Upon entering this home you are going to want to stay and stay and stay.

With a touch of class and an elegance to the design coupled with an indoor/outdoor flow from every room, you will be showered with a heavenly lull, almost like taking a trip to Bali.

This lovely home reflects my life in design and architecture, passion for plants and landscaping and time spent traveling around the world.

This two bedroom, each with its attached bathroom, has its own mid-sized pool nestled under an oasis of 12 palm trees, just a small part of the 21 palms on the property.

The home is very private, quiet and surrounded by well cultivated lush, tropical landscape.

Wisteria covers the veranda in March and April.

Grapefruit and Orange blossom perfume the air in February and March and a sizable grapevine yields and endless supply of the sweetest seedless champagne grapes from the end of April through June.

The neighbors on each side are wonderful and respectful.

Freshly painted and refurbished, this home boasts sophistication with original artwork on all the walls and oriental rugs on top of the Mexican tiled floors. A spacious outdoor shower leads off the master bedroom and to the pool. The intimate, covered outdoor patio, which leads off one side of the living room and kitchen, has two fans and is surrounded with misters.

The living room, together with gas burning fireplace, looks on to the pool and numerous palm trees as well as the cozy, covered patio. A great surround sound system is yours for the choosing. There is a beautiful dining room leading off the living room. An over-sized original canvas painting on the wall gives the space an intimacy, coziness and sense of style.

The kitchen has excellent connection and separation from the living room and dining room in a functional way providing easy access to all spaces, including the outside dining. The kitchen itself has a chopping block island and is fully equipped with a double oven and a Wolf gas range. All counters and back splashes are granite. Ice maker in the ice box and a double sink. An array of interesting teas and a bottle of wine will be there to greet you.

Each bedroom has a Queen sized bed. These bedrooms have there own bathrooms, with granite counter tops, shower/bathtubs and toilet in each room. T.V.’s are in both bedrooms.

Of course, the house has WiFi, cable and internet.

A hammock is strategically placed at the edge of the pool. Feel free to drop your foot into the pool, while nestling with a book or sipping a glass of wine. An over-sized Buddha under the palms looks on to add the peace and tranquility of the space.

The house is very quiet and private. It is located close to the 10 Freeway and is in close proximity to supermarkets and other general amenities.

The Property Manager will greet you upon your arrival, give you keys and show you the workings of the home, including lighting, t.v. internet connection etc.

This home, Cloud 9, is gem.

This property has an excellent floor plan, with a terrific indoor/outdoor feel . The master bedroom has an outdoor shower which leads onto the pool. The kitchen and it's relationship to the living room and the outdoor dining and sitting space under a covered porch, make it excellent for comfort and entertaining. All of the rooms look toward a mature, colorful tropical garden. The home itself is generally exceptionally quiet and introverted from the street. The home is also very easy to maintain, with numerous seating and enjoyment options. There are 21 mature Washingtonia Palm on the property, giving the feel of being at an oasis.

What makes this house unique

Just six miles from downtown Palm Springs and less than a mile from the I-10 Freeway access.

There are two bicycles in the garage.

The house is completely private with a two car garage.

Thank you for being such an attentive and delightful host. I can understand why your rental receives such positive reviews. Being your guest should bring a smile to anyone's day, and yes, we did thoroughly enjoy staying in your home. The landscaping was probably the best I have ever seen and we loved sipping morning coffee, listening to the birds and planning our day. Evenings again found us relaxing under the tropical vegetation and being serenaded by night creatures. It was quiet private and seemed very far away.

We will certainly recommend a stay at your home to others looking for a lovely Palm Springs getaway.

This is a great property

We stayed at Cloud 9 for a week and it was great. It truly was zen like. The nieghborhood was very quiet. As you sit either inside or outside you can hear doves cooing, it was very peaceful. Because the house has so many sliding doors when everything is open it is truly that indoor outdoor living that is really appealing. The location was really central to the Cochella valley. It was easy to get to just about everything. Luden was a great host and gave us just enough information to make our trip a great one. We really enjoyed this property and would consider returning but maybe in the summer as the pool is not heated so it was very cold. We were only able to get in a couple of times. I think in the summer with the pool warmer this is just the perfect property.

It never heats up to make you feel as if you are taking a hot bath, and when the temps here get to be excessive, I submerge myself at the edge and read a book along the poolside. What a wonderful get away for me! I was warmly welcomed by Lucien and was given a great overview of the area. The house was opened and blended so well with the outdoor space--making it one large living area. My time there was spent relaxing and enjoying the comforts of this home. Every day offered an opportunity to explore and study the many pieces of art work that adorn the space. This is THE spot to unwind--from start to finish an overall wonderful experience.

Truly is a Zen-like retreat!

It's our third time enjoying the delights of this oasis in the desert - we love it! The minute you walk through the enchanting Moroccan doors in the quiet Cathedral City neighbourhood, you feel like you are 'home again'. The warm colours, the furniture, the art all welcome you back. And then you step outside and you don't want to leave the oasis filled with bougainvilla, wisteria and ample mature palm trees that protect you from the outside world. Each morning you are awoken by song birds that continue their serenade throughout the day.

The house is simple and well-laid out for two couples. Once you open the four sliding glass doors the transition to the outdoor space becomes seamless. Like home, there are things that you would like to fix, but nothing that would distract from the enjoyment of your stay. The home is well located, close to shopping, golf courses, Palm Springs and the airport. Minutes from Highway 10 you have access to the entire Cochella Valley. As we are cyclists, we enjoyed some of the best cycling in the Valley right from the front door.

Palm shaded oasis of charm! Delightful!

This was our second stay with friends at "Cloud9". We enjoyed it very much. An unremarkable suburban street & then the surprise... an amazing shaded oasis of calm. There are approximately 16 or more mature palm trees on this standard suburban lot. It is a garden oasis literally, oozing old world charm.

Cosy one level home with a lovely pool (unheated) surrounded by palm trees & delightful works of art both inside & out. Comfortable eating areas again inside & out. Large new sliding glass doors throughout bedrooms, kitchen, living room & casita make it feel wonderfully open. There is a fireplace in the well appointed living room as well, should a cold spell attempt to mar one's vacation. The 2 bedrooms are spacious & comfortable. There is a casita attached, with kitchen & bathroom, which can double as an extra bedroom or as an office for work.

We appreciated the location for easy access to the highway for exploration & hikes as well as shopping for groceries & amenities.

Lucien, the owner, is warm, convivial & very helpful with any questions or concerns.

We would love to come & spend more time in this charm zone! Liz & Tom

Lovely Art-Filled Home

My husband and I just returned from a month's stay here and were thoroughly pleased with the house and the beautiful garden and patio. There are pieces of art and antiques throughout the entire property, some of which the owner, Lucien, brought here via his international travels, and which add a unique ambiance and a feast for the eyes wherever one looks, unlike so many generic-looking vacation rental properties.

Of particular note is the open-to-the-outdoors feel of the main living space: a large comfortably furnished living room and dining area, along with a nicely-sized well-furnished kitchen, all of which opens to the outdoors where there are various seating areas, a lovely small pool (unheated) and interesting nooks and crannies. There are two decent-sized bedrooms with flat screen TVs and comfortable and good mattresses on the beds. The bathrooms are small but functional, with granite counters and plenty of storage space. There is even an attached and spacious casita with its own kitchen and bath.

The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood of Cathedral City, centrally located to all the sights the Coachella Valley has to offer. Lucien was a wonderful host, always available to answer questions, give recommendations, and deal with any issues that might arise. We can't wait to return next year!

Very Bad Experience

As homeowners who rent around the world, we booked Lucien’s property in Palm Springs at T-giving. He met us upon arrival, was nice & gave us a tour. The house looked like the photos & we were happy to be there yet we both noticed an odor when entering the master BR. Lucien introduced us to a painter who was finishing up an external wall directly outside this room so we figured the odor was just outgassing.

We left for food & upon returning both got headaches. This was new to us so we went outside for air. We improved but as soon as we returned inside, the headaches started.

We had no idea the cause (painted wall?) yet when we called Lucien to tell him what was going on & let him know we couldn’t possibly stay there – he denied it could be paint related. It was a quick call as we had to rush to try to find a new rental on Thanksgiving eve.

A few days later we called back & it became immediately clear that Lucien’s pride & emotions were going to take precedence over reasonable business discussions based on statements like “I only rent my house to good people”. No matter how much we tried to see his side, we were met w/ defense.

He said he was only willing to return our cleaning deposit he had from us and would keep all of the weekly rental amount we paid him. We explained that keeping the entire amount for an uninhabitable house didn’t feel fair. He then got agitated & accused us of wanting an “out” & that our symptoms were “merely an excuse because we didn’t want to stay there”. This was not true.

We asked again if he’d be willing to work with us on returning more of our payment. He refused & tried to make us out to be people trying to scam him. At this point we said we’d be left no choice but to contact VRBO or Yelp. He then accused of trying to blackmail him & hung up.

We got the cleaning deposit & an email saying: “I’m not sure you’re aware of the amount of work I put into the house to make staying in it anything but joyful. Not only did I bust my chops preparing it for your visit, but I took off work to welcome your arrival”.

While we appreciate the work he puts into keeping up his property, as former landlords, this doesn’t mean there aren’t ever going to be issues. He still has all of our $ (minus the security deposit) and we were on his property less than 2 hrs.

We hope that any future renters that experience anything wrong with the property don’t go through this. Lucien’s a nice person until he feels you’re tryin

Owner's Response: I think that most people can distinguish between genuine people and those whose lives are filled with unhappiness and malicious complaint. I suspect this complaint had nothing to do with the house, rather the messenger. I take a lot of pride in the leasing of my property through VRBO and make sure I provide the guests with the best possible experience. To date, with over 20+ bookings, , I have had guests return the following season, referred their friends and given me wonderful reviews. I have learned in life that one simply cannot please everyone. Some people have it in their nature to find bad experiences, complain about life, including the way they are treated and that their karma just follows them around. I do take complaints personally in an effort to learn and improve. In reading the travelers very lengthy complaint I have completely failed to find any logic or understanding of what it is all about or what I could have done differently? I cannot identify the source of the complaint? He argues that when he got into the house he and his wife felt ill. His complaint seems to me about how the two of them felt inside the house. Therefore, I have to look at the argument and break it down into two parts. THE INTERIOR. Before any guests arrive, I bring in a cleaning service to make sure the house is in tip top condition. I have used the same service for over 2 years without any complaints. I make sure the linens are clean and that the cutlery and crockery go through the dishwasher. I had the interior of the house painted prior to the 2014/15 season, so, there could not have been "paint complaints" about the Interior of the house. I don't know what I could have done differently to change what they were complaining about "INSIDE" the house? THE EXTERIOR. My house is very directional and all the doors and windows face one direction. I have a Casita which does not lead into the house, nor share the same roof or crawl space. It is not advertised or is part of the leasing of the main house. Prior to the complainant's visit, I had a 20 ft exterior perimeter wall painted with a water based vinyl paint on section that does not facing the house. It is incredulous that if the cause of the complaint was the exterior as to why they would go outside to "feel better" When someone accuses you of something fictitious is really is a sadness that one has to defend oneself. Too bad these guests couldn't enjoy a zen like experience.
