Overview

About the property

Private, King bed with bath and living room/kitchenette.

We have two rental suites (see VRBO listing #507165 for Lanai rental). 'The Lookout' is a beautifully decorated 464 sq ft. suite with a private entry, lanai, living room, kitchenette, and bathroom. Common areas include an outdoor kitchen with small oven/stovetop, and gas grill. We invested in your comfort with a king sleep number bed. The Lookout has a small lanai with stunning views of the sunset and the garden. Setting is a lush acre of flowers, avocados, kona coffee, papayas, bananas, and citrus. We are happy to share our bounty when available. Drive a few minutes to spend the day snorkeling and enjoying the tropical settings of Honaunau or Kealakekua Bay. Private massage in your suite is available with advanced notice (additional charge).

Snorkel equipment is available to borrow. We are owner occupied and happy to advise you regarding activities, restaurants, or other big island sights.

We look forward to meeting you and sharing our slice of paradise.

About Tina Snapp and Keri Jones

On site management by Tina and Keri a nurse and veterinarian who moved to the Big Island from Colorado. We fell in love with the island over 18 years ago and finally made moving here a reality in 2012. We love to travel and have taken that knowleged to create accomdations that are comfortable and have all you need to relax and enjoy your stay.

Tina Snapp and Keri Jones purchased this house in 2012

Why Tina Snapp and Keri Jones chose Captain Cook

We wanted to live in a slightly rural area, where we could have some land and raise fruits and vegetables. After many years in the big city, we wanted the slower relaxed pace that the Captain Cook provides.

What makes this house unique

The sunset views from the deck are beautiful. We love to snorkel and the best on the island is a few minutes away.

Is there a six star?

Amazing view to begin with. Tina is a super host- beyond words. She is so helpful, resourceful and organized it takes any worry or doubt out of your stay or trip... and the homemade muffins and abundance of fresh fruit she entices you to try from her own property just puts it over the top! The hideout is ideal as you are away from the hustle of Kona but close enough to enjoy when you need it. It’s perfect... it really is a little slice of paradise. We are so appreciative and of course we wish we had more time. How the heck do you get on a plane back to reality after this?

Loved it!

  • 4 of 5

Apartment was beautiful with great views of the ocean in the distance. The lanai was good for watching sunsets, stars and one amazing thunder and lightening storm! Up the hill from the Captain Cook Marine Sanctuary, so real close to some great beaches and snorkeling. Apartment was clean, well stocked. Breakfasts were GREAT. A wonderful variety of fresh fruit and muffins or custard to homemade granola.Tina and Keri were super nice and had some good recommendations for local restaurants, coffee shops etc. only drawback was if you are someone who likes to cook their meals there wasn’t a stove or oven in the apartment, but one was available for use on the downstairs deck. I would go back.

The view is AWESOME and that isn't even the best part

  • 5 of 5

The owner lives at the property which made it easy to get help with anything we needed. They also provided fruit from their farm and fresh baking for breakfast (Awesome!). They also have beach gear (chairs, towels, snorkel gear) available for use. The 1 bedroom apartment was super clean. The bed was great. Nice small patio for enjoying morning coffee or evening nightcap. Only thing bad about our stay is that it was to short. Next time we will book earlier and for longer.

Great place, great view, wonderful host

  • 5 of 5

Tina welcomed us in this beautiful place among a beautiful garden of fruit trees.

The two rooms are really spacious. In the kitchen you can find anything you need and Tina provided us fresh fruit and homemade muffins for breakfast.

The apartment was extremely clean. The terrace is looking at the garden and at a beautiful sunset on the sea.

We didn't need it but also equipment for the beach and for snorkeling was provided.

Everything was just perfect and I felt so peaceful like being at home.
