About Sue Molloy

My fiance, Derek, and I live in the main house in front of the cottage, so we are close by and ready to help if any of our guests have questions or need assistance. We are both avid cyclists, I am also a runner. We both love the outdoors and we love to travel, especially to Europe! Derek is from S. Africa and I am from Chicago. We actually met on bicycles.

Sue Molloy purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Sue Molloy chose Old Northwood

South Florida is a great place to be, especially if you are escaping the cold north! Our cottage has everything a traveler could need. Not only is it cute, but it is always neat and clean. It is very private as well. The entrance to the cottage is through the back alley. There is a privacy fence that separates our back yard from the private cottage courtyard. Sometimes we never even see our guests!

What makes this cottage unique

The Intercoastal waterway is only 3 blocks away. It is very nice to take a stroll or a bike ride along the water. There are "Ski Bike" stations in and around downtown where you can rent bikes from the street to get around on. There is also a free trolley that you can get on 4 blocks away that will take you downtown and to other shopping and restaurant areas.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage. We loved the location and quiet neighborhood. We were able to walk to different restaurants and coffee shops and had some amazing food. We also really enjoyed going to the beach!

Comfortable guest house in a historic district

  • 5 of 5

This little guest cottage is well located in WPB and has a nice size kitchen and bathroom. Loved the courtyard! We enjoyed sitting outside to eat or just relax in the sun. This cottage is just a few blocks from several unique restaurants and only ten minutes from downtown West Palm Beach which has a variety of restaurants and shopping. Will definitely consider staying there again.

Private Little Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband are seniors and we stayed here once before. It's nice entering from the alley with our own private entrance. It's a little tricky to find but we went down the street first, found the house, then proceeded to the alley trying to match the back of the houses to the fronts. There were addresses in the alley too. There is a small sign on the gate, which may be difficult to see in the dark. It's a good place if you have a hard time getting around. The car is about 15 feet from the door. There is one step to get inside. It's spacious for a small place. I like having a kitchen, although it doesn't have an oven or blender. Both times there were a few non-perishables in the cupboards, which is really nice when I only needed a pinch of this or a splash of that. There is a washer & dryer, vacuum, and assorted cleaning supplies if you make a mess or get the urge to clean. There is a tv with oodles of stations, including Netflix, but we didn't have enough time to sit and watch anything. There were two beach chairs and towels for the beach. I like the fact that we can rent this for 3 or more days as opposed to having to stay a week to a month. We fly out once a year from CA to visit our son and his family and had them over for lunch one day. We have 4 grandkids under the age of 10 and there was enough room for everyone. What you can't see in the reviews is the guest book. There is a guest book with lots of entrees from happy visitors. Some mention the places they went while staying at Casa del Sol, which is a little benefit for those who want ideas of what to do. There are also pamphlets from local places to look at. Unless we decide to go the cheap motel route next year, I would definitely stay here again. Since we fly, we can't bring much with us and I appreciate having the little extras that makes this place more like a home.

This cottage is quaint, clean and loaded with everything we needed. Great location!

  • 5 of 5

It was very private. Very nice sitting area out back. The house inside is very nice. It really felt like a home away from home! Couldn't have asker for much more. The best part, it was a very reasonable rate

I would recommend this cottage to anyone headed to the North side of West Palm Beach. For the price, thjs beat ANY hotel we would have normally booked. Thanks VRBO for having these wonderful listings a step above the hotel sceen! Kae n Johnny

Cozy cottage at West Palm Beach Florida

  • 4 of 5

The rental was clean and had easy access to places where we were going. The cottage had pamphlets for meals as well as maps of the area. The owners were close by if you needed anything.

Sweet cottage

  • 4 of 5

My sister & I recently stayed at Casa del Sol for 3 nights. It fit our needs perfectly with a spacious kitchen and bath and a super comfortable bed. It is a true bargain considering both the neighborhood and quality of the furnishings of the cottage. We loved how private it is and it is a plus to park outside the gate in the back alley. It is a convenient base for exploring both beach and city attractions. Communication with Sue was super easy and we appreciated the clear instructions for finding and checking into the property. We walked to some restaurants in the Northwood area, but for live entertainment and restaurant variety we preferred CityPlace and Clematis Street, plus we weren't 100% comfortable walking in back to the cottage at night from the Northwood restaurant area as there are some sketchy areas on the fringe of Northwood. However, the historic and beautiful neighborhood location of the cottage is serene and lovely to explore on foot, particularly during the day. We liked Sunset Grill and stopped into a new salon called The Beauty Lounge where the owner offered a good deal on a mani and pedi. We would definitely stay at the cottage for future visits to the area. Sue provides basic sand chairs and beach towels making it easy for travelers, but if you plan to spend a few days visiting area beaches (our fave was Juno), I suggest investing in a comfortable beach chair.
