Charming stand-alone studio in a very private, peaceful and secluded location. Just three miles from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and six miles from the Volcano Golf Course and Volcano Winery, you can enjoy the native birds who seranade you amongst the fern forest. Our studio provides you with a Queen-sized bed, loft, kitchenette, bathroom/shower, skylights and radiant heating. There is a picnic table in the carport and private covered parking. Just 30 minutes from Hilo, you can enjoy the beaches and waterfalls and all Hilo town has to offer and then get away to the serenity of Volcano and spend your nights in the cooler temperatures and see the glow of the Volcano. From Kona, it's about a two-hour drive, but very pretty and lots to see in between. About 30 minutes South of Volcano, is the beautiful black sand Punaluu Beach. Volcano Village, only 2 miles away, has a number of restaurants (menus at the house), a post office, convenience store, and a few other little stores. This Village is also known for it's artist studios sprinkled all throughout town. On Sunday mornings, there is a farmer's market in the village.
Pele's Tiki Hale was personally designed and built by the Owner's Mike and Joy Gillette. Mike's craftsmanship and special detail to the local Ohia trees is what creates the charm to our studio.
Joy Gillette purchased this studio in 2006
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. We loved the convenience of being close to Volcano National Park. It was easy to go for a hike during the day, come back for a nap. and then go back for dinner at Volcano House and view the lava at night. The place had everything we needed including an assortment of spices in the kitchen and shampoos and soaps in the bathroom. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you for a lovely stay. We hope to come back!
I really loved stayed here. Comfortable and well-equipped. The loft was really neat. Great distance from Volcano National Park also. Perfect place if you're looking to explore the park, probably not the best if you need to work remotely or sit inside all day since the wifi can be a little spotty (didn't matter to me, though).
Very quiet place only 10 mins away from Volcano NP.
My wife and I had 3 nights on the westside of the island and because we wanted to visit Volcano NP and our flight to Kauai went from Hilo, we thought it would be much easier to stay in a place on the east side, so we booked this cozy cabin.
Everything was fine and very clean, would definitely recommend to others.
This studio is very clean, roomy and has a beautiful yard.
Location of the cabin is great. And the place is very clean.
Only thing is smoke alarm ran out of battery while we were sleeping. There was no 9V spare battery in the property, and we texted Joy. Found that she lived in Hilo and is 45 min away. So we have to find the circuit box to turn off the smoke alarm.
other than that, every thing is great
Perfect last minute 2 night staycation accommodation for home base to enjoy: Volcano National Park and 10 mile trek to flowing lava; a sunrise boat tour of flowing lava with Captain Shane of Lava Ocean Tours; and Volcano Village's Ohelo Cafe for delicious dinner, drinks and dessert and Lava Rock Cafe's fluffy pancakes with lilikoi butter for breakfast. Joy's accommodation was clean, well appointed (cooktop and dining at covered outdoor lanai), and had comfortable and clean bedding and towels. Easy to book and communicate with Joy. We hope to make it back again in the future.
