About William Roberts

My wife Nancy and I, William, live in Polk City, Florida. Nancy is from New Jersey and I was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida. We met at the First Baptist Church in West Hollywood, Florida.

I served four years in the Air Force. Nancy and I attended the Bible Baptist Seminary now known as Arlington Baptist College in Arlington, Texas. Here we studied for the ministry and I graduated in 1962.

We organized a church and Christian School in south Florida where we served for 14 years. From there we moved to Ocala, Florida and organized Abundant Funds, a fund raising company for private Christian Schools serving schools in 24 states. In 2008 Abundant Funds merged with another Christian Company and I went into 'semi' retirement. I still work with Christian Schools part time with a company founded by my youngest son.

William Roberts purchased this cabin in 2005

Why William Roberts chose Florida Central Gulf Coast

Nancy and I wanted a place close by to get away from it all and a place where our four sons and their families could enjoy and relax with their families (sixteen grandchildren and two great). The river cabin is also a place we can invite friends on special occasions. We had a choice between the Gulf and the River. Nancy chose the river and it has proven to be an excellent choice.

Our cabin on the river offers scenery and relaxation. Unfortunately we are only using the cabin about 25% of the time. Our bills continue 100% of the time. We decided to place the cabin on the rental program and make it available to others.

Dr. William Roberts

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is in a rustic setting on the river. This is a total change of scenery and being on the water is super relaxing. Across the river from the cabin is the Weeki Wachee Preserve where we observe all types of wildlife including a variety of birds. The river is full of many varieties of fish and manatees..

This was a delightful place to get away. We miss it already.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin had all the comforts of home in a peaceful, inviting setting. We particulary enjoyed the quiet time by the river in the early mornings. It was also fun to explore the area, which has some beautiful drives and good Gulf seafood. We highly recommend a stay at this cabin on the Weeki Wachee.

Cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is very comfortable and had everything we needed for an extended stay. The first days we did see manatees going by. The river always had something - boaters, birds, fish, etc. we made good use of the canoe. A free use landline helped, too.

Owner's Response: A Great Review, The Weeki Wachee River is a busy and FAMILY River full of activity. The large docks are great to sit on and observe the people having FUN and enjoy watching manatees, fish, crabs, birds, squirrels, otters, butterflies and other creatures. The River is patrolled by the Sheriff Department to ensure safety for ALL. We look forward to your return. William

Relaxing and FUN stay on the amazing Weeki Wachee

  • 5 of 5

This was my third stay at a VRBO rental on the Weeki Wachee river and it was my favorite so far. The cabin has been set up inside to be comfortable and lived in. We felt at home. As one other reviewer said you do need to bring your own TP and dish soap.

The other rentals we stayed at were in the canals downriver and somewhat fancier (which cost appropriately), but this cabin is at THE perfect spot on the river. On the weekend lots of boaters go by and it's fun to people watch. On the weekdays all we saw was Manatees swim by. We paddled up to the spring twice in the sturdy Gruman canoe provided with the rental. I was relieved that the paddles were not cheap and flimsy.

The Owner is a wonderful person to deal with. He even called on the night we arrived to make sure we got in alright. Very nice. We will definitely be looking for another visit.

Owner's Response: Great review, Thank You. You are so correct about people watching on weekends. All kinds and ages of people. Some swimming, some wading, some in boats, some in tubes, some in kayaks and some snorkeling. One Saturday I sat on the dock and looking both ways I counted 85 people. However, during the week it is much less crowed and the manatees come around our docks feeding on the grass. People watching on weekend and manatee and other wildlife sightings during the week. We are thrilled you had such a great time and look forward to your return. William & Nancy

This place was everything we were looking for. You do need to bring all food you'll want to eat (duh!) and TP and dish soap (if you want to hand wash dishes). They have a dish washer, and we were alotted 2 packets to run it. They supply all the towels and washcloths you need. I didn't see if they had laundry detergent for guests to use for the washer...

We arrived about 11pm. Easy keyless entry. Grocery store about 10-15 min drive away. I cannot WAIT to get back. I could live here indefinitely!!!!

Owner's Response: Great Review, Thank You. Sara is correct you do need to bring your own brand of TP and dish soap for hand washing dishes. We only give you enough to get started. The washer and dryer are on site for your convenience. A great place to enjoy family/friends and RELAX. Looking forward to your return visit William & Nancy

Superb stay!

  • 5 of 5

Ahhh, how I wish I owned this cabin! It was such a treasure. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. Usually, I have to warm up to a place before I feel comfortable. But not the case here. The entire place was so clean and uncluttered. The bathroom looked like it had never been used; sparkling white! Everything was where it should be, even down to the electrical outlets. The AC & hot water run perfectly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Weeki Wachee. We did go to the busy state park for the kids' sakes (be sure to get a $2 blow mold mermaid from the machine outside gift shop), but my husband & I couldn't wait to get back to "our" cabin :) We felt envied by all the river goers, as they drifted by eyeing this adorable cabin. The river is so clear, cold & refreshing! We saw manatees every day. And no mosquitos?! Only some no-see-ums. Morning cup of coffee on the dock was the best.

And can I just say, it was so nice to not have 101 rules and regulations to follow while at the cabin. Check out was a breeze! Can't wait to come back. I was already checking my calendar when I got home.

Owner's Response: A Tremendous review. I agree a cup of coffee on the dock or porch early morning (6-8) and watch the RIVER WAKE UP . The birds begin singing, squirrels begin running around looking for nuts or what ever, lizards looking for bugs to feed on, rabbits hoping around, fish jumping and butterfly's decorating the scene. This is my favorite time to just relax and commune with GOD. Nancy & I look forward to your family returning to the River & River Cabin.
