About Jim and Janelle Riley

Transplants both - one from Anchorage and one from Upstate NY, we met on rollerblades in Venice Beach. We got married in Napa CA, and moved into our Venice Bungalow in 2002...not long after along came a couple of cool kids named Braeden and Emme. So we rebuilt the Bungalow and started our little family. We wanted to find a mountain home to allow our kids to enjoy and appreciate nature like we had the good fortune to do as kids. We found that place and so much more on Eagle Point in Big Bear. We've created many memories over the years with friends and family - from swimming, boating, fishing and hiking in summer to skiing, sledding and cuddling in front of a toasty fire with a classic movie in the winter - every season is special in Big Bear! We try to get up as much as possible, to reconnect with nature and with each other. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Jim and Janelle Riley purchased this lodge in 2011

Why Jim and Janelle Riley chose Big Bear

We bought our Lodge in 2011 from custom builders Bob & Gina Gilligan, who live next door and have become our good friends. They built the home as a Designer Showcase, and they spared no detail on the design or function. What they created is a mountain masterpiece and we feel blessed to own this unique Big Bear Lodge. This is the quintessential SoCal Mountain Lake House, with plenty of room for friends and family - featuring true Log Home beauty and unparalleled Lake and Sunset views. The location on Eagle Point is private and serene, but it's also close to great skiing, the Village shops and restaurants, and other area attractions. There is simply no better way to experience the beauty and splendor of Big Bear Lake and our magnificent San Bernardino Mountains! Live it, Up!

What makes this lodge unique

When you stay at a resort Lodge like this, you expect the luxury of a 5 star hotel, but you also want the comforts of home. That's what we strive to provide to our guests. Just minutes from everything you want to do while visiting Big Bear, but secluded on Eagle Point so it's quiet and peaceful. It is a custom Log Lodge with cathedral ceilings and windows overlooking the Lake, but it's also warm and inviting, featuring a custom chef's kitchen and community dining for 12, with cozy furnishings and entertainment spaces on every floor. It was featured in the independent thriller 'Silent Retreat' which was filmed in the Spring of 2013. But we always say the best films are shot by friends and family, and our returning guests who sometimes share them with us. Days on the lake or in the mountains, preparing and sharing great meals and memorable special events, and relaxing with a glass of wine under a starry sky; those are the pictures we love to see and the moments we love to share!

Just close your eyes and think about Mountain high, Lakefront serenity. You'll be here sooner than you think, and we hope you come back over and over again.

So much winter fun!

  • 5 of 5

We are not very experienced with winter weather and winter activities.

The owners were so helpful with suggestions, and we knew exactly what to expect about the neighborhood, the skiing ideas, the time of day to get up and down the mountain.

The house is so comfortable and we had a great time relaxing after ski lessons. We cooked together, watched TV all together, built snowmen together.

There were 3 families in our group, and we thought it would be total chaos. But the kids played in the game room, while the adults hung out in the bar area. We all had our own bathrooms, and it was really hard to leave.

Our family highly recommends this destination!!

Just got back home today from spending the weekend at Eagle Point and we can't stop looking at pictures and videos. I surprised the wife with a weekend trip to Big Bear for her 30th birthday. Needless to say this house ended up surprising us both! Everything was perfect, from the gourmet kitchen, beautiful views, air hockey, hot tub, master suite... EVERYTHING! We spent a day at snow summit snowboarding, that was awesome (a little over a mile away)! Janelle was great and very accommodating. She was available for any/all questions. Look no further, this is the one! Thanks again!!

Perfect way to spend New Years!!

  • 5 of 5

We decided on going "BIG" and doing Big Bear right, which is one reason I chose this lodge. The owners were very helpful from the beginning with any questions I had and made the process easy and stress free! This was the main reason I decided to rent this beautiful home! The location was easy to get to while still being private and secluded. We were lucky enough to have snow all 4 days and even experienced our first real snowfall on New Years Eve! We came prepared with all our food to cook in the beautiful kitchen so we wouldn't have to leave. However, for the things we forgot to pack we simply drove about a mile away to Stater Brothers. We also drove to Snow Summit one day to take the kids snow tubing. In reality we didn't have to leave since the property has lake access and we had all the snow we needed! This house has everything you need and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience Big Bear the right way!! I wish I could post pictures of our wonderful stay in this beautiful place! We will definitely try to do this again!!

Great house on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a long weekend getaway with a few friends and had an amazing time. The house had everything you needed to prepare great meals, relax in the hot tub with an amazing view of the lake, kick back and watch football in comfortable theater style seating and even have an air hockey tournament. The owner was very friendly and helpful too!

Ahhhhmazing! ❤️

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time using Even though the website was very helpful we could not say enough about our experience with the owners of the home. It was beyond amazing. Since we were traveling with a big group they help relieve the stress ;).The house had everything we needed to make sure our family trip was a success and we didn't need to leave the house once they had everything and anything you need. The pics of the house on the website are nice but the house is beautiful from to the entry way to the back of the house! Thank you again Riley family for such a great experience! We can't wait to plan our next trip in this house!!!
