What a great experience!
We are Mississippian's and still haven't explored all that our state has to offer, but when we do...explore, we like authentic. This shotgun was next to an antebellum home in a mixed-use neighborhood. We were within walking distance of most of what we wanted to see (if you can hike up a couple of 90 degree +plus hills). Vicksburg's antique and flea markets (you-sell-it stalls) were fabulous! Everything from high-end finds to Sonny & Cher LP's. We also love history and the National Military Park is a stoic reminder of all the troops lost during this country's Civil War. There are mansions to tour, riverfronts to explore, and the food is a mixture of farm-to-table and Cajun ('cause LA is just over yonder).
The cottage was plush with great linens and a very-well equipped kitchen. The gas lamps on the front porch were quaint. The bathroom was updated and comfortable.
I would have liked to known a little bit about the personal history of the building because I dare say there might be a very quiet and friendly spirit in residence, but some would say I had over indulged in rich food and too much wine.
It was a great weekend...long overdue and our hosts were top-notch!
This old and classic cottage was a super location for walking to everything in historic downtown Vicksburg. We have to laugh—even while knowing everybody’s comfort levels are different—the bed was one of the best we ever had in our VRBO experience . . . it’s like crawling into a big comfy cocoon. The hosts were super kind and caring and immediately attentive to our every need with great suggestions for experiencing the locale. We would most definitely stay with them again if we ever have the good fortune for a return visit!
We really enjoyed our getaway. The home was walking distance from shopping and restaurants. Joyce was very helpful with suggestions for dinner, etc. and the place has such charm!
We loved our short getaway weekend stay here.
Super comfortable bed. Owner was very responsive to questions. We will be back!
The home was wonderful. We enjoyed the location and our stay in Vicksburg. There was plenty of room for my wife and I, along with our two canine kids. We had access to the driveway though parking on the street was easy and safe as well. The owner, Joyce, was easy to reach and quick to answer any questions we had. Very hospitable! I would recommend this location to anyone needing a place close to historic downtown or anyone just visiting the area.
Perfect getaway! Great location! Beautiful home! Hospitable hosts!
We stayed for two nights, and we wish we could move in! The house is historic, charming, and perfectly located for walking to downtown restaurants. There’s a private driveway, so we didn’t have to worry about parking on the street (which may not have been a problem anyway). Gene and Joyce were excellent! They thought of everything! Coffee, creamer, sugar, a little welcome basket of goodies, big fluffy towels, an extremely soft bed with plush linens, comfortable leather furniture, and a full kitchen. They had pamphlets laid out for nearby attractions and restaurants and even made some recommendations when we met them! The home has a front and a back unit (we were in the front) and I don’t think anyone was in the back unit while we were there. It was so quiet and peaceful! I would highly recommend staying here!
