Fantastic Ocean Sunset views with Jungle overview and Mountain vistas on a 17 acre private estate just minutes from the coast highway
Location to the best beaches in the South Pacific and the view of the jungle Ocean and mountains. Along with the free daily access to the Ballena (whales) national park at the private Ballena Beach Club.
What a beautiful place! Hard to beat! From early morning coffee on the balcony watching the birds (we saw parrots and toucons our first morning!! What a treat!) to spectacular sunsets by the pool in the evening! We treasured every moment there. The infinity pool is awesome and a very welcome swim at any time. The jungle surrounding this estate is really something! Great views! The owners, Robin and Helen, are so welcoming and kind. Wonderful people! And can't forget their sweet little pug dog, Lulu! We are so happy we found this gem to stay. It is very safe. We anticipated bugs, but encountered very few at all. The room and the entire property is super clean. We even had maid service every 3 days. The balcony with chairs is quite comfortable. There is a refrigerator, sink, toaster, microwave, and stove top as well as any dishes or glasses needed, very well stocked. Made it easy to cook meals at home. There are many restaurants nearby. We ate lunch a few times at the Ballena Beach Club and it was delicious! The calamari in garlic sauce was the absolute best we have ever had! There is so much to do within a 30 minute drive of here. We went deep sea fishing with Diablosportfishing (awesome), snorkeling out to Cano Island with 2 hour boat ride out there through Sierpe River (nice), horseback riding to Nayuaca Waterfall with breakfast and lunch included (fantastic), up the mountains to the Boruca Viillage (amazing)where we were able to meet Marina, the master weaver, who spent time with us to show her craft from picking the cotton, to dye and weave into lovely purses and other items-very special to meet this lady and many other crafters and carvers throughout the village-we highly recommend spending a day here. We had a lowland birding tour at Hacienda Baru with Pedro (the best), walked the many beaches, loved walking through the caves out to the Pacific Ocean at Playa Ventanas at lowtide, took a tour of Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary near Dominical-what a place! The animals they rescue are so fortunate to have this sanctuary. They release them if they can, otherwise care for them for the rest of their lives. What a committment. The entire area is special. We loved every moment of our time there. Staying at this estate was just like being home, so comfortable!
We were promised Wifi. The 1st and 2nd day was very poor reception. The following 5 days we had no reception at all. Our telephone was dependent on wifi. We had 2 very sick elderly relatives, one was hospitalized and one on Dialisys. It was necessary to monitor their medical treatment daily. We also own a very hands on business that requires constant communication. The purpose of our visit to CR was to purchase realestate there. We were left to find wifi at other locations to conduct our business, running in and out made it impossible to relax. We pleaded with Robin to repair the wifi reception, the only response he would tender was it must have been knocked out by a storm. He made no attempt to remedy the situation. We have been traveling to CR for 5 years now and stayed in much more remote locations and never had a problem with wifi.
On a side note and way overshadowed by the lack of wifi the ants were relentless, even finding there way into our bed while we were sleeping. There was no comfortable furniture in the room only one wooden chair so we brought the the plastic outdoor chairs inside. It was either that or get into bed to be comfortable. The bathroom was poorly cleaned. When we checked in he claimed his housekeeper was a no show and he was cleaning the unit himself. He did a very poor job leaving long hair everywhere including the shower drain and floor.
We also requested a microwave in advance and robin told us he would have one in the room, no microwave.
Everything was perfect. If Costa Rica is in your travel plan and you like nature, it is hard to imagine a better place than Robin's. If you don't know Spanish, Robin will help too. Thank you, Robin!
This studio was perfect for the two of us. The place was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Robin, Helen and LuLu were wonderful. The pictures don't do it justice!!! Thanks for a great stay!
We spent our honeymoon in Ojochal. We couldn't have been more pleased. The accommodations were ideal for us. The amenities and our host were ideal. Robin was attentive to our needs and helped make our trip unforgettable with his recommendations and assistance. Honestly, our trip wouldn't have been the same without his help and advice.
Ojochal is a quaint little town. There are a number of fine dining restaurants and many close beaches.
The country and people of Costa Rica are fantastic. In Ojochal, my weak Spanish worked perfectly well with the local's respectable grasp of English. I was surprised by the amount of French being spoken in Ojochal, too. Everywhere we went the food was fantastic and the people were extremely nice.
Costa Rica is definitely on my list of countries to re-visit.
Thank you Robin, for everything.
My wife and I used to plan our trips around adventure and sightseeing, but with life so busy we like to mix in some simple relaxation in our trips these days. This place was perfect, all the amenities to be comfortable, but right in the middle of the jungle when you are ready to do something new. Relax at the pool and enjoy the jungle and ocean views one day, run into town and hop on a whale watching tour the next. A cozy balcony with a kitchenette to start your morning with fresh fruit and bread for breakfast, and plenty of great places to eat to have a quiet, top end, dinner at night. Can't say enough about the place.
Great bird and animal watching from the patio, boogie boarding and surfing at nearby beaches fantastic bill fishing, Boruca indigenous tours, horseback ride the beach, kayak sea caves, raft the rivers, turtle nesting.
