Scott and Mary Alice
We started coming to the Island over 6 years ago and with each visit fell more and more in-love with it.
Scott and Mary Alice purchased this apartment in 2012
Mary Alice had a strong visceral reaction to the Lochside ocean walkway and said ' This is it !!!' So, here we are.
The Lochside beach walkway is one of the longest, private and most beautiful stretches of oceanfront on the Island.
Ever been crabbing? Sidney and Sidney Pier (500 meters away ) is one of the best places to catch large red rock crabs. There are Dungeness crabs too. Just lower your crab trap off the pier, tie it off and come back in a couple of hours. Other than crabbing, the fishing in Sidney is quite decent ... you may be able to catch some good-sized soles right from the pier.
We had a wonderful visit to Sidney and would certainly return. Great views, walking trails, super restaurants and main street. Very relaxing. Also the best bakery ever. Scott and Mary Alice's suite is within walking distance of everything including the bus into Victoria. It is a great suite with everything you need. Very clean, cosy, and well appointed. The patio gives you lots of extra space and the location is 100 feet to the water and walkway along it. Worth returning to in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay in Sidney and we were more than happy with the accommodations. Scott was very helpful and the suite was as described. It was clean and comfortable and located very close to shops, restaurants and a lovely seaside walkway. A 15-20 minute drive in the country had us in downtown Victoria for more shopping and sightseeing. It was a little early in the season to enjoy the back yard but I am sure it would be lovely spot to relax. I would not hesitate to recommend this suite to anyone.
Nice place. Comfy bed. Good light for a downstairs unit. Scott was nice and very quick to respond. Only awkward thing was the kitchen sink - the tap was to long for the sink so it splashed over the edge a lot. Also the towels were a little musty but with in suite laundry it was an easy fix. Would book it again.
We were very happy with the Suite and Scott. Two of us enjoyed the suite for 1 week. It was our second time in the area. We found all the features as described - nice beds/bedrooms, kitchen, washer/dryer, kitchen, living/dining room, backyard-patio, internet, proximity to Sidney, Lochside, a park. The backyard patio has a peek ocean view. Just across the street are walkways with benches for sitting. The ferry to the US is also across the street, and it was interesting to see when it did pull in, and also not very busy this time of the year. We didn't find the airplane noise to be an issue. We saw people with crab traps from the pier - there are cool GoPro movies at Youtube, showing what it looks like from within the traps as the crabs come in. Scott was a very nice host - he met us for check-in and check-out, and we saw him occassionally while coming and going.
I absolutely loved my stay at this wonderful place. There were two of us, separated by 35 years, but we each found just what we required to have a delightful stay in the Sidney area.
The suite had everything one could hope for. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, the bedrooms quiet but with access to fresh cool air, the kitchen was kitted out with everything one could need.
I especially loved the quiet, beautiful back yard and patio area and one day I succumbed willingly to a wee nap there in the sun while my niece went shopping in Sidney.
My next visit to the area will have me seeking out this wonderful home...with fingers crossed.
I was very pleased with my whole experience.
Thank you Scott and Mary.
This was our first trip to Vancouver Island, but it won't be the last. The area is gorgeous with a wonderful climate (12 month growing season because it doesn't freeze) and tons to do. We went whale watching, salmon fishing, toured Buhchart Gardens (with fireworks) and so much more. The suite we rented from Scott and Mary Alice was perfect. It is immaculately maintained (wait till you see your private patio and breathtaking garden). It was worth more than it costs.
We have already re-booked for next year.
Thank you for taking an interest in our picturesque town of Sidney-by-the-Sea. Situated amidst the Gulf Islands with Mount Baker in the distance, you will quickly discover why we are fortunate to live, work and play in this community where you can experience the relaxed atmosphere of a small seaside town and enjoy all the advantages of the big city.
Sidney is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island on the Saanich Peninsula - just a 20 minute drive from downtown Victoria.
