About the property

Entire Upstairs Floor - The GableSuite sleeps 1 - 6 people - has own entrance

Come stay in the GableSuite. This charming suite encompasses all the nooks and crannies of the second floor of the Best Kept Secret B & B (Bed and Bath). We are located right downtown in a beautiful historic home that was built in 1914.

This unique accommodation includes a small bedroom (yes, under the gables overlooking the front garden) with a queen bed. There is also an ample living room with a comfortable queen sleeper couch and built in desk area with free wi-fi. The bathroom has a shower, tiled floors and sink with a travertine counter top and lots of storage.

The kitchenette includes a bar sink, a single induction burner for cooking, along with a coffee pot, crockpot, toaster, toaster oven and microwave. There is an apartment size refrigerator (with separate freezer compartment) and a nice butcher block kitchen table that seats four to six people. Enjoy a sunny start to your day as you enjoy breakfast under the skylight or watch the moon pass overhead as you stay up late playing cards or cribbage! The possibilities are endless.

Off the kitchenette is a twin bed - yes, under the gables! Next to the kitchenette is a small den with a TV and double recliner love seat. The den leads to the upper porch with a full-sized couch and small eating table with two chairs and an umbrella (except in winter). From the porch you can look down on the labyrinth and back gardens and enjoy a 360 degree view, looking at Red Mountain, Iron Mountain and Lookout Mountain. Your private entrance to the GableSuite is up the back spiral staircase.

There is a single roll-away bed and pack-n-play; if needed. The back porch has a gate on the top of the stairwell as an added safety feature.

Come stay in the GableSuite and we will greet you on the first floor and escort you up the inside stairs with your luggage and other items. You will then be asked to use only the outside spiral staircase for the duration of your stay. On your departure everything you brought can again be taken out, with ease, through the first floor.

The minimum stay in the GableSuite is three nights during the peak season (May through October) and for Holidays; two nights during the quiet season (November through April).

Other extras include the use of two cruiser bicycles, outdoor hot tub and labyrinth. Discounts are available for the Hot Springs Pool/Athletic Club and Yampah Vapor Caves.

The GableSuite comfortably sleeps a family of four or five, (with the rollaway six people). All linens, towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner and hand lotion are included.

Great place, great host, GREAT LOCATION!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is basically an apartment that is the entire second floor of the house. Lots of room. Sleeps six comfortably. Everything is exactly as explained in the VRBO posting. Eliza is a great host. There if you need her, out of your hair if you don't. And the location is ideal for access to downtown Glenwood Springs, the Hot Springs themselves, Sunlight ski area and the entire Roaring Fork Valley. We will definitely be back!

Great location & very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The owners were so helpful in introducing us to this spectacular area of Colorado! Both hot springs are amazing & the vapor caves are so unique; glad we experienced all of them. We also enjoyed a trail ride & cookout at a nearby working ranch. Hope to return in the future!

Beautiful home in historic downtown!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation in Glenwood Springs and enjoyed our stay in this historic home; We had 4 adults/2 kids and 2 dogs - everyone had plenty of room. The yard is beautiful and Eliza and Dave were wonderful hosts. The house is minutes from downtown/restaurants and a short walk across the river to the Hot Springs Pool! Would definitely recommend to any families! Perfect location!

I usually dislike writing reviews that are longer than one word but the Best Kept Secret was an excellent choice for our 60th Birthday celebration and reunion. We had 7 women in this house. The space was more than adequate plus the atmosphere within and without was gorgeous. The two porches had room for all of us to congregate (+ a couple family members that stopped by) during the hot days and evenings. The temperatures outside were in the high 90's but the house was always in the 70's. There was so much to see and do. We tried to do it all but had to stay at the house sometimes just to relax. And relax we did! Very comfy with everything we needed. Thank you Eliza and David. It was an exceptional stay for all of us!

Great Property!!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Best Kept was great. It's a well cared for, classic home just a couple blocks away from downtown Glenwood Springs. From the time we started planning Eliza was quick to reply and very accommodating. Once we arrived, there were a couple small issues, but they were quickly taken care! Having our 18 month old, they even had a pack n play and a high chair for us to use. The house was well laid out, comfortable, well maintained, and very inviting. Even with six adults, we were all comfortable. It was a great time and we will definitely be back.
