Summerland Lodge Rental Photos and Description

4 Suites To Choose From, Mountain Views, Ski In/out, Nearby Snowshoe Trails

Our large & comfy three bedroom & loft vacation town home offers you the perfect place from which to enjoy all the outdoors of Apex Ski Resort. They say if you can ski Apex Mtn. Resort, you can ski ANYWHERE in the world. Double black diamond runs, blue and green runs for beginners, this hill is for everyone. Enjoy the moonlight nights of snowshoeing into the back country, or just relax by one of four fireplaces that this complex offers.

Pristine fir trees, with views of the ski resort, located in the quieter section of Apex Ski Resort for you to frolic all day and relax to a quieter environment at night. Kick up your feet and lounge on our lovely comfortable leather furniture, or just look out the big picturesque windows and watch the snow fly while playing board games at the air hockey table. Very practical kitchen with a beautiful island and loads of drawers to store your groceries. Settle into one of two hot tubs located on site. This vacation can be yours for two and we have sleeping for 40, if you want to bring along your family and friends.

Apex Ski Village is smaller and more suited for a challenging ski destination, and the quaintness of a smaller Village like what you might find in Europe. We have two perfect places to dine with families and play hard at night, if you like. A 5 minute walk to the Village, located on a ski in/ski out run.

Distinctive Setting includes:

Private hot tub and gorgeous views

Parking for up to 10 cars, yes we have fit a motor home in our lot 1

Sleeps 12 in 3 bedrooms and loft (3 queens, 6 singles)

19 foot ceilings, large dining area

Hot tub

High speed wireless Internet

Large flat screen TV with HD cable and DVD

Full size washer and dryer

Here is what the locals do in the Winter. . .

We wake up to breathtaking snowy mountain peak views. Access just how long it is going to take to eat and get out there for first tracks. We decide the courses. Just a five minute ski to the lifts and take the Strayhorse path home. After a day on the slopes, no one has to talk us into a hot tub to soothe our aching joints (we are getting older and there is always too much snow to shovel). Watching the snow fall with more expressos, and we often slip out for an evening skate on the outdoor skating rink. The braver ones taken in the hockey game at the outside rink. I personally love the Tube Park where you are GUARANTEED to take 10 years off your life, laughing alone, finished with a good book in front of the fireplace, or a hockey game on the television.

What do we do in the Summer ….

With wraparound decks, sip on your expresso or chai latte and soak up the morning sun. There is plenty of fresh air, and trails right out the back of the complex. If you are really quiet you get to take in the owls at night and the birds by day. What is particularly breathtaking is the cobalt blue skys when the sun hits the evergreens. Feels like and looks like heaven.

Explore further and go to the Nickel Plate lakes and take in a fishing day. Travel just a little further and check out the amazing tourist attraction of Hedley Mines and go on a tour. Want the city ?? Just a quick 25 minutes drive down the hill and float the channel in Penticton, take in the hot sun at one of many lakes, and come back home where the air is a little cooler and sleep like a baby !

Golfing – Twin Lakes Golf course is 25 minutes away or take in some high-altitude biking and give your cardio a great workout. Many climb Apex Ski Resort in the summer and have a ride of their lives down.

So come and check us out at Apex Whitetail Chalet -

About Jeannine Cressman

Warren & I moved to Apex Ski Resort 13 years ago to get away from the rat race of the city and raise our children in the great outdoors. Who knew that all the training as a chambermaid who pay off later in life !! We started this business 'on a whim' and 13 years later, we STILL LOVE WHAT WE DO.

What we found were very down to earth people that loved the outdoors here at Apex Ski Resort. We fell in love with serving our clients from families to speciality teams like the Canadian National Olympic Aerial Teams, Canadian Speed Skating National Teams, and more recently, our first weddings, and family reunions !! With sleeping for 42 it gets easier and easier, and I love chatting with the guests before arrival, many of them Warren or I have had the same location in common. We would love to check out Australia yet, maybe when the kids are out of the house, we can take in ski season in our 'off season' !

Jeannine Cressman purchased this lodge in 2002

Why Jeannine Cressman chose Okanagan Valley

As we are going into our 13th year, we saw an opportunity to expand our business and have added the Trophy Buck to our list of units at our lodge this year.

I love the experience of putting up a Christmas tree and decorating the mantle pieces for clients children or grandchildren, and making them feel right at home over the special holiday season. Puts a smile on our faces !!

We offer on-hand, nearby service for you. Many guests have stated 'this is truly a home away from home' and 'we can't believe how big these suites are'. We count it joy when clients become lifelong friends.

What makes this lodge unique

Our uniqueness stems from our on hand personal touches of clearing walkways, moving firewood when needed and sometimes helping clients when keys are lost ! We have four very private suites, large appointed bedrooms, wraparound decks, cathedral ceilings, pine & tiled floors, large comfy leather furnishings, and private hot tubs for the Trophy Buck Suite and Buck Suite. The Buck and Trophy Buck Suites sleep 12 EACH, and are 1900 square feet each; the Fawn and Doe Suites are the largest 9 unit accommodations on Apex Ski Resort, perfect for a few small families to enjoy. Their sizes are 1100 square feet each, with pine ceilings, warm carpets in the bedrooms and tiled floors throughout.

Every suite has their own independent fireplace to snuggle up nearby after a big day on the slopes or in the backcountry. Yes, snowmobilers are very welcome and you can ski, snowboard, snowshoe, and snowmobile right out our back door.

Buck & Doe Suites adjoin to sleep 21 people.

Trophy Buck & Fawn Suites adjoin to sleep 21 people.

Go visit the busy city of Penticton and come back to the quiet of the stillness of the air in the mountains !! A perfect combination !!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family celebrated my mother's 80th birthday at Apex. We had an extraordinary time! The suites are lovely and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. Ours hosts treated us like we were part of the family, making us feel so welcome. We enjoyed cozy evenings sings around the fireplace and soaking in the hot tub outside under the stars. The best part was waking up refreshed because the beds were so comfortable. You could even year the owls chirp at this great location. Apex Whitetail Chalet is everything and more!

Great getaway

  • 4 of 5

Great accommodation, good service from the owners!. Perfect location for skiing, hiking and to get a gataway. However, if the goal of going close to the Okanagan country is to spend time at the lakes or wineries the location is a little far. That's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars.

Owner's Response: Thank you Marco! It was a pleasure having you and your family. Just to clarify for future guests, we are located 25 minutes out of town in the lovely mountain and creekside scenery. Lovely hiking, fishing, quadding, yet close enough to the City of Penticton to run away from the summer heat and sleep in the quietness and stillness of night.

A Perfect Winter Wedding!

  • 5 of 5

"It is just like a fairytale!", said my friend's young daughter when arriving at the lodge. Snow falling outside; the fire place burning inside; friends and family gathered in little clusters enjoying goodies; wine; and lots of laughter.

My husband and I hosted a three day wedding event at the Whitetail Chalet. Our gracious hosts took the time to meet with us months before the event to plan and organize details. They assisted in arranging the space to best suit our needs. We rented the entire space so that we could have the lodge to ourselves. We were able to host a dinner for 40 people in one of the units without feeling overcrowded.

My husband cooked the wedding meal at the lodge. (yes, he is a keeper! It was incredible). We had 4 fully equipped kitchens which made the food preparation easy.

During our stay Warren and Jeannine would discretely manage and care for the facilities ensuring that the hot tubs were serviced, the walks shovelled and the wood pile full. We lacked nothing and our hosts gave us our privacy to enjoy the space. These people serve their guests as a ministry from the heart. Their space deserves to be respected. I would only recommend this location to people who respect boundaries and other people's property. The lodge should be cherished.

The Whitetail Chalet will remain a very special place in our hearts. We plan on keeping our connection with our hosts.
