Andrew and Jimmie divide their time between Duluth, GA, Augusta, and their hideaway in Dahlonega. They are blessed with 2 beautiful daughters and their families, including 4 grandchildren. Originally purchased as a family getaway, Frog Call has been evolving for over 15 years, with the dream of sharing this peaceful, nurturing place come true, like pieces of a puzzle fitting together.
Jimmie Walters purchased this cabin in 1997
The search for a mountain getaway spanned 2 years. Starting off on a personal tour with the Chapman family owners, by the time they forded West Cane Creek in the old jeep, Jimmie had tears in her eyes, and the search was over. The 50 plus acres of lush forest, meadows, streams, the trails, the end of road privacy and bordered by national forest, all creating peaceful seclusion from the outside world. And located just over one hour from Atlanta, and 6 miles from the Square.
The Cherokee Indians chose the Dahlonega area to settle for good reason. Starting with that wonderful slice of land, and an old caretakers' cottage given new life, the cozy living quarters have cautiously been expanded, allowing nature in, with a minimum of disturbance to the beautiful, natural surroundings, adding the breathtaking treehouse with queen size bed and 30 ft. bridge, and bunkhouse with hand crafted bunk beds. Organic gardens thrive in the meadow, by the pond.
In every instance the right people have shown up, bringing their gifts to take it to the next level of development. Whether it was funds needed, ideas for sharing, treehouse visions, an amazingly talented architect and team, an organic farming family, a nature loving landscape company, an out of work builder, flower garden gifts, or a husband who knew how to build ponds, what has been created is a totally unique, soul reviving escape. Add to that local individuals who can create a personalized experience for you with their talents and knowledge of the area.

It's impossible to choose my favorite thing about Frog Call! The pictures on this site give you an idea of what to expect, but you really need to see it in person to appreciate how awesome it is. The natural beauty and the perfectly appointed home combine to make Frog Call an absolutely amazing getaway. My husband and I brought our two big dogs, and they had an absolute ball exploring the trails and playing in the creek. (There's a water hose and clothesline handy for clean up before letting them back in the house). The house really feels like a home, and it was spotlessly clean. The screened porch that runs the length of the house overlooks the pond, and it is a perfect place to while away the evening watching fireflies and listening to the frogs call! Besides the porch, there is a dining room and living room well set up for intimate conversations and groups of various sizes, with books, games, and puzzles to enjoy. The master bathroom with walk-in shower and large tub is simply to die for. Jimmie was extremely warm and friendly; she made us feel so welcome. She encouraged us to help ourselves to fresh vegetables from the organic garden and I swear those heirloom tomatoes are some of the best I've ever had! We want to come back with our family in the fall to experience the changing colors of the leaves and have a chance to sleep in the bunkhouse or the treehouse!
Thank you, Jimmie for helping us make my daughters wedding perfect. I realized all the extra steps (flowers decorations in the house)you went through to make sure her day was memorable. The whole experience was very stress free. The grounds, waterfalls, the porch, house and its décor made it very relaxing. The tree house was a great escape for the bride and groom. There was plenty of room for others to stay overnight also. My daughter said she wanted to come back to Frog Call each year around her anniversary. An extra thank you to Jimmie for giving us suggestions on were to set up and what had work out in the past (We did not hirer a wedding planner but Jimmie had lot of ideas and plenty of resources that we could call if we wanted something extra). Everyone that came to the wedding was so impressed by Frog Call and its beauty.
My husband and I love this region of the North Georgia Mtns. From the moment we arrived we knew this was gonna be a gorgeous place to stay!! We spent the most relaxing time with family at this magnificent sanctuary . Jimmie went out of her way to extend the utmost Southern Hospitality. Every detail was planned to assure her guest a comfortable stay. The fresh linens and beautiful herbal scents throughout the cabin, the view from our windows looked more serene than I can explain. Riding the golf cart thru the meadow only to find the treehouse and the bunk house like NO OTHER. The trails marked by candles made you feel like you were a kid again. The pond was a emerald green with the biggest trout I've ever seen. We caught a few fish , but carefully released them back to their home so others could enjoy the same fishing experience . My only regret was having to leave this place and return to the real world. I am very grateful that you gave me this experience with my family. My uncle was like a dad to me growing up and always took me to the mountains with his family. He is in his 80's now, so we took lots of pictures and shared lots of old memories together. He hiked the entire property every morning. I will forever treasure this time together. Thank you for sharing this treasure.
Thank you, Jimmie, for the most relaxing vacation we're ever had. Our stay began with splendid Southern hospitality and got better with each passing day. We spent a lot of time down at the pond, hiking the trails and wading in the creeks. A highlight of our day was feeding the fish, they are very active at dusk. We didn't know how we would handle not having television or cell phone service, but in the end that's what made our stay so relaxing. I have to say the screen porch was our favorite place. We sat on the porch one afternoon during a rain storm, it was just awesome. There is a lot to do in and around Daholnega. We will definitely stay at Frog Call again.
My family had a fantastic time at Frog Call and Jimmie couldn't have been a better host. We booked a trip to visit friends and fellow alumni from UNG (or NGC in our day) and it turned into one of the best weekends we have had in years.
The home was fantastic. The heat of summer kept us from using the bunk house and tree house, but did not deter us from exploring all the properties and really getting back to nature. Our weekend centered around the fantastic pond at the end of the meadow. We spend time feeding the fish, canoeing, and a campfire with smores and hot-dogs down by the pond. We even got to swim with the fish when a not so friendly yellow jacket reminded us that enjoying nature means sharing nature, and we got to close. :)
If you are planning a trip to Dahlonega it should include a stay here.
PS - NO CELL PHONE COVERAGE IS WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION ALL DAY LONG. When we left the property and my phone started buzzing again, I started planning my next stay at Frog Call.
Thank you, Jimmie, for a wonderful place to escape!! There were so many different things to do on the property - relax on the swing overlooking the beautiful pond as you listen to the sound of the waterfall (my personal favorite), fish, explore the trails, or wade in the creek! The town of Dahlonega offers many activities as well. We enjoyed the Consolidated Gold Mine tour and panning for gold, hiking to water falls (Amicalola, Desoto, and Helton Creek). We also rented a boat and spent the day on beautiful Lake Lanier! The accommodations felt like we were visiting family, comfortable and inviting! Everyone agreed we should visit again during cooler weather so we can use the treehouse and bunkhouse - absolutely stunning!!!
Frog Call is 10 minutes from picturesque downtown Dahlonega, and 10 minutes from the Appalachian Trail. 5 minutes to the local light aircraft airport, 5 wineries within a 15 minute drive. Amicolola Falls is 30 minutes away. Gold Rush museum downtown, and gold mine tours and panning for gold.
