We are a turkish family living in Germany. I do the bookings on line and our manager works on site as concierge.
Semra Dogan purchased this apartment in 2006
We purchased this property as a ruin then restored it with steel enhancements from inside against earthquakes. The building consists of five one-bedroom apartments each on one floor. The apartment advertised here is on the top floor.
The building is in a safe and quiet part of Beyoglu. The manager is friendly and ready to help. You may check in or out any time of the day or night. We try to address special requests. Children are welcome. We take all your comments and requests into consideration.
We spent a week in the apartment in May 2016.
Several weeks before arrival we were sent a multi-page information sheet about the apartment and the surrounding area. It was very helpful.
Apartment was as described in listing. It was clean and we didn't have any problems getting the key from the apartment manager. Having the washing machine was nice. We didn't need to contact the owners about anything, but we knew they were available.
The apartment is a 5-10 minute walk from İstiklal Avenue. I personally don't like constantly being approached by people trying to sell you things. However, there are restaurants and stores closer to the apartment that cater to the people who live in the neighborhood and aren't as aggressive about trying to get you to come in. There is a place just around the corner from the apartment that has good take-out food and has staff who are patient with people who don't speak Turkish.
It's about a 15 minute walk to the Metro and funiculars. However, there's a bus stop nearer the apartment on Tarlabaşi Blvd. If you do plan on using the bus system, I'd suggest planning bus routes and printing out the information before you arrive.
Keep in mind that the people in the surrounding buildings live there and you are a guest. There are children playing ball in the street at night and laundry drying on balconies. People are friendly but many don't speak English. If that's outside your comfort zone, you might be better off at a hotel in the tourist areas. But if you think that experiencing another country is more than just hopping on-and-off a sightseeing bus and taking "selfies" in front of the Blue Mosque, consider staying here.
My husband and I enjoyed staying here for a week. It is in a great location for being able to walk to things in Beyoglu (a couple minutes from Istiklal Caddesi, a main street) and a short tram or train to other tourist attractions. The apartment is exactly as pictured and described. It was comfortable and had everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare food (although didn't much because there's plenty of delicious food around Istanbul). The internet did not work very well all the time but it wasn't an issue since we were there to spend time in the city and not online. They gave us detailed instructions before arrival and answered our emails promptly. I would recommend this property to friends and others who are looking for a simple, comfortable, and affordable place to stay in Istanbul.
Everything was perfect. The flat is very spacious and comfortable, there is all that you need.
The flat's position is 2 minutes walking to the main street istiklal caddesi, also there are a lot of minishops nearby and 2 mini market.
The staff is helpful, if you have some issue they resolve it soon.
My wife and I stayed for four nights in the Dogan Studio. It is located in a very convenient location in the Boyoglu neighborhood. In five minutes we could walk to the very popular shopping street where all the shops and small side streets with good restaurants are located. The owners, Semra and Semih, were very communicative before and during our rental period. It was easy to get our key and we found everything in the apartment to be satisfactory. There is a small hostel close to the apartment building that was helpful to us with recommendations, directions, and even letting us use their bathroom when we first arrived! Great rental with a great price!
The building is in a safe and quiet street in Beyoglu, a few blocks away from Taksim Square in Aynalicesme, across the British Consulate on Tarlabasi Avenue, in walking distance to Istiklal Caddesi and Galatasaray.
