“Mama said we had to let those rooms out...”

-Forrest Gump

So we’re inviting you to enjoy our cabin as much as we do!

The Treehouse is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin nestled in the trees in the South Toe River Valley of Burnsville, NC just minutes from fresh water fishing, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Mount Mitchell Golf Course. Enjoy some of the best hiking, golfing, and scenery in Western North Carolina. Of course, there’s also a lot to be said for porch sitting, and relaxing at night by a crackling fire. Luckily, we have that too!

Staying at the Treehouse has all the best aspects of staying in a cozy cabin in the woods, with all the conveniences you need to maintain the creature comforts of home. When you step out onto the oversized deck you are surrounded by the natural landscape of beautiful Western North Carolina, with no major roads, noisy neighbors or obstructive views, instantly drawing you into the sights, sounds, and smells (ahhh the smells) of the valley. Pour yourself a beer or glass of wine and grab an adirondack; you are staring at Mt. Mitchell, the tallest peak East of the Misssissippi River. Grill out and dine on the deck, when it cools down, cozy up in front of the stone fire place, and when you’re plum tuckered from too much fun & relaxation, snuggle into some of the comfiest bedding you’ve ever slept in; there’s no night’s sleep like a night sleeping in the Mountains. On a morning or evening walk it’s not uncommon to see deer in the meadow right above the property, and of course, we’re only a hop from the Golf Course, a skip from the beautiful South Toe River (complete with numerous waterfalls), and a jump from the amazing Blue Ridge Parkway!

Asheville is only an hour away with some of the most amazing restaurants, breweries and live music as well as the Biltmore House and the Grove Park Inn.

About James McKeever

Welcome to our Treehouse! We are James & Cameron McKeever. We live full time in Dunedin, Florida, a small coastal city on the West coast of Florida near the Clearwater Beach area. Throughout our travels of the US, we have discovered and hold true to the belief that these are the best two places a person can possibly find! We try to spend as much time at the Treehouse as we can, and it is truly our second home, not just a rental. We only hope you enjoy staying in our home as much as we do!

James McKeever purchased this cabin in 2005

Why James McKeever chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

We found the Treehouse while visiting the area with a friend who also had property in the South Toe River Valley. Out of the five or six properties we looked at, this was the first and only I (Cameron) needed to see. When we walked in, it felt exactly like my Grandfather’s cabin we used to stay in growing up as a kid. We had the greatest memories of that little cabin in the woods, and couldn’t wait to make our own. With James surrendering to the fact that there’s simply no competition for fond memories, we bought it in 2005, and over the past several years not only have we put our blood, sweat, tears and hearts into it (we just call it ‘good mojo’), but we have fallen head over heels in love with the South Toe Valley, and Asheville. Leaving is always a heartbreak.

What makes this cabin unique

House is away from road and private with huge open deck nestled in the trees, and view of Mount Mitchell. Inside amenities include new appliances, new HVAC, new bedding & new fireplace. Open living room with wall of windows brings the outside in. Feels like a cozy cabin in the woods but with all the modern conveniences.

The entire place was cozy and inviting. It was easy to make ourselves at home. The community, the scenery and the over all experience was just what we had hoped for.

A truly relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

For our small family of 4 (and fur baby) this place was absolutely perfect. The view is breathtaking. You will not be disappointed. I could not stop looking out of the wall of windows to Mt. Mitchell. Nature is truly magical. Ideal location to trails and waterfalls. Mt. Mitchell state Park is just a short drive away. The park itself is a wonder. We had an absolute perfect vacation. We plan on coming back soon. And now are dreaming of moving to the mountains. We were sad to leave.

A little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed in several places in different parts of the NC mountains that we've loved over the years, but the Tree House and the surrounding area are far and away our favorite. It's the only place we've made a return trip to. The Tree House has everything you need to make you feel like you're home, away from home and the view can't be beat. James and Cameron are absolutely top-notch hosts. You really can't go wrong choosing to stay here.

Great time at the Tree House

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Tree House was just perfect. The location is wonderful and the house lovely. We are big hikers and there is an abundance of nearby hikes, including waterfalls. Sometimes that was a conflict because we wanted to stay put and enjoy the gorgeous views and comfort of the cabin. We also enjoyed exploring and eating in Burnsville.

Excellent and relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

If you like nature and get away from buzy and routine life of the city, the treehouse is the best place for it. My wife and I had a great time and would do it again next year with no doubt.
