A classic 1961 Alexander home designed by Charles Dubois, this house is mostly original, except for the kitchen which underwent a sleek update a while back. While 1800 sf may be on the smaller side for this neighborhood, this house is big on charm and one of the best priced options you will find. The history of Vista Las Palmas is star-studded with celebrity homes, and is a Mecca for lovers of modernist architecture from all over the world. It's just a 10 or 15 minute walk to Palm Canyon Drive and Palm Springs' best and hippest restaurants and shopping.
Many vintage furnishings by George Nelson, Irving Harper, the Eameses etc. in the home set the mood for modern living. The living area is light-filled and 3 sets of sliders invite you out to the pool, which is in the south-facing backyard looking out to the mountains. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need.
The master bedroom is spacious, with a king-sized bed, TV and an en suite bath which boasts a roman tub with a window wall to the magnificent morning view.
This house is updated with many modern conveniences like Wi-Fi, but it is not tricked out. Modernists will love the vintage character of this home.
Please tell me something about you and your party when you request your reservation to make sure this is a good fit.
Also, let me know if you want the pool heated for your stay and I will make sure the quote reflects that.
Thanks for looking!
Modernist and Desert Lover!
I welcome you to discover the joys of desert living and appreciate the legacy the Modernists left for us here is PS - especially the homes of Vista Las Palmas.
Hank purchased this house in 1999
This was our second stay at the property and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The house has everything you need and more. Hank upgraded the BBQ since last time, very nice, and added Apple TV, very cool. The pool was great and we took full advantage. Amazing neighbourhood gives you a sense of privacy and affordable luxury. Needless to say, we'll be back :)
I've stayed in this home before almost a year ago and was so excited that it was available for a second stay. The house has a beautiful open floor plan that makes it feel light and airy - perfect for relaxation. It's in an extremely stylist neighborhood that makes for great evening bike rides to check out the architecture. The kitchen is equipped with everything you'd need to stay in and cook all your meals (like we usually do). I can tell that in the next few years it will need some extra TLC with new paint and small repairs but both times I've stayed it was spotlessly clean upon arrival. I've stayed at a few different homes now in Palm Springs but this remains my favorite and I can't wait to come back for a third time!
If you're just 2 people (or even 4) and love the idea of staying in a house in Palm Springs (rather than a hotel) then you can't go past this property.
Hank is easy to deal with, quick to respond, and his house is located in the most picturesque part of Palm Springs, the prestigious Vista Las Palmas. It's so close to the mountains you can almost touch them while sitting in the pool! Do yourself and favour and use the 2 bikes provided to take a cycle around the neighborhood.
If you love midcentury, then this place is super stylish both inside and out, and the photo opportunities are endless.
From towels to kitchen appliances and condiments, everything you need is right there to feel completely at home in an enviable setting.
We had such an amazing time at this house. The house and the property are both beautiful.
Loved this mid-century modern home! The house was extremely clean. It was also spacious and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend - the kitchen had everything and more in terms of utensils, cookware and appliances which was awesome. The pool is fantastic and lights up beautifully with the trees in the yard at night. The house is located in a beautiful and very quiet neighborhood and you could walk downtown. Hank (owner) was highly responsive when we needed something so you can feel confident that you'll be taken care of! Would definitely stay here again.
I have rented properties for extended stays in Palm Springs a number of times, and this is far and away the best I've experienced. Both the architecture and carefully appointed interior offered an excellent glimpse into the mid-century ambiance that Palm Springs has become known for. The owner could not have been more accommodating or responsive to requests. The location is perfect. Overall an excellent stay.
