The apartment is situated in a typical Venetian area, near the supermarkets, fruit and vegetables market, the Ghetto, and easily reaching from Piazzale Roma (bus terminal) Santa Lucia (Rail station). You can arrive from the Marco Polo airport with the boat (Alilaguna) and also with the public boat-service (ACTV) at San Marcuola or Madonna dell'Orto boat stop.
My husband and I spent Mothers Day Weekend(FSS) at Daniela's place. Her grandson Marco met us at the stationery. Thanks Marco! The flat was in a secluded area with wonderful roses blooming all around. Not a high rise. The flat had tons of room for us with a full bath on first and second floor. I would rearrange the furniture to take advantage of the canal view, but that's me.
I was terrified of getting lost in Venice but actually could navigate so much better my second time. I think I get it now! Many wonderful restaurants in area and far from the maddening crowds! Now if she had WiFi we could stay longer. Thanks Daniela!
The photos and description give an accurate impression of this apartment. We stayed in March and were glad of the cosy central heating. The second bedroom has a single bed and skylight with no shutter, so the apartment is better suited if you only need 1 bedroom, and then the 2nd can be used as a dressing room. The kitchen has everything except an oven - but who uses an oven on holiday? The area has several restaurants and bars within a 5 minute stroll, and is away from the main tourist area but attracts enough visitors that you don't stand out. You can be in the heart of the tourist area within 10 minutes. The flat is in a quiet location overlooking a canal used only by local traffic. Daniela kindly waited for us at the water boat stop even though we were delayed, and guided us the 5 minute walk back.
This apartment is perfect - we could hardly believe our luck. The living room is exactly as pictured, spacious, with gorgeous antique furniture, comfortable sofa and chairs, and huge windows which open straight out onto the canal - magic! The kitchen offers everything you need to cook at home - we had fun shopping for food at the nearby Rialto fish & vegetable market - and there are many good local restaurants nearby if you prefer to eat out. Daniela was a wonderful host who met us at del Orto stop and showed us to the apartment - including a welcoming bottle of prosecco in the fridge.
The facilities are very modern, with two new bathrooms. Both showers are excellent with good water pressure. The downstairs bathroom has a new washing machine - great when you're travelling for weeks. Beds are extremely comfortable and bedrooms are quiet and very light and sunny - with shutters for a good sleep! Main bedroom overlooks the canal and fascinating old buildings opposite.
Within a short local stroll is an excellent deli with salamis, cheeses, yoghurt; a fresh bread shop; wine shop and several restaurants. In the other direction, supermarkets and shops. Ca' d'Oro vaporetto stop and St Sophia traghetto is a 10-minute walk so getting to Rialto, San Marco and all the sights is easy - plus the Alilaguna stops at del Orto so you can easily travel from and to the airport from the apartment.
We had a wonderful time with so much to see in Venice, and Daniela's lovely apartment felt like a true home for the week we were there. Cannaregio is a fascinating area with so many ancient churches and a 'local' feel, yet it's handy to every other part of Venice. I'm always amazed how quickly you can get away from the streets packed with tourists to the quiet and calm just a couple of bridges away.
I thoroughly recommend this apartment - it's even more charming than the pictures show, quiet, handy, clean and very warm - Venice was cold in October and it was wonderful coming back inside .The canal view is a bonus. Daniela has also provided a selection of books about Venice, maps and information about sights and entertainment. Thank you Daniela for a wonderful stay.
this really is a gem in venice: the owners welcomed us at the vaporetto stop and took us to through small streets to this beautiful place. Everything you need is there, including a bottle of prosecco.
We would choose this place again and again. The atmosphere is wonderfull, the neighbourhood great.
Two convenient vaporetto stops at walking distance and because of the canalview you can start your day by looking at boats coming by bringing milk around and other stuff.
Dank nochmals an Daniela.
