About Dale

Our property was passed down by my parents who always dreamed of having an ocean front home where our family could gather and special memories would be created.

Several years ago, we decided to build a new, open plan home (completed in 2013) on the property and this is the result. It's been fun decorating our home with a few pieces of furniture that have been passed down from one generation to the next.

Enjoy our home and the tranquility of Kapoho!

Dale purchased this house in 1983

Why Dale chose Puna District

If you are looking for a quiet, oceanfront home to relax, this is it! Create your special memories by coming to our home and enjoying what the Big Island has to offer.

Perfect Oceanfront Escape!!

  • 5 of 5

Being able to wake up in the morning and so easily slip into the bay to snorkel and float with the beautiful fish and friendly turtles was so perfect. We were there in November and yet the water was always warm and inviting. Our stay was wonderfully relaxing and fun. The house was so comfortable and well stocked with lots of clean dishes, linens and towels. We felt our every need was met. In addition to enjoying the house and the bay, we took the short drive to the start of the bike path that would allow us to watch the lava enter the ocean. Spectacular viewing! The bike ride was challenging in the dark but well worth it. We had such a great vacation that our family all agreed that we should make this an annual trip! Thank you for sharing your very special home.

Ideal spot in a luxurious home!

  • 5 of 5

This was the ideal Kapoho house, and I'm a local, so I know! It's on a totally private, deep, warm tidepool with a lot of circulation so the water is very clean for the area.

The house has everything you could want including snorkeling gear and floaties. We just had so much fun! We will be back!

Turtle Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We snorkeled with turtles everytime we snorkeled Some days there were 4. The warmer water was delightful, calm and clear. Many vibrantly colored sea creatures. Some of the BEST snorkeling we've ever done.

The house was very clean and well laid out. Very well stocked kitchen and linens. Enjoyed having a garage with all the swimming gear included. We were there over two weeks and really enjoyed our stay.

Our only suggestions would be a window air conditioner in the bedroom, as the evenings got really warm even with the fans on. We spent much time at the waters edge and in the gazebo. The view from the water edge is marvelous! However too many trees block the view from the gazebo. The bay is so pretty, that it's a shame to miss that from the gazebo. Very firm beds, if that's your preference.

We would definitely plan on returning, for even a longer time. Dale and Suzanne were delightful to work with. Mahalo

Serene, beautiful and clean

  • 5 of 5

This was our first VRBO experience and it was fantastic. We stayed in the home August 7 - August 13th. It was also our first trip to The Big Island. The house is beautiful, clean, well maintained and very well appointed. It had everything that we needed tucked away in lush surroundings and a beautiful cove (Note; this is not a touristy area like Kona or Wailoloa). It was the perfect size for our family of four, which includes a 9 year old and a 15 year old. The kids loved snorkeling just outside the back door and I loved my morning coffee on the back deck. We also spent many evenings grilling outside and playing cards listening to the birds and frogs. There are even a few resident turtles in the cove that like to greet you when you are snorkeling, which we all loved. You can even see them early in the morning popping their heads out of the water from the kitchen window. The home is also very near the Kopaho Tide Pools, which we visited a few times, Lava Trees Park and the quaint town of Pahoa, where there is a market and a few restaurants. The owner, Dale, provided fantastic service and responded very fast to emails; from the booking request through the day we left. We have posted many pictures on our Facebook pages and have had many of our friends inquire about the property. When we come back to The Big Island, we will absolutely inquire about renting this home again.

We were visiting Hawaii to celebrate our son's high school graduation and our entire family voted this the BEST vacation ever! Amazing property, we highly recommend it! Dale and Suzanne were both very helpful and friendly, they went above and beyond our expectations to accommodate us. The house was very clean, organized, and had many unexpected extras. There were plenty of towels and even beach towels. The garage had snorkeling gear, boogie boards, blow up floats, swimming noodles, sand toys, and even a small beach umbrella. We were traveling with 4 kids so the washer and dryer with laundry detergent on hand was greatly appreciated too! The house is located in a gated community that was very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We LOVED being able to snorkel right in the backyard, we saw tons of different fish. eels, and the turtles visited us everyday. We were able to visit the Volcano National Park (cost is $20 per car & you can visit as many times as you want for 7 days). We drove down the Chain of Craters Rd and were able to stop to see craters, lava, flows, Thurston Lava Tube, and the amazing Holei Sea Arch. We stayed in the park until dark and were able to see the active volcano lava glowing from the Jagger Museum. We were also able to visit the Panaluu Black Sand Beach and the Papakolea Green Sand Beach. The green sand beach was difficult to get to (3 mile hike each way) but well worth it, it was a breathtaking!
