Guerrero House Rental Photos and Description

1 Br 1 Bath Casita with Total Privacy And Perfect Accommodations

A perfect option for the couple looking for a small sized home and priced accordingly. Punta el Corral was built as our guesthouse back in 2000. Then we had plans to build a large main house, but couldn't afford to build it at the same time. Over the years, we realized it was just the perfect size for the two of us, and it was the only home around that offered that unique feature. So, in 2013, for the first time we are putting our private casa onto the rental market and looking to fill the niche of a small, but perfectly appointed home.

Our master bedroom has a comfortable, hotel quality king bed. It has one bathroom off the master bedroom that has a two sink vanity, regular toilet (no bidet), and a wonderful oversize shower head for a shower that looks out onto the beach!

Air conditioning is provided, as well as a large ceiling fan if you prefer. There are built-in floor to ceiling storage closets surrounding the master bedroom (which is round in design). The front door access is self-locking for security as well as the wooden pocket doors that lead to a private deck overlooking the beautiful garden. All linens are included - even beach towels. Linens are changed and general cleaning is provided every other day.

There is a built-in desk behind the bed and provides a place to work or write. There is also a direct land line telephone to make free local calls as well as a current copy of La Conexion, the Troncones Directory published by the Homeowners Association (APCAT) of which we are members. Wireless Internet access is included in the rental price and additional information is provided in the House Manual to assist in utilizing this service.

Next, you will take a set of steps outside the front door leading up to the kitchen and living area. Be prepared for a breathtaking view of the entire beach and a birds-eye view of everything happening around you. Sunsets are incredibly beautiful and personal. Our kitchen is equipped with all the items a gourmet chef would desire. A coffeepot and gourmet coffee will be awaiting your arrival. While there are no groceries/ATMs located on Troncones Beach, vegetables and fruits are peddled twice a week by a local purveyor, and fresh fish is often sold by villagers from nearby Majahua. There are many tiendas in the village that can provide basic items, and there is a liquor store as well.

There is a dining table with seating for 5, as well as a sofa that has a single (twin size) cushion suitable for accommodating one additional guest. There are air-chairs and plenty of seating for hosting sunset margaritas--or just enjoy it by yourself!

The property is plentiful (it consists of two lots) and you are welcome to enjoy the gardens and to use the outdoor barbeque pit. There is an outside shower for rinsing off after swimming in the ocean. We have a selection of boogie boards, snorkeling gear and swim socks available for your use. We also have reading material and several board games. There is a Bluetooth portable speaker available for use.

If you arrive by car, there is plenty of free parking available on the property. The main stretch of beach is over two miles long so it can be quite a hike back and forth to the village. There are locals available to transport you up and down the beach, as well as various taxis at reasonable prices for local transportation.

Punta el Corral is located on the point, or the northern part of Troncones Beach. We are actually located on a stretch of the beach that is on a sub-road that comes off of the main road. Currently, our portion of the roads are dirt. There is a plan to pave our section of the road--but it always seems to be mañana. Nonetheless, we are only 1000 feet from the entrance of The Inn on Manzanilla Bay--a wonderful B and B with excellent bar and restaurant offering live music once a week and a full bar with their own Big Boy blue agave tequila. Further down the beach on Manzanilla Bay you will find more restaurants--including Hacienda Eden. Excellent food and perfect accommodations for any friends looking to visit during your stay.

We have been coming to Troncones since 1992 and fell in love with it immediately. It is not a resort-like experience, but rather a special kind of place for people who love the joy and simplicity of a small, Mexican beach village with some surprisingly good options for food and drink. We hope staying at Punta el Corral will cement your love for Troncones and find yourself returning again and again!

About Trish Philbrook

I am a retired accountant who would like to spend as much time as possible exploring new and exciting destinations.

Trish Philbrook purchased this house in 1996

Why Trish Philbrook chose Guerrero

Troncones spoke to my heart the minute I set foot on the beach. I grew up in Monterey, Calilfornia and always dreamed of owning a house on the beach. My dream was realized when we were able to purchase two lots among the first group of foreign buyers. We teamed up with Enrique Zozaya, a world-renowned architect who built many of the spectacular homes along Troncones Beach over the years, to build Punta el Corral for the 2000 millennium celebration.

What makes this house unique

It is the only property specifically suited for just two people. Most of the properties for rent on Troncones Beach will accommodate 5-10 people, but what if it is just the two of you?? Not as much to choose from. And then there is that 270 degree unobstructed view from the second story living area. I can literally sit upstairs swinging in the air chair for hours watching the flora and fauna--and people watching is rather fun as well!

Wonderful & Unique Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I wanted to spend a week in Mexico off the beaten track and at the same time close enough to markets, good restaurants, and access to good swimming and snorkeling spots. This house and property was perfect for that kind of vacation. The property was well-maintained with a very nice housekeeper who came every couple of days. In addition, the owner's have a property manager (Tina) who is just 3 minutes away if you run into any trouble or have any questions. The kitchen is well appointed and supports almost anything you want to do. The view from the second story kitchen/dining area is spectacular and romantic. We were there in June when the ocean tends to be rougher which made nearby swimming undesirable. If you are looking for a place where you can walk right out of the door and into the ocean several times a day this would not be the right spot for you. With respect to restaurants, to be honest, we never had a bad meal on this trip! A few minutes away is a restaurant in a resort called Present Moment Retreat that is excellent. Trish, the Owner, was very available and communicative and easy to make travel plans with. Highly Recommend.

Troncones Fans

We only stayed for 4 days and loved every minute of it. The grounds were so beautifully landscaped and private. Everything was taken care of in the house and we absolutely loved the view from upstairs. Because you're so high up you can see above the tree canopy and all the bird watching. Downstairs, from our bedroom we could sit on the deck and watch the hummingbirds and the iguanas (1 was very friendly!) And, we especially loved the morning visit from one of the cats - he made himself at home. We rented bikes at the Inn at Manzanillo Bay and toured around Majahua and Troncones. That was a highlight. Highly recommend this stay and will definitely book again!

While we did not get to stay as long as we had planned (our son became quite ill), our stay was perfect! The house has all the luxuries you could ask for being in a small, beach side village. The views are amazing! We also loved the amount of outdoor space available to us. This was our third stay in Troncones and we would definitely go back to Punta el Corral, although we might leave the kids at home this time! Thank you Trish, for sharing your home with our family (we had our 21 month old son & 5 year old daughter with us) and for taking such great care of us before, during and after our stay.

Beautiful spot

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful spot, well maintained house. Ideal for a couple if you want privacy a beautiful view and sunsets. No direct access to the beach, short but slightly challenging walk to the nearest swimmable beach. The road in Troncones was recently paved all the way to the house (almost) and that is a plus if you drive.

Third time in Troncones and still love the spot.

Nice place to celebrate wedding anniversary

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from a week long trip to Troncones. It was just my husband and myself, so we were looking for a small house. Punta el Corral was the

only 1 bdrm. listing we found.

Troncones is an easy 45 min. drive from Ixtapa-Zihuantanejo airport. We rented a car, stopped by the supermarket and arrived at the rental property in time

to watch the breathtaking sunset from the upper floor veranda.

Our stay was very enjoyable. The house is comfortable and well equipped. Living+dinning+kitchen are located upstairs, the air-conditioned bedroom + bathroom are downstairs. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The cleaning lady came every other day. The Wi-Fi is working well, that was important

to us.

There are several good restaurants in the area. Our favorite was El Toro del Mar in Majahua- five minutes drive from the house. We feasted on fresh seafood every night , for very reasonable prices.

Troncones is not a place for people looking for busy tourist location, night life and shopping malls. However, if you enjoy solitude, uncrowded beaches and

autentic Mexican experience, we recommend Troncones.

Finally, I would like to express our thanks to Trish, the owner, and Tina, the local manager, for being exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

Truly lovely

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time in Troncones, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Punta el Corral. It was quiet and comfortable, and as a bonus, we could sit and watch whales surfacing from the upstairs patio in the morning and watch the sunset over the Pacific in the evening. A true treat. For a couple wanted some down-time in a beautiful and relaxing setting, this is a perfect choice. Beyond that, I'll try to offer some logistical information that may be helpful to others;

First, bring cash. There are no ATMs in Troncones, which is kind of nice, and some of the wonderful little family-run restaurants only take cash. You could potentially use USD, but I think this may be a bit of a hassle for the locals, so pesos is probably best. I recommend using the ATM at the airport. Second, bring a flashlight for evening strolls on the beach, or even along the road (for example, to one of the two nearby restaurants to the north of Punta el Corral).

We did not rent a car and we were happy with that choice. It's a couple of miles to downtown Troncones, but there are options besides walking. The local taxi drivers will give you their cell numbers and they can come pick you up, and it's easy to grab a cab back home from Troncones. The cost is 50 pesos each way, and they definitely appreciate tips. For more local flavor, there is a little van that cruises back and forth (a shared taxi, or "taxi colectivo") and you can wave it down from anywhere along the main road to town. It costs 10 pesos per person. The van is white with colored stripes along the sides, but the timing of its arrival is somewhat random so be prepared to stand around for up to 15 or 20 minutes, unless you get lucky.

The taxi from the airport is simple and fast (about 35 minutes to Punta el Corral) and costs about 950 pesos. The taxi back to the airport can be arranged in a few places in Troncones, and it's a bit cheaper (I think it was around 750 pesos). All very easy and hassle free. But again, you should have cash for this.

I'll avoid recommending restaurants as everyone has different tastes, but I would recommend experimenting. We never had a bad meal, but some places were amazingly good.

And finally, I have to say that the locals were consistently among the friendliest people we've ever met anywhere. We can't wait to return.

Punta el Corral is located on 'the point' of the 3-mile long stretch of Troncones Beach. It overlooks a challenging surf point where you can observe or participate depending on your abilities. There are wonderful tide pools that can be explored all day, but are especially delightful for floating in while enjoying a sunset cocktail. Bird watching and whale watching are favorite past times. And just around the corner from the tide pools lies Manzanilla Bay--a wonderful and safe beach for swimming or body surfing.
