This 100 year old finca has been recently renovated and tastefully decorated, On the ground floor you all find an open plan fully fitted kitchen, diner, sitting room, a separate smaller lounge with open fireplace, large laundry and store room and toilet. Upstairs there is the master bedroom on suite, single bedroom, 1 family room (with double and single beds), a double bedroom and a surprisingly large family bathroom with bath and separate shower. The double kitchen doors open to a large outside dining area, shaded by vines with spectacular views over the surrounding mountains and valleys to the sea in the distance. Surrounded by a garden with private pool /jacuzzi and many flowers, olive and almond trees. This traditional Spanish house has a very welcoming and warm feel, a peaceful and quiet location with magnificent views and only a short drive from the village of Riogordo with all amenities, shops and regular bus service to Malaga city.

This property is located 30 minutes drive from Malagas historic centre, 60 minutes from Granada and 90 minutes from both Cordoba and Sevilla.

The beach at Torre del Mar, Malaga or Torremolinos are a 30 minutes away and the picturesque resort of Nerja is a 45 minute drive.

Sometimes when you select a property the photos advertising it are better than the real thing and you end up a little disappointed...that is certainly not true with casa Jose Ramon. The house is wonderful, one of the best we have stayed in. The attention to detail takes you away from the rental feeling and makes you feel at home straight away. It had everything we needed and more..our boys (5 and 7) loved feeding the fish and the pool was perfect for them. The view really is simply stunning and makes you never want to leave. We had plans to visit the big sites but the local area was so lovely we didn't venture too far. Loved the trip to Comares after staring across at if from afar, well worth a visit. Definitely recommend.

The Riogordo area

Places of interest:

El Tajo del Gómer. One of the most beautiful areas around Riogordo, where a trekking route takes us to the Tajo (Gorge) at the Río de la Cueva.

Ruta de los Montes de Malaga. (Route of the Montes de Malaga) Offers the chance to get to know the nature park a little better by offering a variety of itineraries such as the one which starts at the Venta Fuente Reina a typical country restaurant, leading on to the recreation and camping area of Torrijos. Visitors here will be able to see the Torrijos Ethnological Museum which has been set up in an old farmhouse that preserves its original roof beams and has a wine press over two hundred years old. An alternative is to take the route that starts at the Las Contadoras Nature Centre, an environmental education centre set in a rambling 18th century house, and ends up at the ruins of Jotrón.

Route of the Ventas. (countryside restaurants) Follows the C-345, the old road to Colmenar. The road snakes upwards past pine clad hillsides and offers numerous natural “miradores” with panoramic views of the mountains and sea. But the main attraction of this route are the ventas that line the road and are generally situated in locations with magnificent vistas. Ventas usually offer a varied menu of typical local gastronomy for instance, “plato de los Montes” of fried eggs, chorizo sausage, fried green peppers and tasty pork loin, washed down with “vino de los Montes”, a tawny-coloured sweet muscatel wine from the Montes, and finally a traditional “digestivo” drink known as aguardiente. Alternatively you might like to try dishes such as country-style rabbit stew or partridge in broth. Then there are the delicious cakes and preserves such as “borrachuelos”, wine-flavoured fritters glazed in honey, “batata confitada” (candied sweet potatoes) or “mostachones con piñones” (pine nut macaroons).

Caserbermeja. Worth visiting, if for no other reason than in the year 1840 it threw out all the landowners and declared itself a republic, the government of the day took an entirely different view and sent the army to explain this was not an acceptable course of action. Casabermeja also forms part of another itinerary.

Route of the Almond Trees (“Ruta del almendro”), which includes the village of Almogía. Amongst the other routes running through the Montes de Malaga are the

Route of the Olive Oil (“Ruta del aceite de los Montes”) which takes in Alcaucín, Alfarnate, Alfarnatejo, Colmenar, Periana, Riogordo and Viñuela.

Route of the Raisin (“Ruta de la pasa”), which includes the villages of Almáchar, El Borge, Comares, Cutar, Moclinejo and Totalán.

Relaxing

The farmhouse is very well finished and well maintained.If you want somewhere to get away and relax go here. It is up a very steep hill just make sure you get a decent size hire car if there are several in the car our little fiat 500 made it but only just!

The position of the house and pool though are fantastic.if you are looking for sun ,peace and quiet I would highly recommend.We had a lovely relaxing time.

Wow! What a great experience! The location was perfect with great access to nearby towns. The house was very clean, welcoming and had everything we needed and more! Views where even more spectacular than they look in the pictures! I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a nice, relaxing getaway! Thanks Simon!

Beautiful setting but cold in the Winter

This place has a triple gold star location - the views are breathtaking. We have stayed in many houses with views in Europe over the years, but this is undoubtedly the best. The house is on a very small plot but the view makes it feel vast. Dont be fooled by the pool pictures, it is really just a puddle with a Jacuzzi (which runs for just 30 seconds before you have to get out and switch it back on!) - not for swimming. Pool lights didnt work. We were here for Christmas so it was too cold anyway, although we tried it! The sea in Scotland is warmer. House is very elegantly decorated and we only had one problem and that was with the heating which if you come at any other time will not be an issue. The owner had not bothered to get the place opened up before we arrived, despite our requests and it took 3 days to warm it up - at over 600m it gets cold as soon as the sun disappears around 4pm and stays cold until 11am. Wood for the fire was stored outside (even though we were told it was all under cover) in bags and the week before they had had torrential rains so we had to collect our own - something we did on our walks so no real hassle but certainly a lack of thought on his part. Local village is friendly and there is very easy access to Malaga (the market is a must), Granada etc . Do book the Alhambra before you go - we assumed that it would be less busy at Christmas but it was fully booked when we got there - their website is a mess. Granada itself is still well worth a visit. All in all we had a lovely time despite the lack of help and the view alone was the worth booking.

Perfect home & view overlooking Riogordo

Well - what can I say - it was perfect in every way. The home felt like we were home and had every amenity anyone could possibly need or want. The 360 degree views over the valley were amazing. The flowers/gardens, the fish pond, fresh mint, limes, rosemary and lavender, the air was clean and fresh. We were able to go to Malaga, Nerja, Ronda, Cordoba and visited the area pueblo blancos. The evenings spent on the porch overlooking the gardens, pool, olive groves and three sisters - superb!!! Highly recommend this stay!

Un séjour très agréable

Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable dans cette maison qui est décorée avec beaucoup de soin et de goût. Le jardin est très joli et bien entretenu, la piscine aussi et c'est un endroit rêvé pour y être avec des enfants. L'endroit est très calme et bénéficie d'une vue magnifique, que nous ne nous lassions pas d'admirer. La localisation de la maison nous a permis d'aller visiter les grandes villes d'Andalousie puis de revenir au calme, dans cette maison. Le propriétaire est très serviable et disponible.
