Robin and James Dimmick
About Robin and James Dimmick
This home has been in the Dimmick family since 1909. The original building was a print shop that was brought over by ferry and then all the bedrooms and porches were added later and then renovated and refurbished as needed over the years. Five generations of our family have enjoyed summers at the Oak Beach Cottage. We are happy to share our summer retreat with you.
Robin and James Dimmick purchased this Cottage in 1909
Why Robin and James Dimmick chose Oak Beach
Our family originated from the Babylon mainland and this was a natural location choice for a summer retreat. Our cottage was originally on the Great South Bay until Ocean Parkway was constructed in 1934.
What makes this Cottage unique
Oak Beach cottage is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors during the spring/summer and fall seasons. We previously rented seasonally 2010-2012 and are now hoping to share our home with others for 2018 and beyond!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
“A little bit of heaven”
A beautiful Bungalo away from home the place that I can call home, a little bit of heaven. My sanctuary.
Home is filled with lots of love and history at every corner, which I truly admire. Oakbeach is a prime area! Literally walk away from the beaches and a Very Scenic route inland which is just a skip and a hop away.
I Truly and greatly recommend this charming Bungalo..We will be back to see you again next year.
Close to many ocean beaches, charming artifacts, great deck for hanging out and conveniently located to many on-shore restaurants. A wondeful respite from a busy world.
A perfect beach cottage for a family vacation! Can sleep 3 couples and kids!
This sweet cottage was the perfect spot for our family vacation! It has a large deck, with a canopy to eliminate bugs if you want to enjoy cocktails after dinner! We have two kids, age 5 and 3 and they just couldn't get enough of the outdoor shower- it was probably their favorite part of the whole vacation!
There are 4 bedrooms off the living room and all of the beds are comfortable! My husband slept in the top bunk with our 3 year old two of the nights, so that is saying something! It is so cozy that you feel right at home as soon as you arrive. My favorite thing to do was have coffee on the back deck in the morning as we planned our day!
The house is a quick walk to a small private beach, and an easy 7 minute drive to Robert Moses Beach (huge beach with big waves for kids to play, a nice, clean playground, and snack bar! Park in field 5. Tip: go during the week as the weekends get a bit crazy with city traffic frolicking to the beach!
We also went to the Jones Beach Boardwalk one night and their beach and amenities is also amazing. The empire pass which is included in the rental will get you in for free, if you take one car! Park in field 4 for easy access to the boardwalk! They have live music, good ice cream and the boardwalk is a great way for the kids to get out energy while enjoying the ocean view! (we saw kids on scooters and bikes which we would probably think about doing next time!).
We also drove into the bronx one day to do the Bronx Zoo. It was a quick one hour drive-So amazing!! Wednesdays are free entry, you just have to pay the "extras."
If you are looking for a fun place to have dinner (both for kids and adults) the Salt Shack at Overlook Beach off ocean parkway is great! And, there are countless restaurants in Babylon, which is also a quick 15 minute ride.
I can't say enough great things, we will definitely be back!
Quaint 4 Br Cottage that is packed with tons of history.
This place is great!!!! It has a huge deck with screen house, and an outdoor shower which is a must have. A few miles to some of the greatest beaches on the east coast. It is also only 10 minutes away from Jones Beach Theatre so it would pay to check the concert schedule. Our greatest fun was parking at Robert Moses Lot 5 and walking to Fire Island. This one is a keeper and the price can’t be beat.
Adorable cottage and great location
My husband and I stayed at Oak Beach. The cottage is centrally located between Jones Beach, Fire Island, Captree Beach as well as an hour by train to NYC.
So much to enjoy whether you choose to have a relaxing time on the beach, charter fish, visit the many shops along the boardwalk or have an eventful day sightseeing in NYC.
Our time there was amazing. The cottage itself made you feel right at home. We certainly will be back. Thank you.
