Both my husband and I are licensed builders and we enjoy working on projects. We own several vacation properties aside from our Saugatuck properties, including a small cottage resort in Ludington, Michigan as well as a vacation property in Traverse City, Michigan. We fell in love with owning vacation cottages and love meeting all of the vacationers that stay at our places. We are adventurous and LOVE to travel! We have been all of the United States (including Hawaii) Multiple islands of the Caribbean, etc.
Angie Machin purchased this cottage in 2013
We happened upon Willow Tree Cottages, a small cottage resort. The location is A++!!!! We are in the middle of the action in all aspects! From Willow Tree Cottage you can walk to the beach, Downtown Douglas, Downtown Saugatuck, restaurants, the main grocery store, the chain ferry, etc. Lafontsee Galleries across the street. Kirby Wine Bar one block away. Cute little beach shop (bike rentals/Beach rentals) across the street. . Everything is convenient about our location!
You will fall in love with the 'quaintness' of Willow Tree Cottages! The 3 cottages are in a great setting, a nice big yard to play yard games, relax and read or grill out and have fun!
We have just returned from spending an AMAZING week at the cottages. We came for a family reunion (TX, IA, IL, MI, MN) with 5 small children and 10 adults. They were plenty of bed/bathrooms for all of us. We cooked/shared our meals outside every night and "relived" our adventures around the firepit. The spacious yard kept the kids entertained. We walked to Douglas almost every day, and Saugatuk a couple of times also. Douglas Beach, Oval Beach and Baldhead Mountain are just down the road. One dreary morning we picked blueberries.
Angie is great at communicating all of the details for the stay and was always available to answer questions. We were surprised at the cleanliness and the well stocked kitchen. Plenty of towels for the bathrooms.
We hope to make this a yearly adventure for our group!
Our group of 19 stayed at the cottages for a week long summer vacation. These cottages are beautifully finished and decorated. We couldn't believe how incredibly CLEAN it was. We cooked breakfast and dinner everyday and had everything we needed in the kitchen. Plenty of bath towels and even some beach towels were available. Having a washer and dryer available was especially helpful. Plenty of firewood for fires at night but don't forget to bring the bug spray! Spent our days at beautiful Oval Beach and watched the sunset at Douglas Beach which is less than a miles walk. Great location, so close to many attractions. Would definitely book this property again.
This place was perfect for our 19 member family reunion. Many activities within walking distance. Room for the kids to play outside. The houses were neat and clean. Really enjoyed getting to know the area.
My family stayed in all three cabins for four nights. Each of the cabins were very clean and well maintained. We would book again if we ever went back to the area.
The cottages were a dream for our family of 3 adult couples, one adult single and a child. We enjoyed the walk to the lake, a walk to Douglas and a short drive to Saugatuk. Angie was so easy to reach, but we needed nothing! There is a close by grocery store that handled most of our needs.
My family and my friends loved the cottage.
You can plan on walking distance to everything that you may be interested in or needing. Many of our guests enjoy the bike rental shop directly across the street!
