About Leslie Barroso

We raised our 2 kids in this home and have now relocated for work. We have loved our home and our community on Mount Desert Island and are excited to share our serene Bar Harbor oasis, far from the cruise ship crowds, hotel and B & B traffic but still in close proximity to all the action the island provides.

Leslie Barroso purchased this house in 1995

Why Leslie Barroso chose Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island

Heartwood Home was designed, built and furnished by us to hold our family close. The great room allows the cook to be with family members and guests while they're watching TV, doing puzzles and games at the large dining table or listening to music. The surrounding neighborhood is conducive to walks on a low traffic road, safe for children and pets. There are bike riding and hiking areas for the whole family, and lots of play space for children.

What makes this house unique

The unique benefits of staying at Heartwood Home are total comfort without the summer crowds of an in-town location. We are located in the center of Mount Desert Island giving occupants the convenience of an easy commute to all the towns, restaurants and sites on the island.

BEAUTIFUL, QUIET VACATION HEADQUARTER!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to stay near Bar Harbor but not in the noisy/crowded area. I found Heartwood Home at our favvy 'find a vacation home' website which is VRBO. HH (as I refer to Heartwood Home) was within 15 minutes of just about every place you want to visit. The house itself is full of everything one would need for a staycation (we dined out almost all meals, but it was nice to know we could've prepared a wonderful meal in their kitchen).

The touches and variety of art work were awesome! There are any DVDs, CDs, games, that you can vacation there, get snowed in, and stay busy the whole time!

The owner is always available if needed.

Lovely place to make your base for a vacation in Bar Harbor/Acadia!

Great House, Great Location.

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay for a week long trip to Maine. Very comfortable for our extended family of 3 adults and 6 teenagers. The location was great; Easy to find, very close to entrances to the park, and downtown Bar Harbor. Well stocked kitchen and a great fire pit nestled in the wooded yard provided plenty of room for large family dinners. We would definitely stay here again!

Great House! Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful stay. We enjoyed the fire pit in the wooded lot next to the house. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans, appliances and dinnerware. My husband and grown kids and a grandchild all enjoyed the house which is close to the park entrance, Eagle Lake, Bar Harbor and the playground in Town Hill.

Very comfortable home close to park and town

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Heartwood Home in Bar Harbor. It is a great house that feels like a home. We loved the great room with open kitchen, big dining room table, and living room. The large windows made us feel like we were still in the middle of nature after coming in from all of our hikes and swims. Highlights for us included the technology (wifi, cable, Netflix) and the comfortable beds. We loved how centrally located the house was for park activities and going into town. Plenty of movies and board games on hand. The entire family enjoyed the stay!

Bucket List Trip

  • 5 of 5

Visiting Bar Harob and Acadia was on my bucket list and this trip did not dissappoint. Heartwood was a beautiful place to stay and I hope to re-visit. It was large, clean, lovely grounds and a fire pit close to the house. The house was also in a short distance to Bar Harbor/Acadia, all the wonderful sea ports, and close to groceries as well. We were able to connect as a family again in this wonderful home and environment. Beats Florida big time!!!!!!! If you have a chance stay her and get in touch with nature again.

new to maine

The listing description was accurate and the pictures were helpful. The owner was happy to answer all of our many questions with prompt return calls. The property was fine. As pictured, it is in the woods, which we liked. But because it is in the woods it is not a neat, manicured property however it was maintained. The house was stocked with many helpful items. The house was spacious and well stocked with plenty of books, and some family games. The owner recommended many activities in a booklet. We visited most of them and were very pleased. Daily we drove to Bar Harbor, which took 15 minutes. An appliance stopped working while we were there and the owners remedied the problem immediately. They care to make your visit smooth and enjoyable. The tv was very difficult to operate even though there was a detailed explanation of all the remotes.
