Though the Fairview Vacation Pad is a self-contained apartment, my home is downstairs, so you have someone to help out if you need it.
Fell in love with Asheville, Fairview, and this house, and had to buy it. Renovated it to add the Fairview Vacation Pad. I live downstairs on the main level. On the lower level is the supplemental apartment along with my workspace, which I use for my therapy practice and to offer workshops in Holotropic (and other) Breathwork and Core Energetics. I specialize in couples therapy, so feel free to inquire about possibilities for transforming your relationship while on your vacation.
Ted Riskin purchased this apartment in 2010
Asheville is the perfect town - big enough to entertain and feed you well, but small enough to be easily navigable. Fairview is the perfect access point for Asheville - an easy 20 minute drive from almost anywhere in town, but more affordable, cleaner, and more beautiful. The house was built with love and quality by a contractor who moved in with his family after completing it.
You have a private apartment without being stuck on your own in some cabin in the boonies. You can rent just the main 2 BR apartment, or you can add the downstairs supplemental apartment as well (additional cost is about half of the main apartment). Staying downstairs involves climbing several flights of deck stairs to join the guests in the main apartment.
Ted's place is well designed with all of the latest technical updates. Wait until you see the colorful light display in the kitchen - it really adds to the atmosphere of the place! The kitchen is well stocked and everything in the whole apartment feels new. Ted is very helpful and accommodating. Even though the apartment is above his house, it feels completely private. The hot tub, and the view are to die for. The TV set up is super advanced and because of that was a pain for us to manage at times. My advice - when he gives you instructions on how to use the TV/DVD/Music system, pay attention, then try it yourself, and ask him to show you again. I fought with smart remote and the TV the entire time! But when I finally did get it to work my whole family really enjoyed watching netflix pics on such a huge amazing screen. The drive to asheville is super easy. If you are staying out of town, Ted's place is the real deal.
Great location, clean, convenient and beautiful! Thank you for the hospitality and we will be back :-)
The place and setting are beautiful. Unfortunately, the hot tub did not get past 85 degrees & I believe this problem is being addressed. It was immaculate, and the kitchen had all you needed to make a nice meal. The washer and dryer are a plus! I would change out the couch to something more comfortable, although it looks nice, its not very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it! Ted and Jeannine were very pleasant and easy to deal with.
I came into town for 3 nights, for continuing education classes.. Took me about 15 minutes or so to get to downtown Asheville. Very easy drive. The owner was very available and accommodating. He was thorough with instructions on all his fun gadgets in the property. The lights were bonus. lol a fun little addition that you can choose to enjoy or not. The hot tub was amazing after a long day of studying and night at the brewery. Something that I especially loved that I didn't see mention of was the tiny twinkling lights in the trees at night. I still don't know if those were hung or some sort of a light illusion.. All I know is that they made me feel like a pixie in a tree house :) The beds were comfortable, the entire place was immaculately clean and the location was far enough off the beaten path to relax in the quiet.. but close enough to enjoy all that Asheville and surrounding areas offers. I cant wait for my next excuse to book here.
This property was perfect for a Spring Break getaway for my son and me. It was convenient to all of the action in Asheville- shopping, restaurants, entertainment- and yet far enough away to provide a peaceful retreat in a natural setting. There was even a lovely hike through the woods right out our back door.
The owner was available with recommendations and information, and yet not at all intrusive.
The unit itself was immaculate and very tastefully decorated and fully furnished. We were able to cook several meals there, saving money as well as enjoying the quiet mornings on the deck. The hot tub was also appreciated after a long day of shopping in Asheville!
After recent rentals, I appreciate even more the effort this owner goes to in order to provide fresh, clean, updated accommodations.
I will definitely recommend to others and would rent this property again!
Ted is an awesome owner, very responsive. This property is located 30 minutes from everything you can want to do in Asheville. Close enough to get there without the crazy drive, but far enough to have a feeling of solitude. We will definitely stay here again.
