Why Jason Miller chose Rocky Mountain National Park

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Great views of mountains all around us and so close to town it is just awesome. We have been looking at Estes for a while now. This property came up for sale, so we took a family vote. With a 16 yr old daughter and 14 yr old son, I thought that I would have a challenge ahead of me with convincing them. Low and behold, 100% = Let's go to Colorado!

This property previously was The Black Dog Inn Bed & Breakfast. The Millers will be living in the main home and renting out the unattached units around the 1 acre rustic property. We are a very FRIENDLY property. We do not judge by gender race, sexuality, or political views. We all just want to Get Along. This property previously was The Black Dog Inn Bed & Breakfast. The Millers will be living in the main home and renting out the unattached units around the 1 acre rustic property.

What makes this cabin unique

Located HIGH above the town of Estes Park, our wooded acre has a commanding view of Lumpy Ridge(a well known rock climbing formation), Mummy Range, and Mt. Olympus. We are only a short 5 minute drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. The footpath in front of the property connects with the scenic Riverwalk and also the 4 mile path around Lake Estes. This property has Luxury accommodations at affordable rates. We can see clear views of Lumpy Ridge, Twin Owls, Mt Olympus, and even Mummy Mountain. We are only 1/2 mile from town. We love to hike and spend time outdoors in the wonders of Nature. There are literally hundreds of hiking and climbing trails minutes from our front door. Longs Peak, Twin Owls, Mummy Mountain, Twin Sisters, Lilly Mountain, etc.

Unbelievable Spot in Estes!

  • 5 of 5

I have to start out by saying that the photos don't do it justice! The space is spectacular. You are just minutes away from so many hot spots in Estes Park and plenty of them are within walking distance. The cabin was cozy and perfect. Half the time we stayed there and ate dinner outside on a picnic table outside the front door- the other times we walked to a pub or to a fabulous brewery right across the street. Who is we? My precious pup cargo and myself. The property is more than dog friendly and I can tell you that neither one of us wanted to leave. The hosts are spectacular- greeting you with a cold beer and all of the amenities you might need during your stay. We walked daily to a dog park thanks to their recommendation and explored a unique distillery on the way out of town. I can't say it enough- this pace is perfect. We will be coming back!

Enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for four nights in July 2017. Stayed in the Miners Cabin; which was very nice and clean. If you are tall (i.e. over 5' 6"); probably not the place for you as the bedroom ceiling is very low on one side. Only minor issue was that the place did not have air conditioning and it would get a little warm during the day. However, the owner supplied plenty of fans and the evening temps helped cool the cabin pretty quickly after sundown. Beyond this, it was a very enjoyable stay. The owners were very nice, and seemed very approachable. Their dogs were great too. We would recommend this place to others, and would consider the Rustic Acre again if we are back in Estes Park.

Owner's Response: David Thanks so much for the review. It has been unusually warm up here for this time of year. Not many hotels in Estes have air conditioning, which we weren't use to either coming from Ohio. We have been thinking of getting one for that unit, since it is an old miners cabin. I hope to see you back again soon and glad you enjoyed your stay. Our dogs loved you too. Jason and Joanne

Perfect in every way!!!

  • 5 of 5

We debated about going to a new/different place for our vacation; we had so much fun at the Rustic Acre the first time we were there, a little over two years ago, we decided to try it again! What a great decision!!! It was nice to know exactly what to expect. Jason and Joanne are awesome hosts who immediately made us feel like old friends! We stayed in the same cabin, it was cool to see some changes, yet comforting to remember things how they had been when we stayed before! The cabin was so clean, with just enough decoration and yet plenty of room for our stuff. We played 18 holes just a few miles from the Rustic Acre, at the Estes Park Golf Course, what an amazing and beautiful course!! Two little girls who were also staying at the Rustic Acre told me about playing in snow after riding horseback into the mountains! We also went to a Rockies baseball game, but mostly we just enjoyed hanging out in our cabin; taking long lazy whirlpool baths between the times of working on hobbies, like perfecting sour dough bread in the higher elevation, reading or just being able to spend quiet and uninterrupted time together! We planned on walking across the street to go bowling but never quite made it! Jason and Joanne gave us a tour of the new Deer Mountain Loft... Wow!!! That place is simply amazing!!! We love the Prospect Miner's Cabin; it is just right for us, we know just how to 'set up house'!! It was great seeing the dogs, especially Delilah, she was only a small puppy on our first stay! Daisy, Harley and Delilah make us and our little Sophie feel so welcome... they just wonder what special treats we might have for them! The Rustic Acre is our little slice of heaven and we will be returning as soon as possible!!! Thank you, Jason and Joanne for making our stay such a wonderful, relaxing experience!!

Owner's Response: Monte and Jackie You are welcomed anytime. I am so glad that this place is like your home when you come here. Your hospitality is wonderful also. I loved watching Sophie so you could go to a baseball game. I should add that as a bonus to staying here. Enjoy the rest of your summer and hope to see you next year. Jason and Joanne
