Beautiful lakefront cottage/home.
Visit Parliament Hill by day, and listen to the loons by night. Forested property on beautiful deep lake with large dock. Fantastic for skating, snowshoeing, swimming, or boating depending on the time of year. Great freshwater fishing for everything from bass to lake trout. 3 ski hills and zipline within 35 minute drive. Comforts of home, wifi, large screen to watch movies beside wood-burning fireplace. Watch the birds. Great views. 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa. Read our reviews for more.
Peace and quiet, a beautiful natural setting, and privacy attracted us to this property. Now, we love the proximity of our 'cottage getaway' to Ottawa. It allows us to pop up for an evening or a weekend, and still be close enough to Ottawa to 'run back in' for children's soccer or appointments. We plan to move here permanently in a few years, once our children finish high school in Ottawa.
The focus of the property is the water. We have a fantastic waterfront on a beautiful, large lake. The water is 40 feet deep off the end of dock, and 120 feet deep in the nearby bay. Days are filled with fishing, sailing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, while the evenings promise sunsets and campfires, stars watching and board games.
This property is a wonderful retreat on a beautiful lake! Only 1/2 hour away from Ottawa makes this a gem to escape to for the weekend !
The owners have made every effort to make this your home away from home complete with little extras that you might need and a fabulous bottle of red wine!
The use of the kayaks and the canoe were definitely a high light .
Beds were very comfortable , the deck was awesome for candle lit dinners , and the dock was an awesome place to visit and take in the scenery!!
We travelled from Vancouver to join our family out east for Christmas, and decided on this beautifully located and appointed chalet in Gatineau for our reunion. The hosts had left a welcome bottle of wine and lovely card. We were there to ski, but alas the weather didn't cooperate but we ended up with hours of family bonding time over meals, wine and games! The open kitchen, long dining table, and comfy living room made for lots of chats and laughter by the roaring fire. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped ... I like to cook, and I loved that they had Le Creuset and other quality ware. The expresso machine was great, as was the incredibly quiet Miele dishwasher. It was so good, we are thinking of booking again for the summertime!
We had a great stay at this cottage; indeed a beautiful spot! We travel quite a bit and rent condos frequently and found the kitchen to be exceptional for people who especially enjoy cooking- lots of great cookware and dishes! Paul was great at communicating back and forth with additional information and did so in a very timely manner.
Relaxing place, well equipped and the lovely details you left for us were appreciated - thanks for the wine bottle!
Could not be more pleased with our stay at this property. Tucked away on a beautiful lake this property has it all! Beautiful outdoors! We enjoying canoeing, walking, jumping on the large trampoline and for some brave souls who jumped in the lake even though it was October. The house is large and spacious with all the amenities you could ask for. Paul was absolutely fantastic to deal with as well! We truly had a wonderful time and would recommend this property to anyone looking for getaway!
Great place for a large group to spend the weekend. We had to travel more than twelve hours to get to the area.
We had a family gathering in Val des Monts, twenty minutes away from the cottage. We were six adults and three children. It was nice to put the kids in bed early and then we could relax in the beautiful living room in front of the fireplace. Everybody knows how hard it is to travel with young children and to sleep in separate motel rooms. You have to go to bed early , can't watch TV, or have to whisper so you don't wake up the kids... From now on, this is the way I plan my holidays! Thank you Paul and your lovely wife for sharing such a beautiful place with us.
This beautiful lakeside cottage was the ideal setting for us to enjoy quality family time between Christmas and New Year’s this year. Although it is located less than one hour from our home, it felt like we were very far away from it all. The property is very private and the view of the lake from the cottage is beautiful. One thing that really struck me was how peaceful and quiet it was.
The cottage is very modern, spacious and well maintained, and the owners have taken great care to create a warm and inviting environment with all the amenities you need, from a well-equipped kitchen, washer/dryer and cozy bed linens, to helpful instructions and more. Much of our time was spent by the large fireplace on the main floor watching movies, reading and relaxing, playing on the pool table downstairs, bird watching – including a visit from a redheaded woodpecker - and going down to the lake to enjoy the outdoor fire pit and watch people ice-skating on the lake.
It was great dealing with Paul. He was very prompt in responding to queries, provided lots of information and even checked in via email during his own vacation to see how things were going.
All in all a great vacation and highly recommended!
Chances are that once you arrive at this lakefront private oasis on MacGregor Lake, you won't want to leave. Nonetheless, there is plenty to do and see nearby with downtown Ottawa just 30 minutes away with shopping, Parliament Hill Tours and the National Gallery. Or you can travel 30 minutes to check out the ski hills or Spa Nordik or just relax and spend some quality time by yourself, with a friend or with family.
