A perfect option for the couple looking for a small sized home and priced accordingly. Punta el Corral was built as our guesthouse back in 2000. Then we had plans to build a large main house, but couldn't afford to build it at the same time. Over the years, we realized it was just the perfect size for the two of us, and it was the only home around that offered that unique feature. So, in 2013, for the first time we are putting our private casa onto the rental market and looking to fill the niche of a small, but perfectly appointed home.
Our master bedroom has a comfortable, hotel quality king bed. It has one bathroom off the master bedroom that has a two sink vanity, regular toilet (no bidet), and a wonderful oversize shower head for a shower that looks out onto the beach!
Air conditioning is provided, as well as a large ceiling fan if you prefer. There are built-in floor to ceiling storage closets surrounding the master bedroom (which is round in design). The front door access is self-locking for security as well as the wooden pocket doors that lead to a private deck overlooking the beautiful garden. All linens are included - even beach towels. Linens are changed and general cleaning is provided every other day.
There is a built-in desk behind the bed and provides a place to work or write. There is also a direct land line telephone to make free local calls as well as a current copy of La Conexion, the Troncones Directory published by the Homeowners Association (APCAT) of which we are members. Wireless Internet access is included in the rental price and additional information is provided in the House Manual to assist in utilizing this service.
Next, you will take a set of steps outside the front door leading up to the kitchen and living area. Be prepared for a breathtaking view of the entire beach and a birds-eye view of everything happening around you. Sunsets are incredibly beautiful and personal. Our kitchen is equipped with all the items a gourmet chef would desire. A coffeepot and gourmet coffee will be awaiting your arrival. As of November 2016----there is finally an ATM!!! There are a few more tiendas with grocery items located on Troncones Beach (including a liquor store), and vegetables and fruits are peddled twice a week (sometimes daily) by a local purveyor who drives his truck the full length of the beach, and there is even fresh fish sold by villagers from nearby Majahua on this same beach road.
There is a dining table with seating for 5, as well as a sofa that has a single (twin size) cushion suitable for accommodating one additional guest. There are air-chairs and plenty of seating for hosting sunset margaritas--or just enjoy it by yourself!
The property is plentiful (it consists of two lots) and you are welcome to enjoy the gardens and to use the outdoor barbeque pit. There is an outside shower for rinsing off after swimming in the ocean. We have a selection of boogie boards, snorkeling gear and swim socks available for your use. We also have reading material and several board games. There is a Bluetooth portable speaker available for use.
If you arrive by car, there is plenty of free parking available on the property. The main stretch of beach is over two miles long so it can be quite a hike back and forth to the village. There are locals available to transport you up and down the beach, as well as various taxis at reasonable prices for local transportation.
Punta el Corral is located on the point, or the northern part of Troncones Beach. We are actually located on a stretch of the beach that is on a sub-road that comes off of the main road. Currently, our portion of the roads are dirt. There is a plan to pave our section of the road--but it always seems to be mañana. Nonetheless, we are only 1000 feet from the entrance of The Inn on Manzanilla Bay--a wonderful B and B with excellent bar and restaurant offering live music once a week and a full bar with their own Big Boy blue agave tequila. Further down the beach on Manzanilla Bay you will find more restaurants--including Hacienda Eden. Excellent food and perfect accommodations for any friends looking to visit during your stay.
We have been coming to Troncones since 1992 and fell in love with it immediately. It is not a resort-like experience, but rather a special kind of place for people who love the joy and simplicity of a small, Mexican beach village with some surprisingly good options for food and drink. We hope staying at Punta el Corral will cement your love for Troncones and find yourself returning again and again!

About Trish Philbrook
I am a retired accountant who would like to spend as much time as possible exploring new and exciting destinations.
Trish Philbrook purchased this House in 1996
Why Trish Philbrook chose Troncones
Troncones spoke to my heart the minute I set foot on the beach. I grew up in Monterey, Calilfornia and always dreamed of owning a house on the beach. My dream was realized when we were able to purchase two lots among the first group of foreign buyers. We teamed up with Enrique Zozaya, a world-renowned architect who built many of the spectacular homes along Troncones Beach over the years, to build Punta el Corral for the 2000 millennium celebration.
What makes this House unique
It is the only property specifically suited for just two people. Most of the properties for rent on Troncones Beach will accommodate 5-10 people, but what if it is just the two of you?? Not as much to choose from. And then there is that 270 degree unobstructed view from the second story living area. I can literally sit upstairs swinging in the air chair for hours watching the flora and fauna--and people watching is rather fun as well!

Punta El Corral was definitely our favorite place on our two week trip. Perfect for 2 people, beautiful surroundings and a great little house with everything you could ever need, even binoculars to look at the ocean and birds! We made friends with the very friendly little brown and black kitty (who we called Chiquita Bonita Cee Cee Bon Bon). Please give her our love if you see her!
Tide pools right outside and the beach just around the corner. There's plenty of restaurants nearby, and an awesome little place at the end of the road that serves cocktails out of an old VW bus with great food.
We had a few hiccups before our trip and Trish was so nice and understanding and did what she could to help out. The property manager Tina was also very great and helpful. We will definitely go back on our next visit to Troncones!
Can't wait to come back
We spent many hours sitting in the comfortable chairs on the balcony of the second floor where the the breezes from the water cooled everything off during the hottest part of the day. If we weren't there, we were drinking margaritas in the never emptying "infinity pool". The waves would crash on a series of rocks several hundred feet out and rush towards the pool continuously keeping the water fresh and cool. If we weren't watching the ever crashing waves, we would watch the pelicans, the sunset, and lots of colorful fish skirting around us. What more could you ask for?
Sounds like the perfect kind of day! I'm glad the chairs were comfortable and the margaritas perfectly refreshing. The rest is up to you and mother nature. We are looking forward to your next visit and hope you will be a repeat lover of Troncones and Punta el Corral. Many thanks for your kind review!
A very special place in a tropical paradise.
Punta el Corral and the village of Troncones are better than we could have dreamed. We had a remarkable time during our 8 days and nights. It was a great base for exploring both Troncones as well as the nearby beaches. Although the house is not right on a sandy beach, the views of the rocks and the birds and the garden are exquisite. It is a very short walk to sandy beaches in either direction. If you walk north you will reach the beach at Manzanillo Bay, with calmer waves and fancy restaurants and lodgings. If you walk south, you can quickly get to flat, sandy beaches that are less rocky and some great waves for body surfing. It was so quiet when we were here that it seemed crowded when there any people on the beaches.
The village is sleepy but wakes up on a regular basis. There are several shops that carry much of what you'll need, including an ATM in one of the stores. One of the highlights was buying fresh fish and produce from the trucks that are in the village. People were always friendly. Bike rentals were useful since Punta el Corral is about a mile from the village but its a really nice walk on the beach also. We had a rental car and did make use of it.
The house has everything you need. Kitchen is fully equipped with a stove and oven, a really fun grill, full sized fridge, many dishes and even coffee and spices. We enjoyed eating at home and sitting on the top of the house looking for whales and watching the seabirds fish. Oh and the hawks and iguanas and lizards and hummingbirds are plentiful. And to our delight, we actually saw whales out at sea frolicking in the waves!! A dream come true.
Warning: there are mosquitos and if you're sensitive to them like me, you will want to protect yourself from them. There is plenty of bug spray in the house, if you're willing. It was a lifesaver for me (or an itch saver).
The bed downstairs is fantastic-a very comfy king sized. The doors open onto the well-kept yard with a gorgeous view of the surf. If you need it, there is an air conditioner that does the job in there. There is a wonderful shower in the bath downstairs. It is secluded and private but the sound of the surf is ever present. and there are many people nearby
There are 25 steps up to the kitchen/living area. Its hard to imagine that outdoor living can be so gentle and fun. But it is.
There is a groundskeeper who comes every day to maintain the grounds and the housekeeper comes every other day to bring fresh linens and clean up.
Oh my, Judi! What a lovely, lovely review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and you seemed to touch on every possible point of interest. I'm sure guests who are new to the area or wondering if this is the right place for them will appreciate everything you had to say. Thank you for being such a wonderful and appreciative guest. We look forward to a repeat visit and will work hard to keep everything as special as you have described. Muchas gracias!

Wonderful location to relax and unplug from the world.
Awesome scenery, comfortable lounging and sleeping areas. Remote enough to feel alone, but close enough to get supplies. Bring sturdy shoes for walking on the rocks and checking the tide pools. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Thanks Jeff & Peggy!
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay in Troncones and Punta el Corral. Please think of us when you make your return visit to Troncones. We love having guests like you who make the best of their time on vacation and truly appreciate the magic of this wonderful beach community!

Great private, beautiful space - near to everything you need, fantastic views...
Loved our stay, spend lots of time in the area and had walked by this house before. always interested in it. Simple, traditional layout upstairs; kitchen, sitting and terrific views for the coast and sunsets. Single bedroom and bath downstairs; all you need if you're with someone you like/love. We were and will be back! Thanks Trish and Tina!
Many thanks to you, Mike & Lavena!
I'm so glad you had a good time and enjoyed your stay. We love having guests like you who love this part of the beach and are looking for some peaceful and private time together---but still are close enough to other establishments to interact when you want. We would love to have you back in the future as often as you wish!
Private oceanfront retreat
My husband and I just spend an absolutely enjoyable and relaxing week at Trish’s Amazing house. The setting could not have been more perfect for anyone seeking a quiet, private and romantic beachfront vacation . The beautiful, comfortable and well designed Home sits on a large and meticulously landscaped lot with gorgeous tropical plants and trees, lovingly cared for by Jesús the gardener. The house itself is well stocked, complete with high quality linens and towels. We spent many tranquil hours on the second floor under the palapa watching the pelicans and whales. A very short walk from the casa is a spectacular swimming beach called Manzanillo bay with beautiful sand, warm gentle waves and no crowds. For evening “entertainment “ there are some nice dining options near by. We particularly liked Jardin del Eden, and for fantastic cocktails Amor Tropicale ( a beautiful outdoors place at the end of the little neighborhood, owned by Rodrigo and Natalie, most wonderful people).
We simply could not have had a better time relaxing by the beach thanks to this fabulous rental. The owner Trish and in town manager Tina are both easy to communicate with and super friendly. We can not wait to return !

Kirsten & Steve:
You are the BEST guests imaginable! Thank you so much for your kind words and fantastic attitudes. Troncones was made for the two of you--people who love the adventure and whose appreciation for the kind spirit of the villagers and the proud determination of everyone to share their love of this tropical paradise. We look forward to many return visits and you are always welcome in our home!
Punta el Corral is located on 'the point' of the 3-mile long stretch of Troncones Beach. It overlooks a challenging surf point where you can observe or participate depending on your abilities. There are wonderful tide pools that can be explored all day, but are especially delightful for floating in while enjoying a sunset cocktail. Bird watching and whale watching are favorite past times. And just around the corner from the tide pools lies Manzanilla Bay--a wonderful and safe beach for swimming or body surfing.
