My family and I had the most amazing time at this cabin. First of all, the cabin is much larger than we were expecting; more than enough room for 6 adults and 3 kids to share!! The kitchen is large, with ample counter space. The appliances were clean and worked perfectly. More than enough cookware and plates/cups; although we chose to use paper products to avoid washing dishes. The beds were comfortable in the two bedrooms, but the mattresses on the pull out couches were not. There are 3 futons throughout the home as well. The bathroom is large, and stocked with paper supplies. Bath towels and washcloths were provided, but we brought our own. The neighbors are friendly and quiet...perfect for a peaceful get a way.
The beach/back yard...you couldn't ask for a nicer area. The view is amazing...plenty of seating. You can't beat walking out the back door and walking down a few steps to Lake Huron. My daughter found many petosky stones!! The beach is rocky, so make sure you bring your water shoes. The cabin is close to Tawas/East Tawas, and the bike trail is nearby.
The owner accepted our dogs, which was such a plus, as they are part of our family too. It's not easy to find a place that accepts pets!! Plenty of space to walk them.
We will definitely rent again in the future!!!
I would say that for our needs, the home was very roomy and we did have a wonderful vacation. The reason I didn't rate it a 5 is because we all had itching problems and the beds weren't really that comfy. Also, the biting flies were terrible. The family before us had a dog and it smelled of such. We loved all the room, large bathroom, large kitchen, beautiful views and sunrises, dock, boat storage (very helpful during the storm!), wifi, proximity to city and trails. Removing some of the dusty clutter on the walls would help with allergies. For the price, we'd come back again. The owner or renter was very helpful and timely in ensuring our wifi was available for the teens in our group!
Great place. Well stocked with everything for the week, including games, videos, etc. which we appreciated because of the unseasonably cool weather. Beach is beautiful, and neighbors, both visitors and full-time residents are very friendly. My only suggestion is that the cleaning staff pay attention to dusty walls and cobwebs. Will definitely consider a return visit.
Let me first say that the location is great. The kids loved the beach front ,there was plenty of room in the house and the neighbor was very friendly. But this house could use a lot of updating, which I expected from the pictures , and was not a big deal. But it also could use a good cleaning! Whoever is getting paid for cleaning this house needs a pay cut! Cooking utensils were disgusting and need to be updated. Closets were labeled saying there were extra toys and chairs etc, but upon looking in the closets a lot of that stuff wasn't even in there. There were broken beach chairs. We found 7 towels available in a house that is supposed to sleep up to 10. Luckily we brought our own towels. Beds were horribly uncomfortable and had some non- fitting foam toppers to make up for the poor mattresses. We went to use the oven mid week after buying groceries and the oven would not heat up so we had to waste groceries that we bought. I understand that things break and did not expect a 5 star hotel , but I did expect a nice clean house upon arrival and was disappointed in this .
The weather deserves a five-star rating!!! The beach was beautiful and the water was perfect. The cottage needs some major cleaning. We had to wash every dish before we used it. There really isn't adequate drinking glasses or utensils. There wasn't enough charcoal to grill our meals. Last year there was a propane tank grill, which was great! This year we couldn't grill without purchasing our own charcoal. We were left only two garbage bags for the entire week, one roll of paper towel and two rolls of toilet paper. We had three teenage boys and two adults! So, we had to drive into town to purchase our own paper products. :( The pillows in the master bedroom are filthy. When we stripped all the linens at the end of our stay, I discovered the blood stains on one pillow and black mold on the other! No wonder my husband and I were having strange difficulty breathing. This was our second year staying here and we hope some of these things will be addressed so that we can look forward to next year's stay!!
The place was awesome. Plenty of space for the kids, a beautiful lake front and plenty to do. Nice and quiet, neighbors are friendly. Nice lawn chairs and grassy are to sit by the water.
Having toys and things to play with was really nice.
I would go through and put new kitchen utensils throughout. Knives, spatulas, bowls, cutting boards, cookware all needs to be gone through, replaced and updated so we can cook easier. Good broom too.
It would also be nice to be able to use the boat as well.
