Estes Valley Vacation Home Operating Permit License #6025

**The rentals for our home are managed by our friends Mark and Sue Werder at Good Neighbor Vacation Rentals LLC (aka AspenHaus Lodge) **

AspenHaus 'Wanderer' is located in the Estes Park community of Aspen Brook with shared access to the Big Thompson River. From our cozy mountain home it's just a short walk into the Rocky Mountain National Park, 1/2 mile to the YMCA of the Rockies, 2 miles to the Beaver Meadows entrance of RMNP and 3.5 miles to the town center. Or simply leave your car at our home and take the FREE Estes Park Summer shuttle from a stop located less than 1/4 mile from AspenHaus Wanderer!!

Our 1,075 sq ft home has a main level vaulted great room which is an ideal gathering space...enjoy the ambiance of the gas log Colorado moss rock fireplace situated in a warm and inviting living room setting complete with an adjoining fully equipped kitchen with granite counter tops and dining room area. Picture windows all around...no artwork needed on these walls!

Step out on the deck to enjoy the sounds of the Big Thompson River, just a stone's throw-away; and sneak a peek of it through the pine trees along with the Continental Divide's Notchtop Mountain... you can take it all in while having your morning coffee, an evening glass of wine or cooking dinner on the grill. And while you are there be sure to say “hey” to our frequent visitors including elk, mule deer and wild turkeys!

The main floor bedroom has a king-sized bed with an adjoining full bath. Also on the main floor and adjacent to the kitchen is a laundry with full washer and dryer.

The second level of AspenHaus Wanderer has two bedrooms (a king bed in one and a combination queen/twin bunk in the other); sharing a full bathroom located off the loft hallway.

As our guest you will enjoy access to shared common fishing, picnic and playground areas along the Big Thompson river... all just a short walk from our cabin.

While you are at it you can take a short woodsy walk along the Big Thompson River and emerge to expansive views of Moraine Park. Visit the museum, catch the shuttle to other RMNP destinations or continue your hike on to Cub Lake where you will have extraordinary opportunities to view herds of elk along the way.

Need we go on... our family thinks that AspenHaus Wanderer is perfect in every way... not just another vacation rental but our perfect mountain home!

Of Note: AspenHaus Wanderer is down the road from AspenHaus Lodge (owned by our friends Mark and Sue Werder who will be facilitating your stay for us). We are all committed to providing you with the same ultimate Rocky Mountain experience you have come to know from AspenHaus!

About The Owner

We are life-long flat-landers (central Indiana) that discovered and fell in love with the Rocky Mountains well over 40 years ago. Our two daughters grew up hiking the trails in Rocky Mountain National Park on family vacations and we are delighted to see our 5 grandchildren now having that same experience with their parents. We are avid hikers (Wanderer!) and we enjoy the Park’s trails in boots or snow shoes. Many of our hikes begin right from the Wanderer’s doorstep and continue deep into the Park from trailheads less than ¼ mile away.

The Owner purchased this house in 1993

Why The Owner chose Estes Park

We bought the cabin over 20 years ago because of the location. As they say “location – location – location”. RMNP is one of our country’s great hiking parks and from the cabin’s front deck you have the Big Thompson River, the YMCA of the Rockies, the National Park trails and the Dunraven Inn all within a short walk...with the Beaver Meadows entrance to the RMNP, the village center of Estes Park and some of our favorite restaurants all within a short drive. We knew immediately that AspenHaus 'Wanderer' was the one for our family!

What makes this house unique

While it’s a beautiful cabin that’s been entirely updated within the past couple of years the most significant benefit in our view is that you can walk directly into the RMNP or access the shuttle bus by foot to avoid summer traffic and delays! Come on up…park your car…and hit the trail. Or grab a good book and settle in on the deck to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Rocky Mountains.

We enjoyed our second stay as much as the first

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time to stay here and we really enjoyed using this house again. The home is really clean and everything was in order. The property manager is very helpful. Great location. Would recommend to a friend or family member.

Very nice vacation home!

  • 4 of 5

Aspen house wanderer is a beautiful home. The rooms were nice sized, the floor plan was perfect for us and we had everything we needed. It was about 80 degrees when we arrived so be aware that it does not have an air conditioner. We learned many homes do not. It did cool off at night and each bedroom has a portable fan. The temperature dropped throughout the week so it was just fine. The cabin is very close to the river but there are houses between you. It was still wonderful to drink coffee on the deck and listen to the wonderful sound of the river! We really enjoyed our vacation! Thank you!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to review AspenHaus Wanderer, much appreciated!! MOST homes in Estes Park do not have AC. This is a mountain Town where most people are out and about during the day; and it cools off beautifully in the evening (i.e. AC is not needed except for a few hours on a handful of days). We do not advertise AC. We also do not advertise being right on the river ("walk to the Big Thompson river" is in our headline). Photo #19 clearly shows the river in the distance; we do not have river frontage. but there are sights and sounds of the Big Thompson from the deck and front windows of this cabin. There is also shared HOA river frontage for fishing and your general enjoyment. Additionally, it is a short walk from AspneHaus into the RMNP... along Glacier Creek and the Big Thompson, there is nothing like it (our opinion)!! Thanks again and best!! Amazing location with a short drive to great spots

  • 4 of 5

Lovely home! Sleeps 4-6 realistically, not more than that. Sue was very helpful in suggesting places to go. The check-in was seamless and this house is beautifully located near Estes Park and the entrance to the Rocky Mountain Park without being in the hustle and bustle! We were hoping to be right on a river as the photo depicted but it was a walk down the street. The only suggestion from elderly parents that came with us was to add a grab bar to downstairs shower. The amenities were clean and modern and well equipped! Definitely would recommend!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review of AspenHaus Wanderer! I am surprised that you said that you saw a photo of the cabin on the river, as we are careful to make sure that our listings are accurate and that there are no surprises! We do not advertise and/or show photos of this cabin right on the Big Thompson. In fact, the only photo of the river is from the deck; and clearly shows it in the distance (ie a short walk down the road to it). Separately, our headline states "walk to the Big Thompson". There is shared HOA river frontage which our guests can enjoy. Regarding the accomodations we allow 7 but only if at least one is a child (who can sleep in the upper bunk or pack n play). There are beds for 6 adults (2 kings and a queen). The limit of 6 adults is also stated in our listing. We agree that the location from the Town and RMNP cannot be beat!! Thanks again and best! This was my families 4th visit to Estes Park and by far our best cabin experience!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was my families 4th visit to Estes Park and by far our best cabin experience!!! My family of 6 (me + wife + 4 kids ages 2-9) thoroughly enjoyed our time at this cabin. The cabin itself had a fantastic layout, great features, fully stocked kitchen, well kept furniture/appliances and was VERY clean...however, the communication and attention to details provided by Sue and Mark were what put this destination over the top. Upon arrival, the welcome/information package provided guidance on the property and easy to understand directions regarding check-in and check-out procedures. Additionally, Sue greeted me with a text and offered any further assistance we may need during our stay. I can't speak highly enough about how much they cared about our experience being a positive one.

The location of the cabin to both the Rocky Mountain National Park and Downtown Estes were exactly what we were looking for on our trip. We were able drive to the RMNP entrance within 5 mintues...drive downtown within 5-10 minutes...and even take a 20 minute hike to Morane Park from a trail-head located near the property. Our experience was wonderful and I highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking to visit Estes Park!

Fantastic Location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with our family of 5 (6, 4, and 10 months). The cabin had everything we needed to enjoy our stay! We were just a short drive to RMNP making it easy to come back to lunch and naps. Sue was a great host and gave us some great ideas where to go. We will definitely be back! Thanks for a great stay!!
