Choose from one of the 3 over-sized chairs or the warm caramel-colored leather sofa. Make it even more cozy by lighting a fire in the Carmen Velarde fireplace or turning on some tunes with the Life Style Music System. The living room boasts 15 foot high ceilings with traditional vigas and latillas.
The kitchen with its many cabinets and tons of counter space is a cook's dream come true. It is well-stocked with many small appliances, a dishwasher, a microwave, an electric range, oven as well as a large refrigerator. Sit and snack at the large kitchen island or enjoy a meal, a beverage or time with your book in the dainty breakfast nook just off the kitchen.
The large dining room with its graceful table, seats a party of 10 comfortably, but more can squeeze in easily along the lengthy cushioned bench.
The living room, dining room and kitchen all have gigantic windows with sweeping views of the surrounding fields and mountains.
The 3 main bedrooms are privately located up 6 Saltillo-tiled stairs and share a long hallway.
The sumptuous master bedroom has its own large Mexican-tiled private bathroom with a deep bathtub or if you prefer, an upright shower. Enjoy the master's intimate view of the rock and flower garden. Sleep so well on the king bed which comes made up with fine cotton linens and a down comforter. Afghan treasure chests, a vibophone, African artwork, antique lamps and an Asian-inspired armoire appoint this gorgeous room.
In Queen Room #1, the bed is also clad in cotton linens and a down comforter and the window frames a private view of the back of the house's peaceful garden.
In Queen Room #2, you will find original Taos artwork, an Indian relief, an Afghan hope chest and a darling Asian-inspired tiny chair.
The Queen Rooms share a bathroom which is conveniently located in the hallway between them. This charming bathroom with its large bathtub, Mexican tiles and traditional vigas, is easy to share.
Down the 6 stairs from the 3 main bedrooms is the fun and functional kid's room with two twin beds, a kid-sized table and chairs, plenty of puzzles and games, art supplies, and a TV with satellite.
The crowning jewel of Dos Tusas is the library. With another Carmen Velarde fireplace, thousands of books, a sleeper sofa, a luxurious leather couch, a tapestry-covered reading chair, satellite TV, and a DVD player; the library is everyone's favorite room. Although each room is perfect and comfortable in its own way, the library is exceptionally welcoming and nurturing: a perfect quiet retreat.
When the weather calls you outside, enjoy the song of the wind through the aspen trees on our flagstone patio where there is a table to fit a comfortable 6 or a cozy 9 person dinner. Located in the Los Cordovas section of Taos, Dos Tusas has been tastefully landscaped with poplar trees, lush green grass, latilla fencing and local flowers.
Dos Tusas also comes with a two car garage, a washer and dryer and plenty of closet space. We use environmentally friendly cleaning products.
A ski party's destination, Dos Tusas is a convenient drive up Blueberry Hill Road to Highway 150, only 20 miles to the Ski Valley. A dreamy drive down highway 240 will get you to the center of town in less than 10 minutes; or take 240 the opposite way, to the south side of town, and you're on you're way to Santa Fe.
What truly makes Dos Tusas unique is that it is so large and also so cozy.
