About Aimee and Peter Frazier
We feel so fortunate to live on this special property, purchased by Peter's forward-thinking parents in 1964. Peter and Aimee both work in community development, and Aimee is founder of an environmental education nonprofit. Our newest venture is a local boutique hotel - The Heliotrope Hotel - that highlights this PNW place in all its spaces. We value connecting people to place, giving back to our community and sharing the gifts we’ve received. Our vacation rentals are an expression of that ethic.

Why Aimee and Peter Frazier chose Bellingham
This special place is an extension of who we are. Our family history is intertwined with these trees, the cove below our house, the trails along Chuckanut Mountain. Peter played and daydreamed here as a boy, worked on the property beside his dad as a young man, and, together with Aimee, took over the care of the property as an adult. We have raised our own children here, and our family history continues with a strong sense of place.
What makes this Studio unique
We have deep roots here, and want to share the gifts of this property: the peace and privacy of the forest, proximity to the sea on both sides, Chuckanut Mountain's trails and vistas, our hot tub under the trees, and all that Fairhaven and Bellingham have to offer. A bonus of living here is the beautiful design of all three buildings on the property, a design sense begun by Peter's parents, and continued forward as we've added structures and spaces.

We had a great stay. The nearby trails provide great walks for those too lazy to go on a longer hike. The wood fire stove is an excellent bonus for those that don't normally have one! The hot tub was really relaxing as well.
The property is also a really short drive from Bellingham, which has plenty to do if you're tired of the trees.
There are a few oddities: there is no beach access from this property, there are trains that runs right next to it (we didn't mind) and the hot tub is behind the owner's house. None of these were deal breakers for us, but for some reason we didn't notice these things until after booking.
My mom, brother and I spent Thanksgiving at the studio. There was plenty of space to cook a full Thanksgiving meal (all cooking utensils provided), places to sleep and get warm by the fire. Really enjoyed the hot tub too!
We had a wonderful time staying at this coastal retreat. The relaxing studio was close to great outdoor activities (hiking/biking,etc.) and close to good food/small city experiences (like a weekend farmer's market). Definitely recommended
Well designed and well cared for retreat in the woods.
Beautiful property and incredible location. Loved it. Quiet and restful. The train really is close and goes by with some frequency, but it didn't bother us at all. Would definitely return!
My now husband Bill and I stayed here while our families were in town for our wedding and it was the perfect honeymoon oasis. It felt like we were in a treehouse and would wake up every morning (including our wedding day) super relaxed and happy, watching the trees roll with the wind, listening to the seagulls and getting some sea breeze gust through every once in a while. It was also super easy arrangement to check in/out, which was really nice considering how much we had going on that week. Highly recommend!
Great weekend getaway spot.
Beautiful and quiet place to getaway for the weekend. Great places to hike, walk, bike and explore very close to the rental. The owners are so very nice and add nice touches to the place to make it personal to the location. If you're looking for a quiet (or even adventurous) weekend getaway close to nature; this is the place!
The Chuckanut area and Bellingham region are an outdoor recreation and nature lovers' paradise. We're the Northwest epicenter for sea, mountain, lake, and river activities, as well as island hopping and visiting local farms of every variety (vineyards, vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy). If you'd prefer a more urban vacation, Bellingham has great markets, diverse shopping opportunities, varied restaurants and nightlife, great local breweries, and one of the most beautiful university campuses in Washington state. We're situated equidistant to Vancouver BC and Seattle, so big city attractions are just a 90 minute drive away!
