This Quaker-style townhouse was built in 1797 in the Historic District of Nantucket Town and completely renovated in 2008. Two queen bedroom suites plus third-floor alcove with children's sleeping space with two twin beds, living room, dining area, den, modern kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, oven, cooktop, and disposal. Laundry room, wine cabinet, and extra den/TV room. Central air-conditioning and heating. Garden and patio are ideal for outdoor dining from late Spring to early Fall. Fully equipped with WiFi/Internet, cable TV, four zones of AC and heating with controls on each level. Four decorative, non-working fireplaces. Fully equipped with all linens and towels. Laundry and dish-washing supplies provided. Ideal for two couples plus two children. Accommodates a maximum of four adults and two children.

The home is extraordinary in all ways, with every attention paid to detail. Even the toilet paper is high grade. The home has been redone to the highest standards and is quite beautiful. The bathrooms are sumptuous as were our the towels. Every convenience has been provided -- beach chairs and beach umbrella and large beach towels, a giant rain umbrella, washer and dryer, soaps and shampoos -- everything one could want and more. The walk into town is five minutes, and the street is calm and lined with beautiful period homes with flowers in abundance. There are only three drawbacks: 1) there are twins beds on the top (third) floor, but the room is an open loft and there is no bath; in fact, both baths down a flight are inside bedrooms, so, if someone is sleeping or otherwise using the bedroom, the only option is to go down to the first floor and use the half bath there, but, of course, showers have to be shared inside the other two bedrooms by the third floor guests; 2) there is not really a refrigerator, but a refrigerator drawer which gives, as best, the same space as a single shelf of a fridge, and, if piled up, requires constant digging for what you want. There is a similar-sized freezer drawer beneath. There are however, four large refrigerator drawers in the basement level, down a set of steep stairs, so what is not being frequently used can be stored there (we stocked our cans of soda in one of the the drawers downstairs). 3) the parking is a real challenge, and, while a permit at $10 a day can be obtained from the police department, it is still necessary to find a space, and this can require some driving around neighboring streets for a while until one is found, especially at night. We never failed to find one, but it was inconvenient and could be time-consuming. However, these three aspects were more than outweighed by the beautiful home, the extraordinary number of conveniences, great location, and gorgeous terrace in back in which to eat meals and just relax with a good book, and, most all, a gracious, responsive, and considerate host. We'd come back in an instant.

Absolutely loved Nantucket and 46 Fair!

Had an amazing book launch for my wife in Nantucket (at Mitchell's Book Corner). All of the family joined us - son and daughter and significant others! 46 Fair was the perfect place to stay. Plenty of room and every amenity you could hope for. My son-in-law loved the steam shower! Beautiful garden out back to relax and enjoy a drink. Quiet street, but an easy walk to all of the activity and restaurants downtown. John and Carol are wonderful hosts - very responsive to questions and readily available if needed (although our stay was perfect and we did not need to call). This house also has daily light housekeeping which was much appreciated. Would highly recommend this house for your stay in Nantucket.

Amazing Austin House !

We came to Nantucket for a special day ! I was giving my neice away ..We found Austin House on VBRO it looked amazing in pictures that did not do justice to this AMAZING house updated and beautiful!! It lacked nothing we would need to make our stay perfect!! John is a gracious host who will make sure your stay is amazing!!

Great property

I rented this property for the Nantucket wine fest with a few of my girlfriends and loved the entire experience. The house was super cute, close to town and the owner John was extremely responsive and prompt to answer any questions we had. We would definitely rent this property again in the future!

Amazing house, location, and owner!

This house was absolutely perfect for a Memorial Day weekend trip! We had 6 girls staying in the Austin House and we had plenty of room and the sleeping arrangements were great! The bathrooms in this house are also incredibly nice and perfect for us girls to get ready for a night out in. The house still has the historic charm to it while also having an updated/new feel to it. The location could not be more perfect most importantly. It is right downtown (less than 5 minute walk to Main St) and conveniently located to all other parts of the island. The owner of the house was an amazing host! Upon arrival he greeted us and gave us a tour of the home and provides just about everything you could possibly need (towels, linens, shampoos, etc.). We were surprised by a cleaning service that came daily and changed our towels and did small clean ups which was an amazing addition to the weekend. Overall this house was my favorite house I have stayed in on the island and we will definitely be back! Highly recommend! Thank you John!
