Our three holiday apartments are set in a magnificent, historical, privately-owned villa build in the 18th Century and carefully renovated. It is situated in the heart of Positano, in 10 minutes walking distance to the pedestrian village centre. The terraces offer one of the most beautiful views over the sea and the village. The site, surrounded by orchards and gardens, assures a quiet and relaxing stay. The extraordinarily thick walls keep the interior pleasantly cool during the summertime. We offer arrangements from 2 to 18 persons with all required comforts and facilities, including daily guest assistance and housekeeping service. Our personnel speaks English, French, German and Italian.
The use of a car in Positano is not recommended. On the inner road parking places are limited and reserved for residents. Private parking lots are available at approximately 20 Euro per day. You can park for free on certain areas on the National Road (Strada Nazionale). For the unloading of luggage you can stop the car at the top of Via Monte, the little stairway that leads to Casa San Matteo. Porter service can be requested. A regular bus service is available every 20 minutes. The bus stops at the top of Via Monte. It is possible to reach most places in Positano, including the beach, in a ten to fifteen minutes walk. We provide contact information for taxi booking.
The price quoted for the apartment is 'all inclusive' there are no extras such as final cleaning, electricity etc to pay for.
I was brought up in Positano, studied in Switzerland and now live in Rome, from where I manage the booking activity of the villa in Positano and run a company advising business.
Massimo Predieri purchased this apartment in 1964
This fascinating historical villa with its airy high vaulted ceilings, arches and niches, was bought by my family back in 1964 with the intention to move in after furbishing. We used to live in Positano in another villa located higher in the village. Eventually we decided that it was too big for us and divided it into three holiday apartments.
The villa is an impressive example of the classical Mediterranean architecture, with a perfect setting half way between the upper Positano and the beach, surrounded by quiet gardens, lemon, fig and many other trees.
What a wonderful house you have there...we truly love it, and hope that circumstances will allow us to stay there again in the future. (B.S., New York, NY, USA, July 2002) - Everything was wonderful when we stayed at Tosca in May. The view was spectacular from the terrace. We spent most evenings with a bottle of wine sitting on the terrace watching the lights go on around Positano. Having rented other places in Italy, as well as, England, we appreciated how clean our 'home' was. (Cathy Lusk, Austin, Texas, May 2002)
It was a perfect home for our one week trip to Positano. The rooms were spacious. The Bathrooms and showers excellent. The views from Balcony spectacular. It was clean. Kitchen had all the amenities we needed. It was nice to have a washer and dryer. Internet worked well.
Marco the owner was there daily to make sure all well. He was very helpful with restaurants and excursions.
Giovanni took good care of the house every day.
Its a gem this property.

I have spent the New Year’s holidays in the apartment Don Giovanni – Casa San Matteo from December 30 to January 4th. I was with my husband, our three teenage daughters and a two friends, a party of 7. We had plenty of room and could easily have another two people with us because of the generous layout of the villa. Everything was perfectly clean and well maintained, we greatly enjoyed the beautiful and huge terrace, from where we assisted to the unbelievable new year’s fireworks. In the large kitchen we prepared our new year’s dinner for 11 people, which was served in the large dining area, all comfortably seated. It was my second time in Casa San Matteo, the first was in July during the summer season, and we will certainly come back again in this splendid and comfortable villa.
I sincerely appreciate Giovanni and Marco for their professional and warm assistance any time in giving us advise for restaurants, shopping, and telling charming and interesting stories about the Amalfi coast.Great experience.Highly recommend.
We visited Casa Matteo, on Via Monte in Positano for our 30th anniversary. It could not have been more lovely. The views from our terrace and every window were breath taking. The furnishings, appointments and gardens were inviting and comfortable, especially after a long day of exploring the town and surrounding area. We enjoyed Amalfi by boat as well as Capri.
The little kitchen was well used, as just above us, on Via Pasitea, we patronized the small grocery with a helpful proprietor, Franco, who offered good wines, cheeses and produce.. We will also always remember, the kindness of the owner, who stopped in and helped us sort out the TV, for English, and the house manager, Giovanni, who was always available and answered our many questions with a smile. We enjoyed our last Positano very special meal, at L'Incanto on the beach, I would recommend this charming apartment whole heartedly!
Even prior to our arrival at this beautiful apartment, we were taken care of by Massimo, the owner. His quick and thoughtful response to emails was very helpful in planning our trip to Positano. Upon arrival, we were met by Giovanni, the manager, who effortlessly and with a smile, carried our luggage to our apartment. The apartment itself is truly lovely. The linens fresh, and clean; the bed very comfortable; the bathroom is generous and gorgeous; the kitchen is well equipped; the walls have beautiful paintings by "Dado", an artist and Uncle to Massimo and his brother, Marco; it is quiet and serene; and the terrace, with its view of Positano and the Sea - superb! What really makes this place exceptional and stand out from the rest, is the great care taken by the owners and by their manager, Giovanni, to ensure a wonderful experience. Giovanni helped us plan our hike on the "Path of the Gods", he provided us with a map, bus time tables, where to go, when to get off, gave us his cell number, just in case, etc.. (We did the hike - and highly recommend it - it was one of the highlights of our trip!) The night before we left (for a reasonable price) Giovanni prepared a delicious 4 course dinner, made with fresh produce from his garden, homemade pasta and two wonderful wines. He prepared the table on the terrace, flowers, music....it was beyond our expectation and the perfect ending to a perfect vacation in Positano. We definitely recommend staying at this beautiful villa - you won't be disappointed.
Positano, the jewel of Italy’s Amalfi Coast, clings by a miracle to a mountainside down to the still Mediterranean Sea – a resort that attracts Europe’s beautiful people but retains its small-town charm. (Diana Georgeff, The Age 02/08/03). Positano is build like pyramids of colourful Mediterranean houses around the main beach and overlooks one of the worlds most beautiful bay. The small pedestrian streets around the main church build, with many shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafes, the actual centre of the village. The regional food of the coastline uses mainly pasta, zucchini, fish, fresh buffalo mozzarella, lemons and olive oil. Local restaurants represent the excellence Italian cuisine and take care to hang on to the traditions of cooking. The food will be presented with flair and without formality.
Fascinating activities include boat touring along the beautiful coast to the Capri island, to Sorrento or to Amalfi, food and wine tasting, excursions to the wold famous archaeological sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Greek temples of Paestum. From Amalfi it is a short drive up to the magical town of Ravello, with Villa Cimbrone and its gardens, surely one of the highlights of any visit to the Amalfi Coast.
A tracking tour on the Path of Gods overlooking Positano, the cliffed coast and the deep blue sea is an unforgettable experience.
