Town House near the River Thames the O2 and Excel great Transport
Stay at our lovely house.. we are now Airbnb superhosts and have been for the last two quarters.. so we got 5 Star reviews more than 80% of the time up to June 2017 from 26 different customers.
Set in this Historic Area on the River Thames in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The Royal Arsenal and Military Academy date to the 15th century. Surrounded by parks, gardens in an area that is mostly pedestrian only with no through traffic.
There are several bars and cafes within the Royal Arsenal.. Corner Stone Cafe, The Tap Rooms micro brewery, Dial Arch Gastro Pub, Guard House Restaurant Bar, Con Gusto restaurant the Farmers Market, M&S Food Hall and Tesco Super Market within a couple of minutes walk of the house.
The Town House is a large 3 storey house with five bedrooms three bathrooms.. two with showers, one with shower over bath ..it can sleep up to 14.
Thames river boat service leaves from a pier just by houses direct to Westminster, it also stops at the O2,Canary Wharf, Tower of London and other places.
If you wish to play golf there are many courses within a short distance.. including Shooters Hill and Blackheath golf course.. two of the oldest in the UK.
If you would like to see a football match West Ham, Charlton & Millwall are great places to experience football first hand.
We can help you arrange football or golf visits.. car and taxi transfer.. we have arranged very reasonable rates for taxi's and transfers.
We may also be able to arrange guided visits of parts of London with a retired.. but fully trained guide.
The Stations.. One a tube train link under river direct to London City Airport 5 mins (DLR)on to Canary Wharf, Bank and The Tower, the other has Trains to Charring Cross 20 mins, London Bridge. town centre and market are less than 5 minutes walk, as are restaurants, cafes and a vibrant fruit market. The Thames path and cycleway goes past the house.
The house is ideally located for visiting the Cycling Velodrome and Olympic Park
With Train, Tube(DLR) and Boats (Thames Clipper) all very close by.
There is shopping nearby with the market and town centre.. or for serious shoppers the new Stratford City Centre is an easy 20min tube trip.
All of Londons Thames side attractions can be reached and viewed by using Thames Clipper.. This service runs during the day and evening 7 days per week. It can take you straight to Tower of London, Tower Bridge, London Bridge,Westminster, The London Eye, and the Embankment for Buckingham Palace and Changing of the Guard.
We are also ideally located for going to Theatres, Ballets, Musicals and Opera's..
You can drive here..use the private parking and then not use your car for the whole of your stay..

The Royal Arsenal and Royal Greenwich area was a bit of an unknown place to most people.. now it has been discovered its popularity has soared. I was the first person to buy a house on the Royal Arsenal redevelopment.. and my faith in the idea and this part of London has been more than justified. The gardens and parks..bars, cafes, museums and market stalls..it is a safe and friendly place to be. Next to the river Thames..with the Thames Clipper commuter service and easy access to the tube and rail stations.. it is London living at its best, minus the noise of traffic.

The house itself is in a lovely area. The owner was very helpful when I booked our stay. Sending loads of information regarding the surrounding area and travel into London etc. The Thames Clipper is a must to get into London. We travelled at dusk and the views were fantastic. Its definitely the way to arrive !!
I have no complaints with that side of the booking.
We tried the Dial Arch and the Cornerstone to eat out ( both within walking distance) both recommended.
The house needs some TLC though. It all appears very tired inside. It needs a lick of paint and new carpets. The living/dining/bathrooms are not big enough for 10 guests. The bedrooms are sparsely furnished and in some rooms no hanging space for clothes just hooks on the back of the doors.
The paved area at the back of the house is a small space but is taken up by a shed with broken windows and it is crammed with items which is the only thing you see when looking out of the small lounge.
The front of the house looks onto a park but the windows were so dirty it was difficult to see the view.
The house wasn't ready for us when we arrived and we were an hour and a half later than planned. The cleaner did go out of her way to provide us with things we needed so that was a plus.
We were disappointed and I think we expected the standard to be higher probably because the photos on the website are together with the hall which looks like better quality and more spacious living area. So if you book the Town House concentrate on the house photos. You won't see any of the lounge area/bathrooms or area to the rear as these are not really accommodating for 10 to 14 guests !!

It might be unforunate that you are staying at the end of the summer and before we re-decorate.. November.. Sorry you were disappointed.. More hanging space is on the way..
The house is redecorated every year.. the carpets every two years or so.
The window glass has a fault..which has resulted in the outside suface being affected by corrosion.. this is being looked at by the window supplier.
We have clients that have just re-booked for next year.. their sixth year.. 14 of them stay.
Another company are re-booking for their 4th year for an exhibition at the Excel.. one person per room..
We are planning to replace the carpets this autumn.. they were replaced 18 months ago.. some of the paint will be re-done..It was fully repainted in the winter.
Unfortunately people are not that careful carrying bags up and down the stairs and in the way they treat the house..so the decoration suffers. Esecially the Hall and Stairs.. It was fully repainted in March.
The shed is in the garden as a short term measure.. we sold a house and had to store some things.. this will soon be gone.. so sorry about that.
The number of people is the maximum the house will sleep..14. We do realise that it is possible that there may be a compromise between the number of people and their budget..
The number of bathrooms is clearly stated. If the house were 5 bedroom + 5 bathroom it would cost more to rent.
The Hall is a different building altogether.. with two bedrooms.. So although the Lounge area is immense.. the sleeping arrangements for 10 are more compromised.
The houses are both intended as a base from which you go out discovering London for sleeping and some eating. In this regard they generally represent good value for money.
Perfect base for a weekend hen-do
We stayed at the house for my sister's hen-do in December and had a really great time. The house is set along a beautiful street with a green space directly in front. The house itself is lovely, every bedroom is great and all kept very clean and tidy. Adrian was very helpful and gave us good recommendations for taxi services as well as pointing us in the right direction for the local gastropub, which walking distance away and a great find. We were a party of ten in total and there was still plenty of room, not everyone needed to share a bed. As the house is in a part of London I wouldn't normally travel to, it felt like a proper trip away, but you can still get into central London very easily. For hen and stag dos it is great as Bunker 51 is very close-by, which offers paintball and lasertag. Would also be great for a smaller group of friends visiting London or a large family.
Perfect Blend of History and Convenience
To stay in London in a Historical building while in a neighborhood environment with local pubs and markets yet still a simple and easy boat river ride from all of London's main tourist sites is an attempt to describe a stay at the Royal Arsenal. Funky and cool, yet Elegant and Historic… Posh yet understated… Simply Wonderful!
What more can I say more than I plan to return here - yearly!
We are of the same opinion.. and are lucky enough to have this Hall to stay in ourselves..
We love it too... though we will be renovating the house further in the coming months.. only to make it nicer to stay in.. a bit greener when it comes to energy use.. keep up with the passage of time..change some paintings around and swap some artefacts over with others from our château in France..

Also great for visiting football matches.. with West Ham, Charlton and Millwall all easy to visit..and get to experience English footbal.
Thames Clipper boat service leaves from a pier just by house to Westminster, it also stops at the O2,Tower of London and other places.. The Tube link direct to London City Airport 5 Min , Westminster is 25 Min Jubilee Line.Trains direct to Charring Cross passing London Bridge, or to Waterloo.
The Station, Town centre and Market are 3 Mins walk, as are restaurants, cafes .
The Thames walkway goes past the house as does a Thames cycle route.
