrian village centre. The terraces offer one of the most beautiful views over the sea and the village. The site, surrounded by orchards and gardens, assures a quiet and relaxing stay. The extraordinarily thick walls keep the interior pleasantly cool during the summertime. We offer arrangements from 2 to 18 persons with all required comforts and facilities, including daily guest assistance and housekeeping service. Our personnel speaks English, French, German and Italian.
The use of a car in Positano is not recommended. On the inner road parking places are limited and reserved for residents. Private parking lots are available at approximately 20 Euro per day. You can park for free on certain areas on the National Road (Strada Nazionale). For the unloading of luggage you can stop the car at the top of Via Monte, the little stairway that leads to Casa San Matteo. Porter service can be requested. A regular bus service is available every 20 minutes. The bus stops at the top of Via Monte. It is possible to reach most places in Positano, including the beach, in a ten to fifteen minutes walk. We provide contact information for taxi booking.
The price quoted for the apartment is 'all inclusive' there are no extras such as final cleaning, electricity etc to pay for.
I was brought up in Positano, studied in Switzerland and now live in Rome, from where I manage the booking activity of the villa in Positano and run a company advising business.
Massimo Predieri purchased this villa in 1964
This fascinating historical villa with its airy high vaulted ceilings, arches and niches, was bought by my family back in 1964 with the intention to move in after furbishing. We used to live in Positano in another villa located higher in the village. Eventually we decided that it was too big for us and divided it into three holiday apartments.
The villa is an impressive example of the classical Mediterranean architecture, with a perfect setting half way between the upper Positano and the beach, surrounded by quiet gardens, lemon, fig and many other trees.
What a wonderful house you have there...we truly love it, and hope that circumstances will allow us to stay there again in the future. (B.S., New York, NY, USA, July 2002) - Everything was wonderful when we stayed at Tosca in May. The view was spectacular from the terrace. We spent most evenings with a bottle of wine sitting on the terrace watching the lights go on around Positano. Having rented other places in Italy, as well as, England, we appreciated how clean our 'home' was. (Cathy Lusk, Austin, Texas, May 2002)

We had the best vacation ever in this huge villa with the enormous terass where we basically spent our whole vacation on! We had everything we needed really, and John was extremely helpful with all our concern and made us feel like home.
We're definitely going to stay at Don Giovanni again!
Thank you so much.
No words can describe the wonderful vacation that we had at Casa San Matteo, Don Giovanni of Positano! Our adventure began after arriving and trekking down many steps and coming upon the Villa with all its scenic beauty! Giovanni was there to greet us and help us with our luggage. That first afternoon, after the long ride from Rome, we were treated to a wonderful luncheon prepared by Marco! Wine, olives, cheese, bread, everything you think of when thinking Italian food! The Villa is beautiful! Centuries old, it retains all its charm. The view is breathtaking. The villa itself is very comfortable, with plenty of room for more than our party of 7. The 4 bedrooms and 4 baths were perfect! The kitchen had everything to make wonderful meals. The livingroom and dining rooms were perfect for meals and the after dinner wine. The main verandah was enjoyed daily. Just sitting and reading a book or watching the town below, it was all wonderful! The morning sun was welcomed on the deck while sitting and drinking our espresso. At least 300 steps and some walkways to the street that led to town was taken daily. We certainly got our exercise! We shopped in town, ate at local restaurants on the hill near the villa, and walked to the bakery and markets every morning for that evenings dinner. We took the boat over to Capri and spent the day walking the island. We took a morning and visited Pompeii, which was a site to behold! Some nights we cooked dinner, others, we went out to taste the local dishes. Thank you so much for the trip of a lifetime! Giovanni, Marco and Massimo!! We shall return!!
I have spent the New Year’s holidays in the apartment Don Giovanni – Casa San Matteo from December 30 to January 4th. I was with my husband, our three teenage daughters and a two friends, a party of 7. We had plenty of room and could easily have another two people with us because of the generous layout of the villa. Everything was perfectly clean and well maintained, we greatly enjoyed the beautiful and huge terrace, from where we assisted to the unbelievable new year’s fireworks. In the large kitchen we prepared our new year’s dinner for 11 people, which was served in the large dining area, all comfortably seated. It was my second time in Casa San Matteo, the first was in July during the summer season, and we will certainly come back again in this splendid and comfortable villa. Highly recommend.
I really appreciate Giovanni and Marco for they professional and kind assistance any time we have been requested, giving us the best advise for Restaurants, outing, shopping, and spending some time with us telling charming stories about the Amalfi coast.
Casa San Matteo a 17th century villa has the most amazing views from its balconies. Ten of us hired the villa for two weeks and with the aid of Marco we had an amazing time. We took the tours Marco suggested and one of the highlights was the boat trip to the Isle of Capri which he organised for us. The Villa was spacious with modern amenities and balconies with views of Positano. The only downside is the amount of steps but then it did keep us fit. The restaurants were close and so were the shops. The villa is close to the bus also. Great place and great people.
We stayed in Tosca and Carmen not in Don Giovanni). The location is fantastic. 180 times 180 degrees view from the terrace. Very quiet and private location. The flats are very comfortable and spacey. The housekeeper, John, is extremely helpful. Parking in Positano is an issue. We used a guarded parking space 500 metres down the road. From the road there is approximately 100 steps down to reach the flats. To reach the beach it is 5-600 steps but if you use the internal Positano bus it is 150-200. So you have to be in OK shape. We had 2 children aged 3 and 6 years and that worked fine.
Positano, the jewel of Italy’s Amalfi Coast, clings by a miracle to a mountainside down to the still Mediterranean Sea – a resort that attracts Europe’s beautiful people but retains its small-town charm. (Diana Georgeff, The Age 02/08/03). Positano is build like pyramids of colourful Mediterranean houses around the main beach and overlooks one of the worlds most beautiful bay. The small pedestrian streets around the main church build, with many shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafes, the actual centre of the village. The regional food of the coastline uses mainly pasta, zucchini, fish, fresh buffalo mozzarella, lemons and olive oil. Local restaurants represent the excellence Italian cuisine and take care to hang on to the traditions of cooking. The food will be presented with flair and without formality.
Fascinating activities include boat touring along the beautiful coast to the Capri island, to Sorrento or to Amalfi, food and wine tasting, excursions to the wold famous archaeological sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Greek temples of Paestum. From Amalfi it is a short drive up to the magical town of Ravello, with Villa Cimbrone and its gardens, surely one of the highlights of any visit to the Amalfi Coast.
A tracking tour on the Path of Gods overlooking Positano, the cliffed coast and the deep blue sea is an unforgettable experience.
