I am a writer for the LA Times and my husband is an artist for Disney Imagineering. Our family of 4 lives in nearby Pasadena. We bought our first condo in the Sunrise Racquet Club in Palm Springs because we love the desert air and lifestyle.

When the unit in Desert Lanai (next door to Sunrise Racquet Club) became available we jumped on it because we're big Midcentury art and architecture fans.
This private, corner unit tucked away behind a beautiful tree, stays remarkably cool in the summer. It's got great flow for entertaining and plenty of private space for guests.
I totally enjoyed my stay at Desert Lanai 3. The retro styling and old-chic is very well done. This is a well equipped condo with everything you could need. The beds are so comfortable, and there are 3 patios. It is very enjoyable to relax on the rear porch and watch the occasional guest frolic in the pool. The sound console fills the condo with great music if desired. Wi-fi was flawless and fast. Highly recommended.
My husband and I stayed at Lisa and Jacques fabulous place for the month of February and it was great. It's really spacious inside and there are 3 options for sitting outside, either in the shade or sun. The complex is really quiet, has a mix of part timers and full timers and has a nice feel with the full time residents we met at the pool really friendly and helpful. It is close in to everything; we would just shoot up Tachevah in about 5 minutes to get to Uptown and all the great shops and restaurants yet it's really close the airport and freeway access. The only negative was there were no umbrellas at the pool so I couldn't spend long out there with my white NW skin. They have stocked the kitchen with everything the gourmet cook needs and as you can see from the photos the place is newly decorated in a chic Mid Century style and is very comfortable. I especially liked the additional seating area so I could sit there in the mornings and evenings with my coffee or a glass of wine and my book or Ipad.
Our Desert Lanai condo met our expectations. When we arrived the owner was there to welcome us, familiarize us with the features of the unit, and provided us with notes that were helpful throughout our stay. The condo is spacious, well laid out, and tastefully furnished to reflect the mid-century modern traditions that are so much a part of Palm Springs. The newly renovated kitchen is well equipped for cooking. We enjoyed all of our at-home meals on the shaded patio overlooking the central gardens and pool. The location of the property is, for people like us who are happy to be pedestrians, a good walk to downtown Palm Springs with its fabulous restaurants, shops, galleries, and museums. Desert Lanai is just a block away from the historic Movie Colony neighborhood and a short walk to a lovely park. In addition, supermarkets, pharmacies, and other convenience stores are just two blocks away. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it.
Our stay at Desert Lanai was wonderful. The condo is decorated with such flair and care that we were delighted as we turned each corner! The location and views are fantastic. Great indoor and outdoor spaces. Comfy and clean. I would definitely return.
You already know how great Palm Springs is -- sun, relaxation, dining and shopping on Palm Canyon, mid-Century sightseeing, biking and hiking, golf, swimming, phenomenal weather. There's no place like it. And Desert Lanai is the perfect place to experience it.
