About Tina Snapp and Keri Jones

On site management by Tina and Keri a nurse and veterinarian who moved to the Big Island from Colorado. We fell in love with the island over 18 years ago and finally made moving here a reality in 2012. We love to travel and have taken that knowleged to create accomdations that are comfortable and have all you need to relax and enjoy your stay.

Tina Snapp and Keri Jones purchased this house in 2012

Why Tina Snapp and Keri Jones chose Kona Coast

We wanted to live in a slightly rural area, where we could have some land and raise fruits and vegetables. After many years in the big city, we wanted the slower relaxed pace that the Captain Cook provides.

What makes this house unique

The sunset views from the deck are beautiful. We love to snorkel and the best on the island is a few minutes away.

Beautiful Views, Delicious Breakfast

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay in the Lookout Apartment. The hosts provided us with delicious home-baked muffins and tropical fruit from the garden for breakfast. Great location for snorkeling at Two Step and Captain Cook Monument, with snorkel gear provided by the hosts. Super comfy mattress in the master bedroom. Sofa bed is ok for kids. Frogs can be loud at night, but there's a white noise machine, just in case. The kitchen only has a microwave, but there's an outdoor stove available. Overall, we had a very nice time staying in this well-appointed apartment.

Time-Out & Relax

  • 5 of 5

It was the right choice for us! After travelling from San Francisco to Los Angeles we needed a beach to calm down. The Southkona Hideaway is about 30min far away from airport, 2h from Mauna Kea & 1h40min from Volcano National Part! The beaches for snorkelling are about 15min far away.

+ awesome Papaya-Breakfast & excellent coffee

+ great interior: many Beach-towels, books, DVD's, tourist-information,...

+ Diane was so friendly. She gave us many informations to find the best Beach & for visiting the volcano

- You are sleeping in the middle of the coffee-belt (like a jungle). So it is sometimes clowdy/rainy and at night it is very loud! For us it was perfect, after a hot beach day (at the beach it was always sunny and hot).

Perfect stay!

A Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Besides my hosts being a wealth of information of activities to do close by (and also providing equipment if needed) Tina made me feel like I was just at home with every convenience and provided just what I needed to relax and enjoy my time there. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend this place. I stayed in the unit that is a little smaller than the one below me. I was provided with every convenience. I could tell they themselves have traveled much and afar and took note of all of the wonderful things to include when being the wonderful hosts they are now. From videos to games to equipment to go snorkeling close by, I was not left for want at all. Home grown coffee and a wonderful breakfast included! If you want to experience Aloha, this the place.

very clean, quiet, perfect location, good fruit, muffins large

  • 5 of 5

I'd recommend for everyone except those looking to get away from all people. Host were very gracious, and quiet, but all the units are attached. Normal, but abnormal for alaskans who live on 27 acres at the end of a rd.

Beautiful "lookout" stay on the westside of Big Island!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed on the westside of Big Island for a couple nights at Tina's property, which was beautiful and well maintained. We stayed in the lookout, where we could see a beautiful sunset from our balcony and the ocean. Tina was a super host, made sure we were comfortable, gave us insider tips on things to do in the neighborhood. Captain cook monument, which was a few minutes drive from her property was by far the best snorkel we have experienced in all of Hawaii! We would highly recommend that hike down to the monument for some brilliant snorkeling! We enjoyed fresh fruit from Tina's garden every day. Tina was so kind and allowed us a late checkout the day we were leaving, so we could get one last snorkel before we left the Island. I would highly recommend this stay at Tina's if you are exploring the westside of the Big Island!
