Stayed a week in this condo. Great location, but as others have said, unit is in need of renovation. On arrival the dishwasher was full of dirty water - obviously not checked by cleaning staff. SunQuest was responsive to the issue, sending a technician, who indicated the unit needed replacement. This was done promptly. There is one irritant, that seems to be a policy of SunQuest. They provide only a "starter" supply of essentials such as paper towels, bathroom tissue, dishwasher detergent, etc. One quickly has to purchase additional supplies. No shampoo or conditioner provided - only small guest size soap in bathrooms. Perhaps experience shows these type of items are taken by departing guests. Even so it's a nuisance.
The beds were comfortable, and the internet was good. The common facilities of the condo were fine (pool, grounds, parking, internet, tennis court & BBQ).
Good snorkelling at the beach across the road, and at others within driving distance. A good base for exploring the West side of Big Island.
Overall the value was OK, but we would probably pick an alternative
Accommodations were fine, well equipped but somewhat dated and a tad run down - kitchen cupboards worn, rusted sinks in bathrooms. Think 1960's, probably when the place was built, colored bathroom fixtures date the condo. Didn't use the beach but the pool was very nice, met a lot of interesting people there and got a ton of information on places to see and eat. I would use White Sands Village again if I came back to Hawaii, only downside is that it is too far to walk to Kona, we preferred Lahaina on Maui as we could walk everywhere, a car was only needed for sightseeing out of town.
It was ok. Location was good, beach across the street. It needs updating. The rust around the sink and shower caddy was a turn off, the oven door didn't completely close. It had a (loud) washer/dryer, that was a plus. Towels had holes. Overall, it was just average-
Great location, no ocean view but beach across the street. Unit is a bit dated, but clean. White shag carpet. In Hawaii.
I would highly recommend this rental unit to anyone. The unit was very clean and nicely furnished. It was close to a great beach where we snorkeled and saw many beautiful fish. We also grilled out several nights by the pool, which has an amazing view of the ocean. The tennis courts are also a nice touch.
Could not have asked for a better place to stay in Kona. This place is in walking distance from shops, markets, etc., and the beach is right across the street. The rooms and spacious and have all of the amenities you need! Can't wait to stay again!
