Great cabin for a family trip - had a wonderful time

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and the surrounding properties were wonderful. The cabin was spacious, with plenty of space for relaxing and slumbering. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds and the loft. All in all the cabin was as described in the pictures and in the descriptions. The wood used to build the place was distinctive and the ambiance added to our stay.

The owners checked on us a couple of times, and were very friendly and made sure our needs were met. Their family dog, Lobo, was a hit with the kids.

The surrounding property is beautiful, with lakes, a mountainside, and open areas to explore. While we were not out tubing or skiing, or visiting Asheville, exploring the surrounding property was fun, as well as sitting by the fireplace.

The kitchen was spacious and stocked with everything we needed.

All in all, I don't think we could ask for more from either the cabin itself, or from the owners. I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend highly.

Amazing winter wonderland weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This house was amazing! The pictures don't do it justice! Steve was all around amazing, always emailed me back, made sure we got in ok, and even brought over his pet wolf! The firepit outside was perfect, and the hottub was the icing on the cake. This was a perfect house for a large group, we all agreed we will definitely be back! Thank you Steve!

Perfect oasis!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I got married on Saturday August 12th, 2017. We rented Lakeside and Hummingbird for 2 nights and everything was so quaint and beautiful! There are only a few suggestions that i can think of: recycling and showing the level changes on the deck with the hot tub are two. I am big on, recycling because of the beauty God made i want to do my part keeping it beautiful, so having a recycling option/recycling can and knowing it is getting recycled. The second issue there was blue tape, but with how crazy excited i was i sometimes almost missed the level changes by the hot tub. My son actually did fall, but didn't get too hurt. A sign or brighter longer tape across top and bottom of steps needs a little more attention. The beds are actually getting a little worn out and i could feel the springs, but the linens especially the comforters on the beds were so comfy and CLEAN when we got there!! The bedroom downstairs with the hot tub really needs a shower because i had to go all the way up to shower to give everyone staying privacy. I am just not a fan of getting in bed with chlorine on me. Lastly, when we were packing up, we were not sure if we needed to move the chairs and white cloths from the dock and honestly someone from our party may have, but i still don't know if they did or not. I really cannot say anything else, but positive. Our wedding was everything we could have ever imagined and more. Running the hill with Lobo was amazing because he was giving me a pep talk!! Seeing Steve and his son work so kindly to help make our wedding perfect was a testament to how this place keeps such an amazing reputation!! Waking up and sitting on the deck listening and seeing God's beauty was the perfect end. I want to live in the hummingbird cabin!!! Lobo came up right around check out time and said good bye that was also so sweet! Thank you Steve and Joy! Wish we could have stayed longer or honeymooned there! You created a weekend we will always remember! Oh, and thank you for the eggs!!

It was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

All we needed to bring was our food. Everything else was provided to make life normal. The setting was nature, on the side of a mountain, and overlooking small private lakes. The cabin was large and had plenty of room to interact as a group or enjoy privacy individually or in smaller groups. Steve (owner) was super accomodating and friendly. The grounds were great, Lobo (the wolf) was friendly and very cool, and the chapel, covered bridge, reception barn, and "Hitching Post" were all cool to explore.

We were 15 ranging from 5-62 and everyone had a blast. We went tubing on the French Broad (30 min away), fishing on the grounds, playing foosball, air hockey, hiking, rocking in the rocking chairs overlooking the lake, hot tubbing, and sitting around the firepit making smores for the kids and telling stories til early morning. We are already talking about our next visit.

Owner's Response: What makes our place very special is the way the people that come here look at all the great things we have done to make this a family place. Fire pits, lakes, fishing, trails, things to visit, the location only 3 miles from interstate, the chapel, wifi, direct TV, well stocked kitchen. The way my wife cleans every house. but most of all our attitude. People pay good money to come here the least they can get is someone that appreciates them being here. Our Attitude is to help these families have a great time. Whatever we have to do to help with that we do. Thanks to this very large family from all over for have there annual gathering at Memory Mountain. The owner.

Perfect Family Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We rented Hummingbird as part of our wedding weekend and the groom's family stayed here. The best feature (according to my 3y/o niece) was the tree growing right through the middle of the cabin. It was deemed the treehouse and was a favorite hangout. Being right next door to Lakeside with a small walking path between meant easy access to the wedding reception and other activities, but you were able to pop back to your room if needed/wanted. As with every cabin review I've left I want to make sure people understand how amazing Steve and his family are in making sure your vacation is the best it can be. I will never be able to say enough good things about Memory Mountain.
