Space 2,500 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

3 BD/2 BA 2,500 Sq Ft Home W/ 600' Of Tidal Water, Connected To Pepperell Cove

Private and quiet, with room to roam, the Chauncey Creek House is a very special place for all to gather, anytime of the year.

Picturesque Kittery Point is part of Kittery, Maine's oldest and southernmost town. Adjacent to York, it retains the unspoiled charm of a historic fishing village.

The Chauncey Creek House has deeded access to Crescent Beach, just a 5 minute walk away and sits on almost two acres of wooded and naturally landscaped property. It borders the neighboring Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge, and the only residential neighbor is across the street on the landward side of the house.

Walk the beautiful terrain and safely enjoy a stroll to the beach along Tower Road, a private, low-traffic road in this rural, residential neighborhood.

A total of 6 guests can sleep enjoy the Chauncey Creek House. The three bedrooms are upstairs (two twins beds in one bedroom and a queen bed in each of the other bedrooms) There are 1¾ baths: one full bathroom upstairs with a vanity sink, bath tub with high-end fixtures, and toilet. This bathroom upstairs has two doors- one off the master bedroom and the other off the hallway. The downstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower with high-end fixtures and toilet.

Pets and children are welcomed guests. We have a playpen, gate, and booster seats for your convenience.

The home provides a large grassy fenced in lawn. Please keep your pet on a leash when visiting the beach.

The 2,500 sq. ft home welcomes guests with warm, colorful walls, hardwood floors and inviting comfortable furniture. The home is a modified cape house, with serene views of the tidal water and National Wildlife Refuge.

From each room, large windows offer views of the large pine and oak trees and the quiet waterfront beyond. This is a property that friends and family frequent, so guests will find all the necessary conveniences of home like cookware, utensils, spices, oils and serving bowls and trays to present any small or large meal. There are typically used condiments in the refrigerator.

The kitchen's large, open floor plan accommodates those that find themselves gathering in the kitchen, awaiting the next delicious meal. The large windows allow guests to catch sightings of wildlife and watch the ebb of flow of the creek's tide, just steps away.

The basement is equipped with a ping pong table and board games. It also has a water view.

There is plenty of scenery from any directions when traveling to Chauncey Creek House, along Mine Route 103 and US HWY 1.

It’s a pretty drive that winds past coastal cottages, salt marshes and forested properties. The rock fences and classic New England homes and historic buildings line the road, as it curves and edges past the water, with views of bobbing lobster boats anchored in the harbor.

Guests are welcome to use the canoe and row boat or bring boats. The property has a private floating dock. However, there is not a boat launch on the property.

About Lucy, manager

Welcome to Kittery Point! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have, since I first discovered it in 1969. I have been the only owner since 1990. I have lived in and around the New England coast and central Maine for many years. I owned and operated a hydrogeology firm until 2006 and now work as a Senior Associate, Hydrogeologist for STANTEC . When I am not in Maine, hiking or boating, I am either living in Orange Beach, AL or traveling to Bequia in Grenadines or Switzerland.

Lucy, manager purchased this house in 1990

Why Lucy, manager chose Southern Coast of Maine

I fell in love with this area many years ago and have many friends in the area that together we enjoy hiking, sailing, and kayaking.

What makes this house unique

The location of the property is ideal because of its proximity to outdoor activities and access to tidal water out the back door, the a private dock. I love sharing with others the great hiking, the beaches, and being on the water.

Loved our stay here! Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5, (my husband and myself, our adult daughter, our married son and his wife) and our daughter's little dog had a blast staying here. We loved waking up to the beautiful morning views of the water and sunshine; what a happy way to wake up every morning! We enjoyed having our morning coffee on the great deck. Mutt, the dog especially liked it out there. We used the baby gate to block him on the deck, and he enjoyed watching the birds and the squirrels. My morning walks through the neighborhood were pleasant and refreshing; I loved all of the views and made pictures most mornings; I met neighbors who were so friendly. We became friends for the week! The office/study was a great place for our son to work while vacationing! His wife loved the extra table by the big window, where she did some of her artwork. But he also spent time working on the screened porch. He is our chef, so the grill was an added bonus for our steaks and fresh salmon. We enjoyed meals on the screened porch, and also at the local seafood restaurants nearby. Our daughter and daughter in law, and I enjoyed the many antique shops nearby. The location of the house is PERFECT! Close to restaurants, grocery stores, activities (if wanted), the beach, but still in a quiet secluded neighborhood. We walked to the nearby beach in the afternoons when the tide was low. We had our own private beach, for the most part! Maybe a few birds, occasionally a neighbor walking their dog, or just walking on the beach. My husband spent most of his time on the deck reading and relaxing. The bedrooms were perfect for the 5 of us. The house is quite roomy. There was so much to do, with the canoes, ping pong table, games, puzzles, books ( our son started reading a book from the library that he was determined to finish before leaving! Not sure he quite did!) We made a fire in the firepit at night, and roasted marshmallows and had s'mores! The adult kids took the canoe out in the quiet and calm of the morning. If you are looking for a great family get away, this is the place! We made many memories here that will not soon be forgotten.

A tranquil oasis

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chauncey Creek House. The house is spacious, comfortable and welcoming. The property is in a very private and peaceful setting with room to roam. I loved watching the shorebirds in the creek. It was nice to have the beaches close by and we had the best time watching our 20 month old grandbaby play in the surf for the first time. The memories are priceless :) We had the most amazing family vacation--we'll be back! Thank you!

Secluded getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week on Chauncey Creek! The house rests on a wooded hillside that has the feeling of being on a remote lake, yet it's a short drive from the outlets, restaurants and the interstate. The house and property are spacious and very comfortable. We plan to stay again.

Quiet and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home, everything was super easy to arrange- loved living on basically a private island. 10 minutes drive from everything- lobster, ice cream, outlets, and more, but tucked away. The house itself has two huge bathrooms, two gorgeous bedrooms upstairs with enormous windows to see the quiet inlet, and is a 10 min walk from a beach with all sorts of cool things (seals! snails! birds!) If you'd like a beautiful Maine get away- this is it!

Beautiful property... quiet, peaceful area

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice time staying at the Chauncey Creek property over the 4th of July. The house is in a beautiful setting on a very nice street that is safe/easy to walk.

The house met all of our needs, with kitchen supplies and comfortable beds. Even though there is not any AC, each bedroom had a fan that we took advantage of. It cooled off nicely in the evenings. We used the canoe one day, and fished off of the dock a few nights and caught some stripers. Walk to the beach was only 8-10 mins. Rocky during high tide, and a nice sand beach during low tide.. very cool to see the difference. House is conveniently located between Portsmouth NH and York ME. Easy to get to restaurants, etc.

Bad time for mosquitoes apparently... striped Asian species were super aggressive, mostly in the grassy areas. Luckily they didn't venture on to the deck.. but were all over the yard so we didn't get the opportunity to have a fire at night, or sit out by the water. They were that bad. We would definitely stay here again, the house was very well kept. Only things to note that some of the 'amenities' provided were in pretty poor condition... beach chairs, childs booster seat. And may want to consider adding some more/better seating in the family room. There is a nice leather couch, but the other 2 chairs are very old and not comfortable.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback Ashley! I'm afraid there is not much to be done about the Maine mosquitos . There are many days where they are not issue but when they are...we wish for good winds and low moisture to keep them away..and insect repellent. 😊 The decks were positioned with that in mind, allowing an outside area away from the "cruising height" of the insects. Regarding the chairs, thanks for the feedback. It's been a frequent topic of discussion with David and I . Just when we had decided to replace them, we received a guest feedback that they loved the old leather chairs. I personally agree with you - time to replace which we will do in the fall. We had pulled the beach chairs, beach bag/towels and child booster seats out of storage after one guest requested the items last year. I purchased a new baby crib also. I really didn't expect they would get any use. Now that I know more guests are interested, I will improve. Again, appreciate the feedback. thanks, lucy

Sea Point and Crescent Beaches - Sea Point Beach can be accessed at the end of Sea Point Road. Look for the small parking area that marks the entrance to Sea Point Beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach during the day until June 15th. Abide by parking signage-only residents with valid dump stickers are allowed to park at the head of the beach after May 15th. Sea Point's has a 550-yard sandy crescent beach with gentle surf on the north side of a tiny peninsula and is backed by a marsh, providing wonderful bird-watching. Nearby Crescent Beach, also backed by salt marsh, is the 'local' beach, and a great stopping point on a winding bike trip along the coast.

Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier- If you’re looking for an authentic lobster-in-the-rough experience, this is the seafood shack for you. Lobsters, steamers, mussels, and all other sorts of fresh seafood are served atop brightly colored picnic tables on a deck overlooking the creek of the same name. It’s BYOB, and many patrons arrive toting an assortment of accessories to enhance the meal — side dishes, tablecloths, candles, bug spray. The view of the water is what makes this an outdoor dining experience not to miss. With the post office just across the street and the town dock tucked down behind The Captain and Patty’s restaurant, which in turn lies directly behind Enoteca, this truly is the hub of Kittery Point.

On the other side of Chauncey Creek and the house, along Brave Boat Harbor Road, there is the enterance to 1.8 mile loop trail that takes you through the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.

The closest full service grocery is Hanafords in York. There is a small gas station/deli/grocery about 10 min. drive. It is called Kittery Food Mart (Irving gas).

Our house cleaner offers additional services to be negotiated separately such as shopping, errands, meal preparation, additional cleaning, special events, etc. Her website is . Her name is Carolyn Heps 603.380.3837
