About Lisa Gill

Permanent residents of Florida, who enjoy the Florida sunshine. Bought the property in Weeki Wachee to enjoy boating and fishing year round.

Lisa Gill purchased this house in 2007

Why Lisa Gill chose Florida

We bought the property in Weeki Wachee due to its location away from it all. Waterfront property lends to a relaxing atmosphere. Love to sit on the dock, drink coffee and watch manatees and turtles swim by or fish jump out of the water all the way down the canal. When we are ready to go boating, we just step off our dock into our boat and we are on our way to explore the surrounding areas. Love to travel to Homosassa and visit Monkey Island or head south and visit New Port Richey and eat at Hooters or the Crab Shack on the water. There is a beautiful island with white sandy beaches just outside of New Port Richey that is a great place to dock the boat and have a picnic named Enclove Key.

What makes this house unique

Weeki Wachee is a natural spring river with water temperatures year round at 72 degrees. Manatees thrive in the river due to its warm winter temperatures. We even seen dolphins in the river. The water in the river is crystal clear and enjoyed by canoes, tubers, paddle boarders, kayakers and motorboats.

Weeki Wachee is centrally located to visit other places by car or boat. Weeki Wachee park is world famous for seeing the live mermaids. Tarpon Springs is south and has a wonderful waterfront greek village with great food and world famous sponge docks. Homosassa has a wildlife park and many great places to eat on the water. Crystal river is just north of homosassa and is also a great place to visit and explore.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at this home with my husband and it was nothing but spectacular. We brought our boat to use for the 4 days we were staying to go fishing and we caught lots of fish! The home is nice and spacious, definitely room for us to bring friends the next time we visit. The area is nice and quiet with very friendly neighbors. Planning the visit was very easy thanks to the owners who were very helpful and organized. The home is very clean, I felt very comfortable using all of the equipment and kitchenware. We plan on coming back very soon as this has been our favorite VRBO vacation house.

Paddled with the Manatees

  • 5 of 5

Great location to explore Weeki Wachee. We paddled every day and on most days saw manatees. Had our 2 and 4 year old with us on the single kayaks--worked great. For young kids make sure to bring your own life jackets. Kids must be supervised outside due to location on the water. There is a lot to do though outside--bean bag toss...that kept our kids very entertained while we grilled outside. Very comfortable home and great street. Master bedroom was comfortable. Kitchen is very large and open. We did not use the TV beyond watching a dvd so can't speak to that and the wi-fi is very slow. Loved being able to go to the State Park and then put in the kayaks and paddle back to the house while one in the group awaited the shuttle at Rogers Park to go get the vehicle. Only improvement in addition to wi-fi speed would be the sofa--its clean but not very comfortable to sit on. We ate outside on the table downstairs often beside the canal and really liked seeing the fish jump. Relaxing. Do bring some bug spray--the noseums occasionally come out. We ate in the majority of the time as the home is so convenient to prepare meals in and there are numerous grocery stores and roadside stands in the area.

Spacious house on back channel

  • 4 of 5

House was spacious, nicely decorated, very clean and convenient (located within walking distance to three restaurants. The owner responded promptly to questions. A few things made me downgrade to a four. We rented it because it was on the water and there were kayaks and a canoe provided. However, due to the water levels in relation to the dock it turned out to be problematic to launch them and get in easily. When our friends came for an overnight we ended up renting at the Kayak Shack (which was within walking distance). There was a large screen TV and DVD as well as a game center so it would be good for kids (especially older children), but the lighting for reading could have been better. Also, the kitchen could use some replacement cookware, etc. The bed in the Master Bedroom was a very plush pillow-top and I found it comfortable. My husband found it a bit soft. Our overnight guests found the queen in the spare bedroom "hard." These are all a matter of taste.

Great stay - just like the pictures!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this home in Weeki Wachi as first time visitors! It was perfect for our family of six, and it offered many activities that didn't make it necessary to leave the house. We took most pleasure in the area below the house (as its built on stilts) with a grilling and dining area and a half bathroom. Additionally there is a dock that allows you to hop in for a swim, kayaking, or a ride on the river in a canoe. I did wish to see more wildlife, (not any manatee sightings during the middle of January), but we did see some otters one afternoon. We would definitely stay again in the future! Thank you for having us! :)
