Had to pick up the keys from an adult film shop downstairs as no one was there to meet us as agreed. Customer service was very poor. Loud noise started at midnight until 3 am with loud talking going up and down the stairs. Stove very old and in very poor state. Did not want to use any of the pots even after washing them. Heat on high so it was a sauna. We had to turn the radiators off. Could not sleep on the sofa bed - had to put the cushions in the floor. The photos do not match the reality. This apartment is way overpriced for its current condition. Location was perfect; too bad the reality lets it down. I would not recommend this for anyone as it is too overpriced for the "student/backpacker" set and not up to par for the price range. Fairly clean and bathroom tiny but okay. Uneven stairs difficult to manage.
We enjoyed a very nice stay. Owner and property caretaker very responsive to our needs. The location was great. Only negatives were an uncomfortable bed in the master bedroom and some towels that smelled of mold. I recommend this apartment!
I loved the style of the apartment. Only negative is that the pull out couch is very uncomfortable.
The great location and flair makes up for that though. I'd come back any day
When we arrived the apartment was not ready to move in and the maid, who was really nice, tried in an heroic act to turn this place into a livable space. But is definitely not the maids fault that all of the furniture and all the amenities need desperate maintenance and repair work to be done.
The photos do not really show the real state of the apartment - a lot, and I mean a VERY lot of repairs and maintenance is necessary.
The location is good, bathroom was clean, coffee machine and fridge worked well, but sofas were scabby and not really hygienic. TV worked very well.
It might also be important to mention that the apartment is not accessible for people who have problems with climbing up very steep and narrow stairs to enter the apartment - we come from the alps, so we had not problem with that.
Another point is the heating system. Well, we called it the two climate zone heating - either freezing cold or baking like in a sauna, so that system should be fixed as soon as possible.
All together we would say this place is ideal for backpackers as it is definitely more spacious than a youth hostel. The price, however seems too high. We have stayed already at a lot of places in Manhattan - to our impression the real market price for this apartment should be approx. USD 75,-- per night. Of course after maintenance and renovation and refurbushment the price can be higher.
This apartment was bigger then expected! The property was very clean, well maintained and quiet. The subway was around the corner and easy to get to. The owners were very responsive to our questions. I'd stay here again with no hesitation.
