About Charles and Donna Evans
Charles and I bought this house just before we got married in 1981. While we have moved for employment, this home has never been far from our minds, and we love it. Our daughter Sarah lives next door and will help you get settled or give you some great tips about the town.

Why Charles and Donna Evans chose Atascadero
When we were engaged to be married we knew that our first order of business was to buy a home. Finding the right home proved to be hard and nothing seemed to satisfy us both. Then the realtor brought us to this little home on an acre. As we turned into the drive way and our eyes settled on the front porch, we knew we had found home.
What makes this Cottage unique
While we have neighbors around us, the property has a very rural feel. There is a church across the street, so it is busy on Sunday mornings, otherwise fairly quiet during the week. The house is located on a hill. Many people walk this street for exercise and has been nicknamed the San Clemente Loop. No two houses or properties are alike, so it is interesting to walk the loop or 'block' and see the different houses and landscaping. You know what I love about this neighborhood? First off the neighbors on either side are great (one is my daughter...of course I would say that!). The second thing I love is the way it smells, the grass especially in the summer with the oaks has an earthy fragrance that just seems to help relax me.

Relaxing, quiet home
We really enjoyed out stay. Home was relaxing and quiet. We particularly enjoyed the yard. Watching the chickens and deer in the evening was pure joy for my 3 year old daughter. We felt comfortable and safe
Lovely cottage in the country
What a wonderful unique property. We loved the turn of the century charm. The location is rural but within minutes of downtown Atascadero. We enjoyed watching the little fawns trotting up and down the hill in the morning. It was nice to have Sara and Rob and the kids next door. Lots of privacy but still a sense of a rural neighborhood. We would love to come back again!
Our family loved this place. Perfect for our family of four. Very comfortable. Loved the front and back yard. We enjoyed watching the deer. We would definitely stay here again!
The Colony Cottage is delightful. This was our second stay. We love the location! Charles and Donna are great hosts.
Cute little old fashioned cottage. A throwback to when times were simpler!
Front porch rockers were great. Bed was comfortable and kitchen had all you needed for simple meals. Donna’s daughter’s family lives next door. Maggie their dog perfectly loveable. The Colony Cottage was perfect for our needs! Downtown Atascadero and a Von’s market less than a 5 min drive away. Quiet street.
We were here for two nights and did the Wildflower bike ride. Very nice!!
Peaceful home base
This cottage was superbly welcoming - clean, well-equipped, cozy for the 3 of us. Beds were so comfortable. Porch was a huge treat. We were in the area to visit our son at Cal Poly, and felt this to be a very reasonable distance, and just a fabulous place to “come home” to! Also had the pleasure of meeting the owners , which just made it all that more wonderful.
