mazing and Magic place!
I love this house. Clean, confortable and beautiful; well located near San Miguel de Allende downtown, you can walk in very safe neighbourhood. Come to San Miguel de Allende!!! The best of Mexico and America in same City. Mrs Leticia is really kind person who keeps this place magical. I recommend the housekeeping and cooking services too (Mrs Antonia)
We stayed in Leticia's beautiful home with our adult children and siblings. Casa Quixote is ideally situated a reasonable walk above the Centro, with a peaceful interior courtyard for visiting and a fantastic roof terrace with views of the city and the mountains beyond. The house is comfortable, stylish, and well furnished. Leticia and her team were responsive to questions. A cautionary note, this property would be challenging for anyone with significant mobility issues as it is situated near the top of a hill largely paved with uneven cobblestones. If you are reasonably fit the the walk to and from Centro provides both scenic views and a chance to walk off the amazing food you will no doubt be consuming at every opportunity.
Three friends from high school(class of 1965) and I stayed here for 6 nights and we could not have been more pleased, satisfied and comfortable. It was like staying in a luxury boutique hotel with no other guests. It had all the amenities you could ask for even though we did not use the TV's and cooking facilities. It was close enough to the central city but we never did walk it... getting too old for that. I think it was a great bargain considering how well it was furnished and taken care of. The gardens and balconies were definitely a very special added touch. We were greeted on our first morning at 7:00 with the sound of fire crackers which was a little unsettling at first but as I think about it, it added a very special element to the entire trip. One that I will never forget. I would return to San Miguel and this lovely property in a heart beat......
Casa Quijote is a lovely house located in a secure neighborhood. It is large, it's just a 20-minute walk to the Jardin, and the house features a wonderful roof deck, which offers stunning views of San Miguel de Allende. We stayed for the month of February.
That said, our stay was not satisfactory due to the poor management of its owner, Leticia Rivera. The problems began before we even arrived. Letty speaks perfect English, but she is terrible with basic communication skills, such as answering email. We emailed her three times, wanting to know who would be there to let us in, and if she could pick up a few things for us, which we'd happily pay her for. Frustrated, I finally decided to just call Letty after no response. She then told me that she had received my emails but bizarrely, she had apparently decided not to respond to them. What?
We were told that someone would be waiting for us upon arrival, but no one was. Our taxi driver had to call Letty, who then came filled with apologies to let us into the house and to show us around. This was after a 17.5-hour trip--and a promise that someone would be there to greet us.
The house clearly was not prepped for our arrival as the courtyard and roof deck seating areas were not cleaned or set up for us (cushions on chairs, etc.). This was taken care of once the housekeeper arrived several days later.
We had to wait SIX days before we received a five-gallon tank of drinking water, which it states in the contract we should have had upon arrival. Again, Letty wasn't prepared for us. I have a rude email from Letty that I'd be happy to share with anyone about how it was somehow my fault that we didn't receive the water. Excuse me? Unbelievable.
The house is cold. We were told multiple times NOT to use the fireplaces for more than one hour at a time--this is because it became clear when using them that they are not properly vented and produce not only CO2 but a fairly foul odor.
For a house at this price point, the pots and pans are revolting. I had to buy my own at Mega.
The Internet is extremely weak. Friends staying nearby had superior WiFi, so if this is important to you, beware.
No sealed trash can, which resulted in an animal tearing open our trash and scattering it down the street.
In the end, Casa Quijote, for all its charms, fell way short of expectations due to the glib, punchy Ms. Rivera, and her inability/refusal to makes things right for her paying guests.
We arrived on the 30th of October along with two of our neighbors and we were blown away at the size of the home to begin with. It is nice to have so much space to spread out and not be on top of one another. The decorating is so tasteful and very comfortable. It is like being in your own home. It was very cozy.
It did get chilly the day after we got there and we could not figure out how to light the fireplaces. I email Leticia and she had someone come right over and light them. The problem is that we could never relight them ourselves. I would suggest some electric heaters for those of us who are not handy.
Also I would like to suggest some hand soap for the kitchen and bathrooms and some paper products like toilet paper and paper towels at least until your renter can get to the store.
It is a little bit of a trek into town on the cobblestones but it was good exercise and we just took a cab back since it is up hill all the way, but the view is to die for....so it is worth it.
We would definitely stay here again. It was nice to go to the Jardin and be around all the craziness of the Day of the Dead and then be able to retreat to quiet and calmness on the hill. Wonderful place to experience the Magic of San Miquel de Allende.
NOS ENCANTO LA CASA, ESTA HERMOSA Y TUVIMOS UNA MUY BELLA ESTANCIA AHI...100% RECOMENDABLE
The name and description of this property most definitely does it justice. Casa Quijote was a lovely, spacious, beautifully decorated home with an amazing rooftop terrrace that had an exquisite view of the city sky line. Each bedroom was spacious and had its own en-suite bathroom which made it ideal for our group that was comprised of a group of friends.
The house was very warm and iniviting and had plenty of room for entertaining, whether it be in the living room, spacious dining room or back or roof terrace. Watching the sunset from the rooftop terrace while lounging on a reclining chair, drink in hand was an incredible experience.
The house is a bit of a hike from the center or town, however. It is within walking distance but really only for physically fit, agile people. The street itself (Callejon de Quixote) is extremely steep but cars and cabs could navigate it. With the hilly streets and cobblestone walkways, the walk to Centro is a good 20 minutes. Cabs are not readily available from the street of the house but you can always call for one if you choose not to walk into town. The cost of a cab if you called before hand was usually $50 pesos.
This property is ideal for a group of friends or couples vacationing together that don't want to hear the hustle and bustle of the town but don't mind a good walk to get to the center attractions either.
The owner Letty was extremely helpful and communicative, and saw to every detail of our stay. She included a very helpful booklet prior to our arrival that included suggestions of restaurants, activities and useful phone numbers. Our housekeeper was also extremely lovely and cooked an amazing breakfast for us twice during our stay.
I would highly suggest this property. It was a beautiful home and very reasonably priced. Thank you again Letty for all of your help!
