Great Spanish retreat for writers and painters

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a great holiday in your Spanish house; it is just the place to wipe away the winter blues and feel restored again.

The house is clean and the beds comfortable . The house is set in the heart of a truly delightful mountain village with all the charm of a traditional Spanish community. The house is set in one of the quaint ,narrow lanes on the slopes of the hills with views to the rose coloured distant mountains of the Sierras.

The wood burner heats up in no time warming the upstairs as well as downstairs.

The terrace, with its wonderful views of the Sierra Ronda , is a great place to sunbathe. For those with more energy, one can explore ancient hill towns and centres of cultural interest in the surrounding National Park; there is good walking in the village itself. There is a variety of local bars, ( I particularly liked Bar Marilyn) and restaurants, historic castles and archaeological sites.

A great place for a quiet retreat away from the buzz of beaches and crowds of tourists.

I hope to return one day and explore further . Glad to recommend this homely, traditional cottage set in a delightful village. Chris Brown.

A perfect Holiday in Casa Lucilla

  • 5 of 5

'We Had a wonderful stay in Casa Lucilla which is very cozy and comfortable , set in a private and tranquil area.

Both the Spanish and English neighbours were very friendly and helpful and we were made to feel most welcomed.

'Jimena' with its historic castle is an interesting and vibrant village which offers all you could wish for in the way of shops and supermarkets, tapas bars and restaurants. We particularly liked our evening meals in Restaurante El Ventorrillero

We were never bored for there is so much to do and sights to see all within walking or driving distance .

Our visit to The Spanish riding school in Jerez was a very special day out but all in all there are so many choices of places to visit it is impossible to fit it all in one holiday .

The themed paintings on the walls give this individual house a truly Spanish feel and your terrace is the perfect place to relax after the day is over with a drink in hand to watch the sun go down over the mountains.

Thank you for a perfect holiday-we will return' and recommend casa Lucilla to our friends.

An ideal and authentic Spanish retreat

  • 4 of 5

'Jimena is a beautiful and interesting frontier town with panoramic views of the Andalucian countryside.

Casa Lucilla provides an ideal and authentic Spanish retreat perfect for a quiet holiday with its two-tiered terraces overlooking the hills. Walks in the local area are spectacular and the town has a friendly, village feel. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and felt very well rested.'

A Great Stay in Casa Lucilla

  • 5 of 5

We cannot thank you enough for this opportunity to share the comfort and atmosphere of your clean and tidy home.

We enjoyed the notion that we were experiencing a traditional Andalusian lifestyle - meals on the terrace, picnics in the forest, flamenco and tapas at the nearby Bar Perez, plus delicious meals at various local restaurants, Bar Marilyn being our favourite. We also enjoyed evenings in warmed by the woodstove, your most agreeably evocative paintings - all enhanced by cleanliness and comfortable beds.

I shall never forget the Roman ruins at Bolonia and coastal walks by "the silver plated sea", nor the sheer pleasure of the train journey through that unique Andalusian landscape to the historic town of Ronda.

Thanks again, Lucilla - we shall certainly return to your Iberian retreat, and will be happy to recommend it to others.

Casa Lucilla is situated in a quiet street at the edge of Jimena. The white village is the perfect setting for nature lovers and for those who prefer the charm of rural Spain to the buzz of the coasts. The village is full of tapas bars and traditions like the annual summer feria, processions, music and flamenco festivals. It has a beautiful river valley with free roaming goats, horses, mules and you even see turtles in the river. Jimena is half an hour from the Mediterranean beaches and 1 hour from the Atlantic like the surfers paradise Tarifa. A beautiful train journey links the town to Ronda (1 hour) and Granada.
