Welcome to the beautiful Mauna Lani Resort, a tropical oasis amid the dramatic backdrop of virgin black lava fields. This new development is beautifully situated with views of the majestic mountain peaks of Kohala, Mauna Kea and Hualalai. KaMilo is in the midst of a historic lava preserve and walking distance to the beach. A short drive away are the Mauna Lani Shops, a mall complete with fine dining, artisan crafts, a gourmet grocery store, coffee shop and ample designer clothing boutiques.

This stylish house is the perfect place for a family, small group, or couples, traveling together. The organic textures and contemporary décor give the interior of this unit a fresh and relaxing feel. High ceilings and floor treatments are in perfect harmony with the mix of Asian-fusion and deep-sea chic. The open-style kitchen and living area attest to the masterfully designed architecture and ergonomic layout. The living room is spacious and has an entertainment center with a 50 inch flat screen TV. The kitchen is fully equipped with amenities including: Thermador stainless steel appliances, gorgeous granite counter-tops, with plenty of space for food preparation and a breakfast bar. A large Lanai complete with Barbecue and outdoor fridge is adjacent to the living room. Enjoy views of the mountains, a putting green, lush open area.

Also on this level is a spacious dining room with panoramic views. Down the hall you will find a powder room and one of the two master suites. This upstairs master suite has a king-size bed and an elegant bath with shower.

The staircase leads downstairs to an unexpected bonus of a second living area. This living area has a comfortable sofa and a 50 inch TV. The lush landscaping is brought indoors with a wall of windows leading out to a patio where the putting green is only steps away. A second master bedroom suite fit for modern royalty is on this level. It has a comfortable king size bed and a spacious bathroom complete with dual sinks, spa-style bathtub, large walk-in shower and walk-in closet. The bedroom opens to a lanai with lush foliage against striking lava formations. Down the hall is a guest bath and the third bedroom featuring two queen beds and a walk-in closet and sliding doors opening onto a secluded lanai.

All bedrooms have a 24 inch flatscreen TV with cable. In the garage you will find beach chairs, beach umbrellas and boogie boards as well as sand toys for the kids.

The KaMilo complex also has a recreation center with two pools and hot tubs. It sits on 2+ acres and has a workout room with modern equipment. As a guest of this property you can enjoy the beautiful Mauna Lani Beach Club with preferred parking. This private beach is the ideal location for snorkeling, relaxing and enjoying your day. The beach has several covered cabanas for guest use in addition to a large grassy area with shade. You can rent paddle boards, snorkel equipment or schedule a sunset cruise within steps of the beach. Napua restaurant is on site at the Beach Club and offers casual dining and drinks during the day and upscale dining at night- beautiful place for a sunset and a wonderful meal.

KaMilo 224 has potential but needs work

Nice layout, quiet. So-so view over a small neighborhood common area with a little putting green on it.

This unit has not been well maintained. Even though it's fairly new, it was very dirty (tile floors, carpetted areas and base moldings) and has an unpleasant, institutional odor presumably from cleaning materials used by the management company. Lighting on deck is poor and there is inadequate light for the grill (the light above/behind the grill is blocked by the the grill cover when it is open). The stove, oven and microwave are high end brands. You certainly might need a PhD to figure out how to get them to work! Ice maker was not working and some parts below the front of the fridge fell off the first time we opened the freezer. While the management company was responsive by text, they were not able to deal with these issues during our 8-day stay. Despite all of the foregoing, there is no better place to go for a winter vacation than the Big Island!

Owner's Response: Mahalo for your review. As mentioned to you those 3 items were in process under a Home Warranty claim. Unfortunately, things take longer to get accomplished here on the Big Island. I am very sorry about the cleaning situation. You notified me of the cleaning situation on the eve of your arrival and the cleaning company was back out there the following morning to re-mop the floors and wipe the baseboards. As mentioned our vendor was using a new “green” product that obviously is not doing the job. We have instructed them not to use that product on our properties. Thank you for the feedback on the lighting above the BBQ and difficulty you had using the stove. We have not heard that before but will look into having an additional light out there and will do an instructions sheet for the stove. In review of our phone call history and text messages all of your calls and texts were responded to within minutes. Overall – glad you enjoyed your trip.
