A privilege to stay here.

  • 5 of 5

There's no doubt in my mind that we were privileged to have the opportunity to stay in such a beautiful home for the duration of our holiday in the South of France.

Sylvain and Jean-Marco are fantastic hosts - warm and welcoming, full of information and consideration.

Their home is superb - it is exactly as described, but the photos etc cannot do justice to the experience. We spent an absolutely wonderful two weeks in Les Baux.

The location is great - in the middle of everything, in stunning landscape close to some real beauty spots, surrounded by vineyards - what more could you want?

The local towns St Remy, Maussane and of course the more "tourist oriented" village of Les Baux, are great - you can find everything you need on your doorstep and you don't need to travel far for a wonderful restaurant or a really relaxed day out.

We stayed at the house with a 3 year old and a 9 month old and they loved it. It is kid friendly, the vegetable garden, fruiting trees, laying hens and of course the pool are all delightful for small kids. Our families came visiting and everybody had a really great time. We spent most of our time lounging, or dining and we used the outside grill every single day :)

This is a fantastic place to stay and I'd like to warmly thank Sylvain and Jean-Marco for giving our family the opportunity to spend such a wonderful holiday together.

Owner's Response: You and all your family were amazing. You have waited 2 hours for a car rental service, drive all the way from Lyon , get here at 9.00pm with an incredible smile. During your stay you had storms, lightening, shut down power, but it didn't change the way you felt about our property, You are amazing!!!! Thank you so much for your incredible review, and please, come back!!. Love. Sylvain

Paradise in Provence

  • 5 of 5

After a long & tiring journey it was lovely to receive such a warm welcome from our hosts. This was our first visit to Les Hesperides and although we had seen a raft of photos on line you are never completely sure that reality is going to match up – it certainly did! Our smiles widening as we were given a guided tour of this gorgeous property. Beautifully appointed with stunning views all around, yet screened to give complete privacy. As the rest of our party arrived, they too were impressed with the accommodation and the fabulous garden & pool.

It was an ideal location to totally step away from the stress of everyday life and chill out. We loved getting to know the chickens and colleting fresh eggs for breakfast and wandering around the grounds picking the lovely fresh produce. Tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines, peppers & herbs from the vegetable garden ,then checking the fruit trees for what was ripening. It all tastes delicious when it’s so fresh! The kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need and the outside grill was put to good use!

As well as lazing around the pool watching the lizards scurrying about we did stir ourselves to explore some of the local area. The small village of Mausanne has everything you need with a great selection of individual shops. The market at St.Remy de Provence was a delight and we explored several other towns nearby each with their own distinctive characters, including Les Baux of the castle that dominates the skyline above the villa.

We had a brilliant holiday that not only lived up to but totally exceeded our expectations. This may have been our first visit but it definitely won’t be our last!

Perfect… charm and views in the heart of Provence.

  • 5 of 5

We read fantastic the reviews and we were delighted to find that they are true. We were charmed by the lovely home, large well-maintained property with spectacular views and many unique details that made our two weeks here a fun, relaxing and memorable family vacation.

The house is immaculate and comfortable with high-end finishes and Provencal charm. The renovated chef’s kitchen is stocked with quality cooking implements, dishes, etc. The home has many areas to lounge, allowing easy separation when desired. We all spent time napping in the hammocks and loved reading on the upper terrace with the cool breeze and phenomenal view. The adjacent pool and pool house are perfect after a day of traveling to nearby towns. We spent many nights dining alfresco BBQing on the olive wood fire while watching the expansive sky for shooting stars.

What sets this property apart is the spectacular garden filled with flowers and fruit trees and landscaped with an impeccable eye. The views range from the nearby Les Baux castle to the 60-mile vista overlooking olive orchards to the Marseille harbor--giving us the feeling we were in a private resort.

The home seems remote but it’s only minutes to drive to Maussane. We especially enjoyed Maussane’s many lovely restaurants---our favorite is Aux Ateliers Chez Franck et Flo, it’s fun and the food is fantastic. The home is ideally situated within 15 minutes to 1-hours drive from the most desirable towns of the region.

We had many hysterical moments trying to interact with the chickens. We felt we were really living the Provencal lifestyle when we gathered our eggs, picked tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant and fresh herbs for our meals. The kids wandered freely among the expansive property gathering peaches and plums and exploring the ridge above the house and trails through the olive orchards.

We were in heaven the two nights that chef Jean-Philippe cooked for us. We lounged by the pool with our wine and watched the sun set from the terraced gazebo as he provided a fantastic meal and then cleaned up everything.

Our gregarious hosts, Sylvain and Jean-Marc, welcomed us with an aperitif, showed us the expansive property and invited us to wander and eat the fruit and vegetables. Sylvain is warm and easy to work with. It is apparent that they have put a great deal of thought into providing everything their guests could need. We were thrilled with our choice and highly recommend this property.

The most beautiful property in Provence

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I returned to this beautiful property for our third stay in Les Baux de Provence for two weeks this summer. The renovations that were done to the house are first class. The kitchen is modern and beautifully updated. All stainless steel appliances, American size refrigerator, double ovens, custom made cabinets, granite countertops. Everything you want and need in a kitchen and more. The flat screen tv in the kitchen is a nice bonus. The first floor hall bathroom has also been updated, as well as the beautiful new shower and sink in the second bedroom. The third bedroom has been completely redone to allow it to be an enclosed space with it's own door. The family room off of the kitchen includes four comfortable chairs and a center cocktail table to allow for conversation while dinner is cooking, or a nice glass of wine while reading a book. Of course, the main draw of the property is the landscaping, which again is magnificent. This year, we picked fresh apricots from the trees, saw the pears growing on the trees, ate our fill of fresh picked tomatoes, zucchini and eggplant from the garden. The lavender was in full bloom all around the property as well as other exotic flowers which truly makes you feel like you are in paradise. No other property can compete with the views of the castle at the top of Les Baux, especially when the sun is setting a pink golden hue and the breeze blows gently. Sylvain and Jean Marc as always were charming and attentive to our every need. We have memorable conversations and laughs and love catching up with them. We will count the days until we see our friends again next year when we look forward to another unforgettable vacation. Thank you Sylvain and Jean Marc for sharing this beautiful home with us. Your friendship means so much to us and we will count the days until we see you again.

The Only Way to Visit Provence

  • 5 of 5

Perfect. From booking to departure, it was a perfect experience. We fell in love with the house, the 18-ish acres, and our hosts immediately. The house is gorgeous and comfortable, updated with air conditioning and a larger, more "American" kitchen, which was much fun to cook in. We took advantage of Provence's fabulous produce, but merely added that to what we picked outside: sweet strawberries, peaches, or apricots, any of the many herbs, and whatever vegetables were ready. And eggs. The marvelous eggs. We dined under the rose arbor, or next to the outdoor fireplace/grill, or on the table from where we could admire our castle, Les Baux. Cocktail hour was either around the pool, surrounded by a lush and colorful garden, or "up top" in the comfortable gazebo, with its view of olive groves, vineyards, and blue sky....not another house to be seen! We miss our hosts and we're thankful for the time we got to spend together, making new friendships. Sylvain wanted everything to be perfect. And it was.

A treasure in the heart of the Provence

  • 5 of 5

Having rented houses nearby in Les Baux in the past we were thrilled to find this lovely house to rent. It's nestled in the lush valley beneath the magnificent, medieval town of Les Baux and offers expansive views of the surrounding gorgeous countryside.

The gregarious and welcoming home owners greeted us with cheese and wine and went over any info we might need while staying there. They were only a phone call away for any further questions we may have had and twice a week a sweet housekeeper and a gardener were also helpful with small details (although they only spoke French).

It is indeed just as the photos show - a lovely, large home beautifully furnished and very spacious. It was meticulously clean with good linens and screened windows. With several friends joining us during our two week stay the smaller, sunny one bedroom cabin just off the veranda and down some steps offered privacy and romance. The many gardens were 'winding down' since it was the end of the season but we enjoyed the fruit trees, eggplant, tomatoes and herbs the veggie garden proffered and loved hearing the chickens and rooster penned down the driveway - and enjoyed the eggs from them!

We were very happy in the handsome master bedroom which has a small terrace off of it looking over the olive groves toward the Mediterranean and other windows framing the castle of Les Baux . The canopied queen bed was quite comfortable and a large Jacuzzi tub and shower are part of the bedroom with the toilet adjacent to the room. There is good closet space too in all the other three bedrooms.

The firewood grill dining area has folding, glass doors that open onto the patio surrounding the pool and they offer protection from any less-then-perfect weather and bugs. We all had many delightful evenings eating there, as well as under the wisteria-arbored dining area off the living areas.

Only issue we had during our stay was the quirky light switch controls. Hopefully that snafu will be ironed out.

We were pleased when the owner told us they were completely renovating the kitchen area this winter as it was quite outmoded. That renovation should make the whole place perfect.

We loved the entire area and could easily get to Avignon, St. Remy, Arles and other fabulous towns for farmer's markets and shopping.

Anyone who rents this house will feel they too have discovered a treasure and Provencal vacation heaven.
